I took my friend here for his
birthday and, when we ordered desert, the wait staff sang "Happy Birthday" to him. He loved it! The food and service were good, as usual."

I love this restaurant. Their food
is always fresh, presentation is beautiful and tastes are delicious. Would eat there every night if possible."
Dined on 3/8/2014
Warm atmosphere (back room), good
service and consistently good food keeps us coming back!"
Dined on 2/28/2014
Great bar. Great sashimi. Awesome
bartender - Leiza!"
Dined on 2/27/2014
Had a great time at Amber with a
friend of mine while we were out for a Friday night dinner. I had the Angry Bird roll which was delicious and their cocktails are phenomenal! I highly recommend the Cherry Blossom and Lychee Martini. Our waiter was very attentive and the ambiance is really cool (we sat in the back!) Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back in the future."
Dined on 2/21/2014
Very good food and service in a
very good looking restaurant. The back is quiet and gorgeous! The fron is more fa lively scene."
Dined on 2/19/2014
A pretty back room is a
comfortable place to enjoy assorted Asian/fusion specialties. We wanted Thai and had an assortment of items. We will likely revisit to sample the sushi."
Dined on 2/13/2014
This is one of my neighborhood
favorites. The food is always excellent. I really enjoy the grilled Chilean sea bass but I have always enjoyed everything I have ordered here."
Dined on 1/17/2014
This is one of my favorite
restaurants. Tonight I had chicken over broccoli, asparagus and yellow squash with a bowl of sweet chili sauce in which to dip it. That with brown rice and it was delicious. My friend had teriyaki chicken. If you like sushi, their presentations are wonderful and the fish has always been fresh."
Dined on 1/17/2014
Great neighborhood spot - food is
always consistent and service is fantastic. Eating at the bar is the best - bartenders Alex & Ian are excellent!"
Dined on 1/11/2014
I thought I remembered loving this
spot. They seem to have a smaller list of sushi rolls and definitely charge more for them compared to other neighboring spots. The eggplant app is a not good, the duck buns were good - but not worth the visit."
Dined on 12/22/2013
Even in the snow, they had a
decent crowd coming in to dine today. Their food is good."
Dined on 12/14/2013
each glass of wine was 12, where
most places it is 6 or max 7 (a cheap plum wine..nothing fancy). plus the green tea, which was automatically brought to us, was 4. so what would have been a great lunch deal (the food on the lunch special is the best sushi deal in the area) came to an unexpectedly pricy lunch. but, the food was great, we will just know for next time"
Dined on 12/11/2013
I had their field salad and their
crispy chicken which was very good and moist. My friend had their crispy duck which he enjoyed and the veggie dumplings. In general, I've had good dining experiences here and like to dine here on a regular basis."
Dined on 12/1/2013
Tasty Asian fusion cuisine
beautifully presented in a lovely room make Amber a neighborhood favorite."
Dined on 11/22/2013
We both had sushi dishes and I
also had their field salad. Our neighbors, with whom we struck up a conversation, had 2 chicken dishes that really looked good! Maybe next time, I'll try something new."
Dined on 11/8/2013
Amber never fails to
please--pleasant back room, lovely service, delicious food, reasonable pricing."
Dined on 11/5/2013
Their sushi dishes are excellent
and great care is taken in their presentation."
Dined on 10/12/2013
The sushi chef is one of the best
in town and definitely in the neighborhood."
Dined on 9/25/2013
Amber always satisfies with
attractive room, imaginative menu, and professional wait staff. The crispy flounder is a special favorite as is the dessert chocolate covered ice cream with cherry center. Well priced."
Dined on 9/20/2013
My friend enjoyed their chicken
teriyaki which looked very good. I enjoyed the field greens salad and the spicy tuna tempura roll with brown rice. They make a wonderful presentation and the food has been generally good. It's my choice for Japanese cuisine in the neighborhood."
