  • "I have been to Amber many times and have always been impressed. We started with the duck spring rolls - always outstanding as they were this time. I had the asparagus soup, which was excellent. Others had salads - which were very good. I had the lamb, which was warm, bland and tough - very disappointing. The filet and the salmon were well received by others at the table."

  • "This was our second visit to Amber. The first experience was out standing, this one disappointing. Last visit the food was perfect temperature and very tasty. This time my rack of lamb was over cooked and served cold. My wife had the same Mahi dish she had on our last visit. She was so impressed the first time and this time the Mahi was over cooked and lacked any taste. Service last time included sorbet between first and second course and this time none. The manager had stopped by on our last visit to check on our experience, this time not. The restaurant was no more full this trip then last visit. Overall a big disappointment. We will try another local restaurant next trip downtown."

  • "Really disappointed in the exceptionally poor service early on a Saturday night. The waiter was incredible slow and non communicative. It took almost an hour to get our mains and when I sought out the manager to report this his comment was "yeah I noticed that". Really???"

  • "We were there for my husbands birthday celebration and the food was not up to our expectations. We were with 2 other couples and their food was okay. I ordered the lamb and it was supposed to be a rack of lamb I had 3 chops and they were very fatty. My husband had the mahi mahi with noodles and the noodles were cold. However 1 of my friends had the lamb and even though it was still only 3 chops she said it was good and it was not fatty like the lamb I received. Perhaps it was the end the evening and they running out of lamb but either way we were disappointed. Also it was very loud in the small room. Our server was good."

  • "Excellent décor and hidden away off the main street for an intimate feel. The Service was excellent, kind, professional, and offered to take my party's picture, which was sweet. Came out good too. Dessert I favored over my entre mostly because I ordered the fish with noodles and it had a strong wasabi dressing all over it, and I don't like wasabi."

  • "We used OpenTable to book a 9:00pm table on Valentines day. We woke at 9:05 from a nap in preparation of the evening and called to tell them we would be late. The owner answered the phone and assured us that a wonderful table would be available when we arrived. A table was available festooned with the roses I had ordered with a smiling waitress who had previously spent years in the golf industry as an event organizer. She was excellent. The food was wonderful. The decor was fantastic with a carpet damping the conversations of tables spaced a casual distance from us with white table clothes, soft candles and a beautiful view out the lavish windows to a courtyard outside."

  • "All the servers were pleasant, graceful, and helpful. The noise interfered with our conversation. Mostly two person tables, which worked well on Valentines Day, and the place was packed. Each course was tasty and well presented. We don't much care for the abundant use of arugula in the salad, but that was the worst part of the meal. The quail, potato gnocchi, filet mignon, vegetable purse, cheesecake, and mousse were all delicious, some presenting novel flavors that intrigued. She enjoyed her wine and I liked the vanilla cream soda. This was not our first time at Amber Bistro, but may be our last because the prices have gone up by 50% and now seem extravagant."

My friend got the chicken and loved it. We split a salad which was the perfect amount. Service is always excellent. I've never been disappointed here."

  • "Wife and I went to Amber for a nice night out. Service as always is solid, but the food stole the show for us this time. We splurged and the wife had the Pork Chop with Spaetzle, and I had the Bacon wrapped Filet with truffled potatoes. The filet was cooked perfectly and had great flavor, but the Pork chop was outstanding with a light sauce and incredibly tender and moist. Dessert capped off with a exceptional goat cheese cheesecake."

  • "Took a group of four to celebrate after my sister's baby shower. The ambiance, service, etc were great. My fiancé loved the pappardelle mushroom pasta (hand made), and the artichoke dip was loved by all. The short ribs with gnocchi had a problem with serving size. They were recommended by the waiter, and three of us ordered them. They tasted great. But they were more "gnocchi seasoned by short ribs" than short ribs with gnocchi. There were small strips of meat that accounted for maybe 3 to 4 bites per plate. Again, they tasted great, but the menu had us expecting something quite different."

  • "Amber has probably been my #1 go to restaurant for special dinners and it has always been my favorite in Danville. But I must say we were disappointed last night. The service was very slow .... I ordered the grilled filet mignon, it was served with plain tasteless mashed potatoes instead of the potato carrot gratin stated on the menu my entree looked plain and unappetizing. My step daughter and husband were also disappointed in there entrees, the length of time between our entree and dessert was way too long. For me Amber "Jumped the Shark" last night."

  • "The food and service were awesome. We were concerned when we got there as there was a huge table set up for over 20 people behind us. Everything was perfect until this huge group came in. They were horribly loud and we could not even hear ourselves talk. They were standing in between our table and theirs and blocking the entrance to the kitchen. My husband complained to,the manager, but,he said there was nothing he could do. This is very unacceptable!!! There were very rude to the other patrons in their loudness!!!!!! They should have been told they were disturbing other diners. I really like this restaurant & want to go back, but mgmt needs to be aware of the ambiance for all patrons."

  • "Reservation was at 5:45 PM. They did not seat us until 6:05 PM. Luckily we were going to the 7:30 PM church service and had time to enjoy our dinner without rushing. Only one chair in the waiting area, so all four of us stood waiting all dressed up for 20 minutes."

  • "News Years Eve. Food was average. Steak was very tender and an appropriate serving size, but did not have the taste that you would expect from a Fillet Mignon. The scallop appetizer was under sized and both this and the main course were only warm. The deserts were okay. Dinner was a package, which included appetizer and desert. If the dessert was a separate purchase I would have sent it back. Dinner was just average. I accept there will be some price increases on New Years Eve. However, $16 for a drink! And the same for wine. A glass that would normally be $8-$10 was $16! We crossed the street after dinner to another restaurant / bar and had drinks for $8. The price gouging will keep me away and I live locally."

Ambiance suited more of a casual lunch in the summer when windows could be opened up, than for a nice dinner."

Our other party was late and the waitress was wonderful...didn't make us feel as if we were taking up her space. She deserved the great tip that my husband almost walked out with...he was so embarrased because she was such a pleasure. We have never been disappointed at Amber Bistro"

We both ordered the 3-course lunch: half a sandwich, salad, and a cup of the day's soup--for $13! Very reasonable and delicious! Just the right amount of food. We highly recommend! Perfect for a delicious weekday lunch!"

  • "This was my second time at Amber Bistro. The first time was for a ladies lunch and the spinach salad with salmon was delicious. We just celebrated our son's 30th birthday there with six adults and one three year old. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The appetizers were perfect for sharing and the entrees ranged from a gourmet burger and fries to sumptuous duck. The servers took good care of all our needs and we all had a fun, relaxing time."
