  • "Great food and the staff was pleasant and very good"

  • "We celebrated my mother's birthday at Amelia's, also on another date, my daughter's birthday. On both occasions we received wonderful service. The food was fabulous- we definitely left completely full! The chef came by to check on the preparation of the food, as well as to wish my mom/daughter "Happy Birthday". He also played HB on his saxophone~ a nice added touch!!"

  • "Great food but the waiter seemed distracted and hurried. Overall a great place but ask for a waitress not a waiter"

  • "We have been dining at Amelia's for several years. We started going there because of its proximity to the Hippodrome Theatre. Now we wouldn't go anywhere else. The food is fresh and delicious every time. The servers always remember us and help to make our evening enjoyable."

  • "I have been there many times ad each time I love it..."

  • ""What a wonderful meal my wife said" as we left this find from Open Table. Each of our Italian soups had a delicious broth that made them very tasty. My wife's veal Marsala was excellent as was the scaloppine with artichokes and capers that I had. The special of 2 glasses of Prosecco with one dessert was too good to pass up and we enjoyed a dish of Spumoni that we hadn't had in a long time. The one note of caution was a side dish of penne that came with the entrees. Both of us said we were lucky we hadn't ordered pasta which we might well have done if we weren't trying to follow a lo-carb diet. The bread too probably wasn't worth those carbs. The wine was excellent as was the service."

  • "We were celebrating our anniversary and Andy (the executive chef/owner) personally came to our table and congratulated us; later in the evening, someone at another table was celebrating their birthday and Andy came out of the kitchen playing Happy Birthday on his saxophone! Amazing!!!"

  • "We were visiting from Washington, DC and were looking for some good food and found it. We just ordered entrees and no wine since we had a long drive ahead of us. It seemed they were a little short on staff in the front, with the executive chef and one waitress taking care of the tables. The food was excellent. I had a salmon special and my spouse a pasta dish. Everything was just right, from the bread to the level of doneness of the fish, If I find myself in G'ville again we are definitely returning."

  • "The overall experience was less than desirable. The temperature inside the restaurant was very warm. Several members of our party repeatedly asked for the air to be turned down without results. Then, the food was VERY salty...one guest couldn't eat her entree at all because it was so salty. All in all, when paying $75pp (including wine), I except an overall better experience. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'll return."

  • "This was an excellent dining experience. We dined on the outdoor patio and enjoyed dinner tremendously. Great bar. Incredibly kind, thoughtful, and interested service, with the owner personally checking in. A genuine pleasure."

  • "We were visiting from out of town and found Amelias on Open Table. Impressed with the service...Becca was so nice! The executive chef came out to make sure everything was to our liking and it was. Dwayne had one of the best Calamari dishes and the sauce was superb. I enjoyed a well done eggplant parm dinner. Would recommend to highly."

  • "We have been going to Amelia's since they first started in a small storefront on 8th Avenue. Always a special place for us for when we lived in Gainesville. Now coming back for the evening, to take two UF grandchildren out to dinner, We picked the place that we had always enjoyed. Excellent food and service that brought back many memories."

  • "This was my third trip to this gem!! I love this place, everytime I visit gainesville my trip is not complete without a trip to Amelia's! Such a nice atmosphere so romantic. Everytime I've gone I've received excellent service and the executive chef is also the owner! My all time favorite place by far :) it's a must go!"

  • ".Great little Italian restaurant. Food yummy. Make sure to try the Tartufu cappuccino for dessert. If it's your birthday,chef/owner Andy Fass will serenade you on his saxophone. Arrive early as parking is tricky. ."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious BUT the ambience wasn't what I was hoping for. I wanted a romantic restaurant. The decor was nice but not romantic. There were a few pretty pictures, wall sconces, oil candle on the table. The room was very small and VERY crowded with tables. When we walked in there was no one at the door to greet us and I wasn't sure if we walked in a side door. The waitress was good. There was a wedding party so we waited over an hour for our food - not their fault. The appetizer, salad and entree were spaced very far apart time-wise, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but slower than expected as they were fully booked. We were there 2 hours. I might go back on a special occasion."

  • "The atmosphere was delightful as was the service. The food tasted delicious, and the wine suited us Wonderfully. It was my faughter's birthday. The Chef came to our table several times to see how Everything tasted. He even played happy birthday On his saxophone! A wonderful evening!"

  • "We came for our anniversary and wanted a romantic atmosphere. The ambiance was moderate, we thought it would be more romantic than it was, however the service was excellent. The server was friendly, knew the dishes well, offered recommendations based on our inquiries and the timing ( serving ) of the meal was perfect, not rushed at all...this was important to us. The portions were very generous and the flavor superb. This is what a dining experience should be, good service, relaxed timing and delicious food. The chef came over and asked about our meal and showed an interest in our answers and we received a complimentary dessert as an anniversary gift. We will be back."

