A word from Amanda's Restaurant
Amanda's has been delighting customers for over 20 years. Guests enter our elegantly restored brownstones and are warmly welcomed by an accommodating staff. Although geographically close to Manhattan and certainly as culinary sophisticated, we're not slow to smile and truly aim to please each guest. Highly rated by the Zagat Guide for food, service and decor, we are proud to have been named on their short list of the state's Most Popular Restaurants. Our popularity stems from the talents of our CIA-trained chef, Rodney Petersen, our dedication to warm, gracious service and the comfortable elegance of our dining rooms. Amanda's is the natural choice for so many occasions: the romantic couple on a "date to impress," a family brunch on Sunday or the place to enjoy pre-theater Early Dinner at a price that is really too good to believe. Sophisticated wine lovers enjoy our monthly five-course wine dinners. Continued

  • "Amandas is a great place! The food and service was awesome and is great for many occasions. It definitely has a romantic ambiance but is kind to small gatherings."

  • "The place was crowded, the tables were too close to each other, the service was distracted, my wife's food was cold and the bill paid with cash was taken without returning the overpayment. We were very disappointed, will not return and will not recommend the restaurant to our friends."

  • "We went for brunch and it was great. Cute place, nice service, great food. Parking is a bit of a drag as the validated lot is 4 blocks away. Nice walk on a nice day (which it was), but would be a drag in the rain. We enjoyed the bunch."

  • "Amanda's, a Hoboken mainstay, never fails to please . Their early bird $32 three -course dinner for 2 is the best bargain in Hoboken and maybe all of NJ. The courses are not enormous but are satisfying and the $20 bottles of wine are just the right (taste and price) addition to the early bird dinner. This restaurant is a nice option to pricy NY restaurants for City theater attendees. The only downside to dining here is the really challenging parking situation."

  • "A lovely brunch with my elderly parents - both of whom thoroughly enjoyed it. We have eaten here many times, but I was particularly impressed that they had read the note on my open table booking which requested a quieter table, as my father is hard of hearing. They gave us a lovely table next to the window, away from the bigger groups. As always, the food was delicious."

  • "Excellent meal and service. I dined with my family and everyone enjoyed their selections, from appetizers to dessert. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some excellent recommendations. We will definitely return!"

  • "We discovered Amanda's when our oldest daughter moved to Hoboken. We have been there 4-5 times and never been disappointed. The food is delicious, we love the atmosphere and decor and the service is always friendly and never rushed."

  • "We had a Saturday night reservation and enjoyed a slow paced meal with delicious food and a romantic ambiance!"

  • "Always consistently great. We always dine here before theatre in the City."

  • "Luckily, I had to help someone move into Hoboken or I would never have thought of coming on a Sunday afternoon. With a little research, Amanda's seemed to be the perfect choice. We were ALL not disappointed. Love the homey feel and vibe. Our table of 5 had glowing comments with apps, entrees and dessert. The ENTIRE staff should be commended for their exceptional service. We are now planning to check out what dinner would be like one day."

  • "Everything was really delicious. Everything we ate was great- wheat berry salad, mussels (1 serving is enough for the whole table- honestly), Korean BBQ ribs, scallops, monkfish, and short ribs. From the bar- old fashion made with tequila was surprising delicious!"

  • "My fiancé and I went for date night on Saturday night and had an amazing time. The food and the service were both wonderful."

  • "Everything from appetizers to dessert was simply delicious. I can't wait to go back and try some more. The staff was super friendly and courteous. It was everything you would look forward to for an excellent dining experience."

  • "We have been to this restaurant several times and this time the food was disappointing. The service is great, the reservation was honored, but the food was not up to their standards"

  • "My parents and I had a great time at Amanda's. The food was great, and the restaurant itself is always so pretty. Our waiter was a little spacey, but nothing that really brought down our experience. Definitely recommend it!"

  • "Amanda's is always superb. Consistency with food, service, ambiance makes this a go to place before the theatre. We would rather eat here than in the City."

  • "Our group of three enjoyed brunch at Amanda's. We ordered the various versions of Eggs Benedict and all were perfectly executed and delicious. It's a lot of food!"

  • "Went to Amanda's to celebrate an anniversary. Loved the atmosphere. Service was great as well as the food. Amanda's definitely has an ambiance. Very romantic in nature. Oh and make room for dessert. The molten chocolate lava cake is devine!!"

