"We chose American Tap Room for a family birthday dinner. Our first course which we shares was spinach/crab dip. I have two teenagers that order this almost everywhere we go butnitnwas soooo rich and over mayonaissy (sp) that even they could not eat it. Next came our main meal. Grandmother ordered the "Special" of chicken Parmesan Big mistake. The waiter actually set a BURNED meal in front of her and walked away. It was in edible. The manager FINALLY came over and offered another dish which took 15 minutes and everyone was finished by the time it came. We took most of it home. We orderd 3 desserts for my sons b-day.. Big Mistake. One was cold (warm apple something). They even tried to charge us for the bad food! NEVER GOING BACK!"

"The service and the food are very average in a place where there are a lot of great choices - skip this one! We went because we had a gift certificate from friends but we all agreed (kids too) that if it hadn't been free it wouldn't have been worth it."

"I've eaten at American Tap Room on several occasions, and it never disappoints. The food is always flavorful and portioned absolutely to a perfect amount. The restaurant always tried to accommodate special requests and gives small free comps to kids (like milk with kids meals). This restaurant is just solid: great price, good food, good experience."

"We had soups, salads, the duck ragout pasta and the sausage sandwich. The food was good to very good, the service was excellent and the ambience fun. The menu is not the most interesting in the world, but this restaurant has one of the best locations in all of Bethesda and I suspect it invariably pleases its customers. I look forward to going back."

"Hi, Thanks goodness for Open Table whereby you have a platform for the patrons opinion. We had an 8:45 reservation. We arrived a lttle early and table was not cleaned yet. At 9 table wss still not cleared. I requested from the 4 hostesses standing around the front entrance to please grab a glass and a napkin and take into the kitchen and request someone come out and do their job. They said they were only hostesses and not allowed to bus table. I asked them if they heard of team work, and they were sasy and snippy and gae me so much tude and one turned around and made faces at the wall. They were so rude. I was asked if I could see the manager and he came out and reiterated that hostesses are not bus boys and they would clear the table."

"Specialty salad was so bland that I was not sure it had dressing (it did). Others thought hamburgers were good but fries came out cold. Our server was good and brought out a fresh batch. Major complaint was that the restaurant tried to fit 3 tables near the window where there is only space for 2 tables. Meant we were constantly getting bumped or bumping other diners. Place is OK for a beer and a hamburger."

"We were four senior women out on our monthly luncheon gathering. We were seated at a table by a window that was a lovely view of the activities on the street. It was a window wall and it was open. It would have been delightful on a slightly warmer day. We were chilled until we were able to get the window wall closed. The food was good particularly the Crab cakes. We also enjoyed sharing a variety of desserts. The food service was very good. The young man who served us could not have been more accommodating."

"We have been to American Tap Room multiple times, but the service this time was inconsistent at best, which put a damper on the evening. We did not receive our food as ordered (and corrections needed to be made), our drink orders were botched and late, and neither of the two waitpersons (who supposedly worked as a team) seemed interested in getting the check paid. We mentioned our disappointment to the manager on our way out of the restaurant, and his response was both insincere and dismissive. The food is okay--this restaurant is in a great location and has a terrific bar, but I would recommend elsewhere to eat."