  • "We have been to Amelia's several times and have not been disappointed. Always a good menu and the specials are top notch; Everyone should try the Crostini NY at least once! Chef Andy has done a wonderful job at creating and maintaining a fine dining experience. The servers are well trained."

  • "Over all it was an awesome place to go for Valentine's day and it was some of the best food I've had in a long time."

  • "Our server was correct...the lobster ravioli was to die for"

  • "I brought some out of town friends for a nice dinner. Although the food was good, the service was lacking. It was a Saturday night at 7pm, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. We sat in the back dinning room. We waited way to long for drinks and appetizers. Once our meal was delivered, we ordered a glass of wine, which we ended up cancelling because we finished eating before it ever arrived. It just seemed that things weren't going very well for our waiter. We were only a party of 4, but he seemed overwhelmed."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "The food is awesome, the prices are fair - not overly priced. A little too noisy for our liking and we did have to wait quite a bit for our drinks and food but we weren't in a hurry."
    Dined on 2/7/2014
  • "Table was ready when we got there. We were treated nicely. Meal was nicely presented and portion was large.Salad was good and fresh. Taste was average; pasta noodles looked and tasted like grocery store, boxed products; un-inspired. Reasonable prices for up-scale restaurant; excellent beer prices."

  • "They served my husband the wrong dish, and told him sorry, but the only difference was the vegetables in the dish. That was not the case at all. He ordered veal pizziola which is a light garlicky tomato sauce and mushrooms, and he got heavy tomato sauce with artichokes and other veggies. They took the dish back to the kitchen and brought the same dish back minus the veggies and artichokes. We should have refused to pay because my husband did not eat the dish. My meal was so-so. It was veal rollatini and there was nothing much rolled in it. Couldn't even taste any cheese. It cost us $ 92.00 with the tip and it was terrible. Would not go back and not recommend."

  • "We really enjoy Amelia's. It was crowded and the food was a little slow. This is our 4th visit and slow service had not occurred in the past."
    Dined on 2/1/2014
  • "The food was excellent. The service was extremely slow. It was noticible that our table for 2 was just not getting served in line with others. When our food arrived it was excellent. As this was our first time perhaps we just hit a bad evening for service. The restaurant was about 75% full."
    Dined on 1/26/2014
  • "Took a group of 7 to dinner and it was GREAT. Everyone ordered a different dish and everyone was happy. Three had to carry food home. What Andy can do with fresh grouper is just amazing."

  • "The environment is homey and the food is excellent. The chef/owner adds his friendly welcome."
    Dined on 1/22/2014
  • "A large group was being served in the back room and the front room was full, but wait staff was very attentive, food was just as good as ever and conversation at the table was easy - no loud voices needed. T'was a pleasant evening."

  • "This was the second time we have eaten at Amelia's. The food is outstanding and the prices are reasonable. Come to find out the owner Andy will come out of the kitchen and play a song for you at special occasions (ie birthdays, anniversary etc) I found this out to late. It was my birthday and I fill I missed something remarkable . Next time we are in town and it is a special occasion I will take advantage."

  • "Treated my husband to a birthday dinner...and when I advised staff that this was my intention, the CHEF came out and played "Happy Birthday" on his saxophone at our table! What a special and unexpected treat...especially on top of the excellent cuisine! VERY memorable! :)"

  • "We are season ticket holders to The Hippodrome Theatre. Amelia's is located behind the theatre so we can walk there for dinner. There are many local restaurants in the area but we always dine at Amelia's. The food is delicious and the service is excellent."

  • "Truly wonderful food, and an attentive, helpful staff. This is by far the best Italian dining experience in town. The chef makes rounds to ensure diner satisfaction."
    Dined on 1/10/2014
  • "For my first visit to this established area restaurant, I chose to make online dinner reservations for our anniversary. The notable customer service began even before my wife and I sat at our table, as the staff was quite helpful over the phone with advice and directions for parking on what turned out to be a rather rainy evening. The ambience was comfortably intimate, the staff appropriately attentive and accommodating--including the Chef and proprietor, who made a point of personally greeting the customers. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her shrimp and pasta selection, and I found yet another option to add to my list of preferred chicken marsala offerings (a personal favorite dish, and one by which I like to benchmark Italian fare)."

  • "Since we are out of towers, Amelia's was tricky but worth the effort to find. The main courses were solid-the veal Marsala was good but my chicken with eggplant, Parmesan and Tomato was terrific! The salads that came with it were above average and the cannoli a nice ending. The chef and owner was omnipresent and could not have been nicer as was our waitress. We would return happily!,"
