Amber BistroBirthday LuncheonPerfect quiet lunch stop. Great food and service. Comfortable dining room.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat lunch trioHad a great lunch trio; soup, salad and 1/2 sandwich. Everything was great. I'll return.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe beet salad was outstandingThe beet salad was outstanding and the Halibut was excellent.
The wait staff were attentive, friendly, and just excellent.
The pork chop was a little bit dry and not as tender as we would have hoped.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Brunch DowntownOur family of 4 had a wonderful brunch at Amber. Even if brunch had not been available, the lunch menu was equally enticing. I had the Eggs Monterey: a poached egg with spicy Hollendaise on a crab cake. Served with an elegant salad and perfect potatoes, it was delish!! All items were beautifully presented, portions were spot-on and service was wonderful. We will return.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food but needs managementWe like going to Amber because the menu is imaginative but not fussy, and the food is very good, from appetizers like thai salmon and duck rolls, entrees like papperdelle with wild mustrooms or locally sourced rack of lamb. Nice wine list with reasonable pricing. The wait staff is friendly and courteous.
What would make Amber special is if they had a dynamic host or hostess and some management presence to oversee things when the kitchen, bar and/or staff get overwhelmed, and also to ensure the wait staff is well educated on the menu. More comfortable seating would be nice, too, but not essential. Still, these shortcomings are more than offset by the food, wine and friendly staff, and we'll continue to frequent Amber.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI could only give the crabI could only give the crab cakes a 3. However, the Tuna Tartare would get a 6 if I c.ould give it. There were four of us and all chose to nosh on appetizers/salads with the exception of one who ordered the burger (delicious, I was told). Nice evening.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo thumbs up!Went to this restaurant on a recommendation and have already recommended it to others. Thumbs up to the food servers and food preparers! My caesar was crisp and wonderfully salty; my seafood risotto was creamy, full of tender fish and calamari tentacles along with the prawns and mussels. Try the silky salted caramel gelato. Yum, yum, yum! Loved sitting in the open windows -- perfect for people watching.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Halibut EverWe have been to Amber several times but not in a while. After receiving an email indicating they were featuring halibut we decided to make a reservation, and I'm sure glad we did. The presentation was a little unusual with an Asian influence, and it could have not been better. The fish was moist over sobu noodles seasoned to perfection. So good we plan to return real soon. A great dining experience at a fair price.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable GemAmber is a reliable little gem in Danville. With its former sister Bridges across the street and other fine restaurants scatter throughout Danville, Amber holds it own in an intimate and open environment. Our Thursday night dinner found a Spanish guitar play quietly playing in the bar area.
Try the Salmon appetizer. A signature dish.
Place does need a new coat of paint and some updated art, but architecture is wonderful and food carries the day.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded expectations!Went there with my family for Mother's Day brunch and everything exceeded my expectations. Location is easy to find, right in downtown Danville. We were seated promptly and found the special event menu to have lots of great options for both the foodies and the picky eaters in our group. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The timing between courses was well-paced and everyone raved about their dishes. Having eaten at most of the other note-worthy restaurants in Danville, this is easily one of the absolute best.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for any occasion! Our server, Adam was a gem! He was attentive without being overbearing....the food was outstanding! I had my favorite, salmon salad, and as always, it was perfectly chopped and mixed. The salmon was delicately seasoned and juicy. I will come back to this restaurant again and again and definately recommend it to others.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSuch a great place to meetSuch a great place to meet up with friends for a great dinner. Downtown Danville is a beautiful location
for dining. Sat outside on the patio, had a nice view of the sunset.
Excellent service, and good food. The Happy Hour seemed popular
with locals, offering both food and beverage choices. Overall a lovely
experience by an out of town visitor.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