  • "I came here after receiving a recommendation from someone at my school. We came for the early dinner and you can't beat the price! $16pp for a 3-course meal! I had a delicious mushroom soup, then hangar steak with mashed (sorry, pureed) potatoes and then chocolate mousse for dessert. All great."

  • "We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the well-appointed rooms. Despite the full house, we never had to shout to be heard. Service was well-timed and included just the right amount of causal exchange. Food was excellent. i loved the beet salad, and the scallops were excellent. Salmon dish was delicious. Everyone's meal included a perfectly seasoned vegetable (kale, spinach) and starch. Dessert was a highlight--cheesecake was one of the best I've ever had. Same for the berry crisp. Will definitely return."

  • "We have been to Amanda's for brunch a couple of times before and this brunch occasion did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, great service and wonderful food. We started with freshly made mimosas which were delicious. My eggs benedict served with spinach and smoked salmon were out of this world. The bread basket is to die for! I could have worked my way through the entire menu. Good to have validated parking close by when parking in Hoboken is not easy to find. Try this neighbourhood gem, you will not be disappointed."

  • "Very nice restaurant but kind of an older crowd, would be good to bring my parents, not necessarily a hip Saturday night locale"

  • "This was our first time at Amanda's. It was first-rate in every respect. The good was excellent, very nice beer and wine selections, the staff were welcoming and efficient, and the atmosphere is lively, but comfortable and charming. We were lloking for a place in Hoboken since we were meeting a group and it was relatively convenient for everyone. But Amanda's is good enough to go back to even if you don't need a place in that location."

  • "Good menu choices, a small but well chosen list of after dinner wines and whiskeys, and a very comfortable atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. What more could you want?"

  • "Armada's gets flavor and presentation. They consistently meet or exceed my dining expectations and it's why we continue to make it a "must visit" when we stay in AC!"

  • "Amanda's was a great choice for my husband's birthday dinner. I had house-made pappardelle noodles and my husband had the short ribs. Both dishes were great! The molten chocolate cake for dessert was to die for! My only other comment is that the service was a little sparse (and the restaurant wasn't busy at all)"

  • "We've been to Amanda's a few times and we absolutely love it! It's perfect for a date night or a special occasion dinner. The menu changes somewhat regularly (in a good way) - noticed that the special I had last time was now a regular menu item. We will keep going back for a few reasons: reservation times are always kept, the special wines listed on the regular menu are surprisingly good and relatively inexpensive, the service is top notch, and the food is consistently delicious. The only negative about this restaurant is that it is often way too warm. But if that's the biggest complaint, then I'm thrilled. When people say it's the best restaurant in Hoboken, it's true."

  • "Although we were in a basement with little natural light, the environment was bright and friendly. The food was very good although scrambled egg whites were a bit neglected. Bloody Mary's were the smallest I've ever seen! Overall, we greatly enjoyed our experience and would definitely come back."

  • "Come for brunch, lunch or dinner. Service and food always excellent. I dined while they had a party in the next room. Food came out hot, server was always pouring water. Signs of a great restaurant."

  • "I have been here several times. We dine here for special occasions and it never ever disappoints. I would highly recommend Amandas to anyone in Hoboken and surrounding areas who is looking for that perfect special place. p.s.-check out there early dining menu...wonderful and fantastic prices"

  • "Boyfriend & I went for the early seating at 5pm $35/person: Service: Excellent. I forgot out servers name but he & his team did an awesome job of ensuring that our drinks were always filled, that the food was correct and we had whatever we needed! 5*'s Food: OK. Everything was bland and under seasoned but the risotto. Bland steak, mash, crab/asparagus soup, blanched asparagus. Never a good sign when we have to keep reaching for the salt shaker. 3*'s We've had much better experiences at Amanda's, so we will definitely be back. Felt that we got what we paid for, so no hard feelings :) The BEST part for us though, was the libation of the night, Love Potion #57 or something like that. IT WAS PHENOMENAL!"

  • "I booked a reseration for Valentine's Day for 2, well over a month in advance for a 7:30 PM seating and the $65 Prixe Fixed menu. From start to finish, the service was very solid and the food was very good. My problem was with the seating arrangements. We were seated in a cramped back room, which almost resembled a china closet. It put a foul taste in my mouth immediately. It was awkward, overpacked for the holiday rush, and my chair was literally obstructing a doorway. Every couple seated in that room was under 30. When I intend to drop $200+ on a meal, I don't expect age to be a factor when determining which table I'm sat at. I'll go to Amanda's again in the future, but probably never for a holiday or special occassion."
