Last night I reserved a table at Amada. My man and I got engaged....but he was very nutritionally depleted from an exhausting 9 days....he literally saved my life (long story). So we decided to "let our food be our medicine"... only complaint was that we were not able to get the organs from the lobster when we ordered the Paella.....but that was in impulsive medical decision:)....so, next time I'll ask ahead. Great service by Victoria, we received the royal treatment from all. Very respectful of their clientele. Forever grateful, Jose Garces...you've brought true love to philly through your food....see you soon....

We went here for a mid-workday wedding anniversary lunch. Amada has a great Catalan express menu deal. We decided to splurge instead and got tapas and dessert. The food is a modern take on traditional Spanish cuisine. They bring out the tapas each as they are ready. The food is exquisitely prepared and beautifully plated. Our server was very solicitous and attended to all our needs as one would expect at an upscale restaurant. They even had un cortado for coffee, which was divine. My only criticism is that the tables are a bit too close together and you feel as though you are involved in others' conversations while there. But I would highly recommend Amada for any special occasion.

On a trip to Philly I was excited to try a Jose Garces place and chose Armada. We ordered several small plates and enjoyed Jamon Serrano, a good plateful of thin-sliced ham, gherkins, and mustard; Lamb Chops, juicy and cooked perfectly medium rare; Costillas Pork Ribs, off the bone tender with a succulent paprika sauce. Only the Gazpacho Sandia was a disappointment. Too thick and room temp, so it wasn't refreshing as expected. Gracious service. Arrived early and seated with no problem.

Three of us dined at Amada before going to the theater. The service was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed cocktails that were unusual but very good. The wine list had several outstanding Spanish selections. There are not enough superlatives for the food. Everything that we had was a home run. We are all looking forward to our next trip to Amada!

We ,once again, did the chefs choice tasting with wine pairing. Excellent . My only complaint is that we had five people dining and FOR SURE we were short changed on some courses. Two small pieces of salmon for FIVE? No. That would be how they serve salmon for four. The fifth person was just cut out. On a few dishes this happened. I've been there a few times and I know their portions. I was not too impressed with that

We ordered the chef's selection for five, which we did not regret. More than enough to eat and a fascinating variety of dishes. Not knowing what was coming next made it even more enjoyable. The service was very attentive - we always had just the correct amount of food on the table so as to enjoy the experience thoroughly. Our meal lasted close to 3 hours and we never felt rushed.

The recent diner we enjoyed at Amada was excellent as usual. The special small plates are wonderful and allow each person to enjoy many special flavors. Be prepared to spend $100 per person with drinks. But as a special occasion it is well worth it. Service is good and parking nearby. Our only complaint is that the amount of wine served seemed small for the glass and price. But the wine was very good. We will go again as it is one of our favorites. Everything on the menu is good making it hard to pick. So it requires several trips.

A disappointing experience. No problem with the service. The room was loud but not overwhelming. Unfortunately the food was extremely underwhelming. One dish was very overcooked - the waiter was good about replacing. Of the 7 dishes we ordered 3 were terribly over-salted. The rest were simply average at best as was the presentation. We left thankful that we didn't go for the chef's menu.

I've been to Amada a number of times. Anytime, I've gone with a group, the experience has been great. When I go with only my spouse, however, it's been pretty hit or miss. This past Saturday, was a miss. We arrived at 5pm for our reservation, were seated and had placed our order by about 5:15. Within 5 minutes (not an exaggeration), 3 of the 7 dishes that we had ordered were at our table. Within 30 minutes of ordering, all 7 dishes had been delivered to our table. We felt super rushed and didn't really get to sit and savor any one dish...we were at a small table and there simply wasn't room to keep multiple dishes at one time. We had planned to order drinks, coffee, and dessert, but left without doing so b/c we felt like they wanted us out.

Amada is the place to go if you love food and want to taste some prepared by people who really know what they're doing. The various pairings of seasonings, main ingredients, and cooking styles are perfect and speak to the knowledge of the chefs preparing them. At Amada they make your meal an experience by pacing the delivery of the various tapas dishes so you have plenty of time to enjoy each one. The wait staff is excellent-ask them for recommendations. Also, try one of the sangrias-they're worth the price. Plan on taking a bit longer in a place like this than in a traditional restaurant, simply because it's a meal designed to make you linger and enjoy.

Second time we tried Amada. The food is very interesting and excellent of course. When we arrived a little early for our dinner reservation the staffer at the door didn't seem to know how to explain they weren't ready yet, seemed nonplussed. Also surprising that our waiter didn't introduce himself by name and later was off in the kitchen corridor chatting with other waitpersons, back to us when we could have used his attention.

Enjoyed a nice dinner with some colleagues after a training. Was very pleased overall. The service was fantastic, the restaurant had a great ambiance and the food was exceptional. We ordered several tapas while we waiting for the paella to cook (was told it would take approx 1 hour). It was a great choice because the tapas were generally small portions (there were 3 of us), and we had ordered about 7... we could have only ordered 5ish and would have been fine. Everything was delicious. The paella was outstanding. Very pleased and would highly recommend!!!

One of the best meals we've had in a long time. Absolutely wonderful Spanish cuisine. We chose the "chef's selection", which was three courses of small plates plus a dessert. We received a wide variety of dishes, many of which we would never have thought to order on our own. All were very well prepared and many were quite creative. Throughout, the flavors were extremely well balanced. One could appreciate both individual ingredients as well as how they blended into the whole. A great list of Spanish wines complemented the menu--across a wide price range. The service matched the food. Our main waiter was always available, but not intrusive. The hostess and manager both stopped by to check on us. Everyone was extremely friendly and cheerful.

I have always been a fan of Amada, but this Sunday when I went there for the Old City Restaurant Week Menu- I was utterly disappointed!!! May be this was the first time that I visited during one of the Restaurant Week. While most of the items in the Restaurant Week menu were from the main menu, the portions were small, the flavors were lacking and the succulence (where needed) was missing. Even my favorite "Amadian sauces" lacked their distinct tang. And to top this, the service was very lousy. They changed our waiter thrice and they had completely forgotten about the dessert. We waited patiently for the dessert for up to 1 hour and 20 minutes after our main course was done, but still no body came with a dessert!

I have dined at Amanda many times--but never before dark. The same stellar cocktails and tasty tapas that are offered for dinner are also available before 5... And then some. The breakfast options are plentiful and delicious. They also offer tapas, salads, and sangria, which are all perfect for a morning meal (and to nurse a hangover.) hate to share the secret as it's easier to get in for brunch than dinner but they deserve to be packed for that quality and price.
