American Cupcake is a restaurant and "carnival lounge" creating fantastical twists on comfort food classics. AC brings an imaginative style to Union Street, with an inventive food menu and Willy Wonka-meets-Space Odyssey interior. Think white patent leather banquettes, color-changing "gumball… lights" spanning the ceiling, fried chicken and Lone Star beer. Lunch, dinner, dessert, and "candy cocktails" are served all day and until midnight on weekends. Brunch now served on weekends! Try AC's most famous dish, Red Velvet Fried Chicken, or newer creations such as Candy Apple Ribs, Pink Popcorn Shrimp, and the ultimate Lobster Roll. "This place needs major major work... Service staff was GREAT but they could not overcome the rude hostess, the slow kitchen and the really bad food. With restaurant at 30% capacity, hostess took 10 minutes to acknowledge us. Menu was terrible, food quality even worse. I think they may be an ice cream parlor better than a place for lunch. Servers tried hard, so kudos to them for making lemonade out of poor lemons! Food took 15 minutes for 2 guests, 5 minutes more for another, and an extra 10 for the last person... Btw, place was 60% full by now."

"They have a great brunch menu! It's creative and fits with the theme of being "American Cupcake." Definitely some decadent breakfast items. I went with the huevos racheros and they were delicious. They were inventive and different than usual huevos rancheros but still tasted like what I would expect."

"This is a fun, different place to try for brunch or dinner, not just cupcakes. The menu has a cupcake inspired series of spins on otherwise traditional American fare. There is also a cupcake / drink paired series of flights that we did not try but would like to check out for a future visit. Seems like a good place to bring kids. The photo booth is cute touch."

"Fantastic restaurant. Thought it would just be a dessert place, but turns out its great for dinner too. The menu offers a creative and fresh spin on childhood favorites with just enough "adult" to justify the night out. The cocktail list is fun -- a drunken ballerina floats in a sea of sprinkles, a bloody mary rivaling the best in town. And the cupcakes... heaven in a paper wrapper."

"Very cute place to go to for dessert and a drink. We had a snowball - and it was the best thing. Chocolate cake with a sugary marshmallow center covered in frosting and coconut. But, entree foods weren't that great. I really wanted the red velvet fried chicken to be amazing but is was just okay. And, the mac n cheese lollipops were very dry on the inside. I'll be back for desserts but will go somewhere else for dinner."
