Amen Street Fish + Raw BarExcellent!Although the table we sat at was very close to the people next to us, the food more than made up for that! Best oyster shooters I've ever had and the shrimp and lobster risotto was amazing!! I will definitely be back again and would recommend this place to anyone looking for something a little different than the typical "lowcountry" food in Charleston!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat DinnerThis was our best dinner of four recommended top restaurants we dined at. The blackened grouper was terrific including some of the best fried green tomatoes and grits. My wife had the crab cakes and loved them. By luck we scheduled this place for our last night in Charleston and it highlighted the trip.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNicely Done w/ small exceptionsWe had dz oysters and calamari for apps. The oysters came with a zesty cocktail sauce, raw horseraddish and wine vinegar onions. I wish the wine vinegar was thicker. The calamari was not what I was accustomed to, it had bacon on top which took away from the flavor of the squid and I thought the batter was too thick. I had the scallops with asparagus both perfectly prepared except for the sauce under the asparagus was too salty. My husband had crab cakes, which were exceptional, whipped potatoes (too buttery) and asparagus. The girls had shrimp and grits and a crab sandwich, both very good. Blueberry bread pudding was a bit dry. Service slow at times, but our waiter was very friendly and engaging. Had a lemon drop martini, it was weak.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Calimari, was to die for,The Calimari, was to die for, best I've ever had hands down!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved having a dinner dateLoved having a dinner date with my husband at Amen Street. The trigger fish and wahoo were cooked to perfection. Service was as good as I have ever had. Loved it.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Charleston destinationWe have been to Amen Street now 4 times. The location is in the heart of all that is Charleston. Food has unfortunately been a bit hit and miss (new chef one night overly salted the food but that was a one time experience) but the appetizers (calamari and hushpuppies) are always great and well worth a visit alone. The berries salad is wonderful. If you're an oyster lover, this is the place. An excellent place to stop after a carriage ride as the Palmetto Carriage tours is about 1-2 blocks away. Relax, get a drink, have an appetizer and watch the vibrant tourism traffic out the window. A great place.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood seafoodAmen Street has good seafood. This was our first dinner. The calamari appetizer was larger than during the lunch service so I won't order two again but delicious. I had the scallops and they were cooked perfectly which most places over cook them. Overall great food. We will return.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMjust what I was looking forwarm lighting and interior, long bar with plenty of space, comfortable booths and friendly hostess and server. The server had knowledge of all the food, great suggestions, and wonderful service. Friendly and accomodating.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmen! Never disappoints! No matter what you have here, it is delicious. Earlier this week we sat at the bar and ate - not because there was no table for us but b/c we arrived early, sat at the bar and was so comfortable and having such a great time that we just stayed there. We had some very very nice 'spicy' martini's served in wine glasses, the the calamari appetizer. No rings but long chunky pieces of perfected breaded and fried calamari. Chased that with a Cesar (which I think was an entire head of romaine!) and the crab cake dinner.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMCasual atmosphere, great food,Casual atmosphere, great food, good service. Just be wary of the split plate fee. Was a suprise when the bill came.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time to Charleston andFirst time to Charleston and Amen was recommended to us.