Dined on 9/14/2013
I love thier basic house salad
with ginger dressing and also their spicy tuna tempura dish. We both had that, some peking duck buns and the tartufo dessert with red and green bean ice cream. My friend also enjoyed his spinach salad with sesame seeds. Everything was delicious!"
Dined on 9/5/2013
Enjoyable Asian fusion restaurant
with superior sushi...but waitress not attentive and disappeared halfway thru meal. Had to find someone to finish serving us - seems she left! Otherwise good place."
Dined on 8/30/2013
I had a wonderful dinner of soup,
their mixed house salad and spicy tuna tempura rolls which are warmed. Yummy! My friend enjoyed the Upper Eastside roll filled with lobster. They make wonderful presentations of their food which also tastes good. I really like this restaurant."
Dined on 8/23/2013
We love Amber. We have patronized
a few Amber locations in the City and they are always great. Whenever we have out of town guests Amber is one of our favorite "go to" spots. The prices are moderate and the food is impressive. The UES location has outdoor seating. We will continue to stay loyal customers to Amber the service is always great and food never disappoints."
Dined on 8/18/2013
One of our favorite upper east
side restaurants with spectacularly fresh and tasty sushi. Waitresses always pleasant and attentive. Usually sit up front, but back is nice too. Back is quieter and better for groups. Front however is more energetic. Outside front of restaurant needs a make-over. Beginning to look a little worn out. Time to spruce it up now!!"
Dined on 8/9/2013
i had their house mixed salad and
the spicy tuna tempura roll and both were delicious. My friend had the upper Eastside roll and also enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to going back and trying more of their many choices."
Dined on 8/10/2013
Excellent sushi served by
pleasant, friendly waiters. A great Upper East Side choice for fairly priced sushi."
Dined on 7/19/2013
Great place, great food, good
service, but what happened to the outdoor dining in summer?"
Dined on 10/18/2012
Our second time dining at Amber in
3 months and both have been good experiences. The sushi/sashimi are very fresh and the service is attentive. Price point is decent. Love the fact that it is conveniently located so we can walk there. Seating is ok though the tables foe two can get cramped if you order the sushi for two (in comes in a large round serving platter."
Dined on 6/8/2013
Food was a bit off this time
dining at Amber East. Also our waiter did not tell us there would be a 2 dollar charge for brown rice on our sushi rolls, it just came in the bill. I think they should increase e dish and not be nit picky with the prices for rice. Starting to seem like airline charging for every little thing. Food was a bit bland this time. Will try again as it is usually better."
Dined on 6/7/2013
Always good food, nice atmosphere,
good bar scene and very good service."
Dined on 6/6/2013
we really enjoyed the red dragon
and kamikaze rolls!! - the fish is fresh and delicious!!"
Dined on 6/5/2013
Another good meal at
Amber--wontons, mango shrimp, crispy flounder, grreen tea ice cream covered with chocolate. Tables closely spaced. Refreshingly moderate cost."
Dined on 5/21/2013
Took my cousin, the sushi fanatic,
here. We hadn't seen each other in a while, so it was nice that it wasn't too loud, so we could catch up. The selection of food, and sake, was outstanding. Looking forward to going again."
Dined on 5/15/2013
A reasonable place to eat, in an
over-priced neighborhood. The tables are small, but in an open space, where you feel you're sitting outside. The service was very attentive to our needs, and the food was quite good. We both had fish that was fresh and done perfectly. Unless you want sushi, which we didn't, the menu is limited. The sister Amber on the west side is more expansive. The traffic noise is noticable, but not too deafening. A good find!"
Dined on 5/7/2013
The best green curry in the city
and the specialty rolls are so substantial. I've brought so many friends to this and everyone loves it too."
Dined on 5/9/2013
first time there. everything was
delicious. service was very good"
Dined on 4/23/2013
Great sushi served by friendly,
professional staff. We're glad it's in the neighborhood."
Dined on 4/23/2013
This place is really great for
food, but a tad overpriced. It is listed as $$, but should be $$$. Overall it was a good experience. I sat by the window and it was not as noisy."
