Had a great time at Amalfis recent Saturday night with a group of family and friends. Prix fixe dinner was great. Only downside to overall experience was very expensive wine list -- $13 for a glass of house sauv. blanc. --- and generally overpriced entrees. But taste and atmosphere was fine and our server Elias was outstanding.

If you go for nothing else, you must try the lamb/beef bolognaise! So good. The bar opens up to the street and has a really big screen to watch your favorite sporting event, great California feeling. The restaurant is softly lit and not too noisy.

My girlfriend and I went with a Groupon so take this review with a grain of salt. Naturally the menu for Groupon people varies from the one offered to everyone else. Subsequently, the food was pretty mediocre. The shrimp scampi-like thing, however, (Two butterflied shrimp in a garlic sauce) was particularly light, I'm pretty sure it was a white wine reduction so I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, don't go with foodie expectations. But the reality is with the groupon you're not getting a deal, tax and gratuity are included at the full price not the groupon price. And the ambiance is pretty bad, it's like a sports bar. All the food you can make at home. Just go to costco, I'm pretty sure they did. Still had a good time though...

Amalfi has over time become one of my favorite locals. Food is always delicious, and I esp. like that they serve it very HOT, like it should be. This Sunday, there was a painting class in the back of the restaurant, that added a little to the energetic noice level, but overall didn't disturbing. My fav. dish is the salmon salad. The Pinot Grigio is fabolous, good selection of wine. Will be back again for sure. Thank you again, Amali.

We can to this location in Hollywood to see the music group Honey Country in the bar/music lounge upstairs: Room 5. When we made reservations for the show we saw there was a restaurant part of the building. What a delicious find. Great food: The pumpkin ravioli with short rib was amazing as was the gnocchi with sausage ragout. Full bar and great service. We will definitely come back to try other food options. Go get you some yum!!!

But unless you're from that hood, it's so hard to park on La Brea at any dinner hour. However the spacious area and the service --lovely...the food was just fine, though nothing outstanding. They made adjustments for allergies in our prefix dinner, but there are very few choices of appetizer or dessert to satisfy all palates

Shrimp appetizer and dessert was the best part. The Brussels sprout salad was different but lacked flavor along with the steak and lobster ravioli. The filet mignon was not as tender as we are use to. The sauces on both entrees were somewhat bland.

......but it was very misleading! There was a very good selection of foods on the menu. The portions were good & presented beautifully on the plates but everything was beyond bland. We were a party of four, each got different dishes and we all tried some of the others meal and we were wildly underwhelmed with everything but the pizza. Even then the pizza was good but certainly not great. I don't even know how such varied dishes could all pretty much taste like.....well, not much at all really. I even added extra crushed red peppers to my chicken to help the situation but it was still 'meh'. Sadly my last hope for flavor, the Blackberry & Peach Cobbler was also uninspired, neither tart NOR sweet. It was all just wasted calories sadly.

To say the least I was disappointed. The website boasts of their happy hour , though our hostess immediately tells us that's only during the week. While we made a res as it was a holiday the restaurant and bar were nearly empty. We were seated right away though we saw our waitress only twice to order our food and get our check. While she was friendly she never came to see how our meal was. Sadly the food was terrible! The food from our entire group was bad, we over salted mashed potatoes and under cooked fish, the food lacked both seasoning and passion. The food was beyond overpriced and they added automatic gratuity without even telling us prior. I will unfortunately not be back nor will I be able to recommend this restaurant.

Have been coming here for years. Love the food. However, the big screen TV has given the place a cheap sports bar atmosphere that's not compatible with a fine dining experience. Do the owners have any understanding of ambience? A lively bar is one thing, but having to see this giant annoying TV screen (which can be clearly seen from where I was sitting on the restaurant side) severely detracts from the dining experience that the customer is paying for.

I was very pleased with the overall experience at Amalfi. The food was very good, the prices in line and the attention the bartender gave was great. BUT, my sister and I sat down to order and specifically told the waiter we had a time for the show next door and needed to eat pretty quick. Well, the food did not come out in time, and they had plenty of time, so we had to come back after the show and eat warmed food. I am sure this was more an abiration than the norm, but suffice it to say, it was a hassel. However, as I stated the other positve things made the experience still a very good one.

My husband and I took our 15 year old daughter and her friend to see a performance in Room 5 Lounge located upstairs from Amalfi's. We made a reservation for 6:45. We arrived early, 6:30, and was seated right away. Our waitress was prompt, friendly and knowledgable. Food was delicious, drinks were good and dessert was yummy. As the evening wore on it did become pretty crowded so I would recommend making reservations. Had a wonderful experience and will definitely be going back. We ordered: roasted vegetables, smoked salmon and chicken Parmesan. All dishes were cooked perfectly and delicious.

We've been here twice w a large group for dinner. Reason for choosing the restaurant was our friend was performing upstairs and we wanted the convenience of walking up to Room 5 after our meal. Having said this, I'd come back here again just to eat. Service is friendly and efficient. Bread served before the meal was warm and toasted, bartender makes a good dirty martini and the wine list is decent. Kale salad was one of the best I've had and calamari was tender fresh and not overly breaded. Enjoyed the halibut (It was a special) and husband had the chicken parm. Can't recall what others in our group had but no complaints. cobbler was fresh and not overly sweet, but it was warmed in the microwave, making it too hot and not crisp on the top.

We were 6 girls on a birthday night out. Food is delicious! Been here before, and came back, and will again. My fav. is the grilled salmon, and you get a lot of it, it's really goooood!! We had very various different dishes from tomato soup, pizza, ceasers salad, steak and yay Salmon - all good! Atmosphere very nice, cozy. Very good winelist. Good service - incl. birthdaycake with candle, thank you!! Only minus, but really MINUS: we were all looking forward to our Italian after-dinner coffees, and the waitress told us we could not order coffees as their espresso machine is broken since 2 months! Seirously?! ! At an Italian restaurant. That is almost unbelievable, really. If an espresso machine breaks, well get a new one, pronto! Please?!!

Lots of parking in the street or Valet. Food was great. Very friendly people. Waiters are extremely kind and very helpful when it comes to choosing a plate and wine. The 3-course prix-fixe is good value. Desserts were excellent, big. Soup seemed canned, but mains were creative and quite tasty. Wines reasonable, service attentive. Minor disappointments were that the interior is more cavernous and less cozy than photo suggests, and btw there aren't any tablecloths.
