Disappointed after our recent dinner here. We highly enjoyed our first visit here 6 months ago. This time while experience was ok it did not have the wow factor the first did. Some service issues that I can chalk up to a busy Saturday night. However when two of the eight plates you ordered sucked I would say this was not a five star dining experience . The two dishes were the garlic shrimp ( way to salty and no taste of garlic) and the clams In broth ( clams were to small and overpowered by a less then stellar broth.

Our experience at Amada was a pleasant one. Wait staff was friendly, quick and accommodating. We ordered six dishes for two people and it was more than enough. Favorite dishes included the goat cheese and tomato with basil, and the spicy fries. I ordered the black cod and was slightly disappointed by the less than crisp skin and bland flavor. Overall, it was a decent spot to visit when in the Old City/Society Hill section of Philly.

Had the tapas tasting menu and it was incredible and the best tapas I have ever enjoyed. The variety of tapas and blend if flavors was over the top. It was so enjoyable to not have to worry about ordering and leaving the choices to the chef. In addition our server, Rusty, was extremely professional, polite and efficient.

The food was delicious, but the service was not up to par. Our waiter was not knowledgable about the menu and seemed confused when I asked for both sparkling water and ice water. The servers were friendly, but the man refilling our water seemed offended but I stopped him before he poured ice water into my glass of sparkling water. I appreciated that there were great options for vegetarians.

The service was abominable. Arrived party of four 6:15 Didn't get check until 8:45!!!! For10tapas plates??????? Wrong item sent to table. Medium rare filet was purple and had to be sent back. We had to ASK to have water refilled once...glasses got low abd needed another refill but couldn't get attention of server or buser. The portions were minuscule. We understand tapas small plate but 4 bites of food is ridiculous at these priced We will not ever return recommend it.

We first visited Amada almost two years ago. It was a great experience. We could not wait to go again. So, we did. The experience was EXACTLY the same. We ordered the Chef's special again. And, wouldn't you know... the EXACT same dishes were brought out - almost in the same order. We were both extremely surprised. I would expect some changes in a menu over the course of two years - especially when ordering the "Chef's Special."

The food was incredibly salty. And I love salt! 2 of the dishes - the steak and the calamari were almost inedible. Our waitress cleared our table before our last dish was served and when it arrived the poached egg was hard boiled. Disappointing food but a lovely restaurant. Will not be rushing back again

Our first visit to Amada was for lunch during Restaurant Week, September 2014. We had heard glowing reviews and we weren't disappointed. The menu had many choices and the ones we chose were hot (or cold), full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Multiple servers kept the courses coming and as we ate, we enjoyed glasses of delicious Sangria. Many others were there as well so the noise level was "energetic", but that won't deter us from returning.

Served by Rusty, during restaurant week. We ordered everything together per his request. Second dish didn't come for 45 minutes and not even after we asked twice. Rusty was nowhere to be found and had not checked with us within those 45 minutes to make sure all was ok. When we finally got around things, they had to cook the dish at that point which meant our main dish arrived l over an hour after appetizers. Finally, Rusty came to inform us that because it was late (no wonder, we'd been waiting for an hour for our food!) there was no desert left that we had ordered. The manager (?) Melody was very polite and took care of one of the dinners but this was definitely not the experience we expected at one of the so-called best Philly restaurants

My girlfriend and I went During Restaurant Week and were very impressed with the offerings they had for this occasion. Long story short, the food was absolutely amazing, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to quickly and accurately answer any questions we had about the menu items. The space itself was very energetic; a lot of buzz in the dining room throughout the night. The short rib flatbread is an absolute must have, and I was very impressed with their chicken dish adorned with a fried egg; a lot of flavor in a petite package.

I've dined out many times in various Philly restaurants (particularly during restaurant week) and this was one of the best experiences I've had. The service was friendly, fast and attentive. The restaurant itself was designed very nice and made you feel like you still had some privacy even though the tables were close together. The food was fantastic. I loved everything I tried. I would definitely recommend Amada.

I've gone two years in a row now, and am already planning to go back next year. The special menu was almost identical the two years, which allowed me to have another taste of the things I remembered the most from last year, which were the lavender honey and the shrimp flatbread, while also trying something new. The melon con jambon has stayed with me, and that's what will bring me back next year. If you are dining on a budget, Restaurant Week is definitely the time to check this place out. Highly recommended.

My girlfriend and I decided to go to Amada for an early dinner on Sunday of Restaurant Week, and were generally impressed with the service, food, and atmosphere. This place is ideal for people who like to share, as you might expect from a tapas place, but the restaurant week setup gave us the chance to try eight dishes and two desserts between us. Among the highlights were the hanger steak brochettes, cod, and gambas. Simpler plates like the chorizo and manchego were well-executed and high quality. Although the best dishes were excellent (most of them), some of the other selections were decent but not particularly memorable. Would recommend.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday during Restaurant Week. Service was excellent. The Restaurant Week menu was fairly limited, and the choices I made (gazpacho soup, grilled chorizo, grilled calamari and chocolate cake) were very ordinary, and I do not feel was typical of the wow flavors that Jose Garces offers. To truly experience this place, I would come back for a full tasting menu.

We live in Allentown, so this was only our second trip. The first time we went with a group of 4 or 5 and ordered the chef's tasting menue, which was superb. This time we were only 2 and happened to go during restaurant week, so the menu was more limitted and there was no tasting menu. (I was warned about this when I made my reservation). However, there were several choices for the first and second course (only 2 dessert options) and you got to pick 2 each from the first and second couse lisings. The ambience was very nice (no tiny tables jammed right up against your neighbor's), the service prompt, and the food delicious. My favorites were the salad with arugula and fava beans in th first course and the calamari in the second.

We were a party of 7 with a res at 10PM on Friday night. The place was really busy, which is expected because it was restaurant week. We did not sit down until 10:30PM because there was a party before us that took a while to leave, so that was kind of annoying at first, HOWEVER, the manager greeted our table with a complimentary champagne toast which was greatly appreciated. The food was amazing, service was great, overall - it was a great dining experience and I would recommend it to anyone. Our server's name was Ben and he did a great job!

Overworked waiters still kept their wits, humor, and professionalism about them while they waited on you hand and foot. Conveniently located and easily to get to by public transportation (no need risking getting a parking ticket), since that's what my wife and I did. We took time out from our jobs to meet up and dine at this little quaint restaurant that auditioned a meal that you've expect from a place much bigger and elaborate. The chef truly showed us why he is an Iron Chef by deliberately presenting us with a medley of flavors fit for royalty. The myriad of flavors that accentuate your dinning experience humbles your spirit as you casually lets work go out to play for a moment. In other words, it's good eats! Go 4 It!

I enjoyed Amada very much. The food was spectacular and the service was impeccable. However, the only thing that I did not enjoy was the tight seating. I dined with my husband and we were seated next to two other couples. The tables were so close that each couple had their wife/girlfriend squeeze between the tables to sit in the booth. Because of this it felt awkward to have a conversation. Other than that the whole experience was amazing.

Amada does not disappoint during restaurant week. They offer 5 total selections per person (including dessert) so even only dining with one other person gives more than enough different tastes. My favorite items were the croquettes and the custard dessert. I couldn't place what was on top of the custard but perhaps it was finely diced pear-like fruit, craisin-ish item and some kind of chopped nut. Together it was unbelievably light but complex and delicious!

We were there for restaurant week and it was extraordinarily busy so I am not sure that the 3 star rating for service is fair. However, in my opinion, an establishment's management should be aware of very busy times and staff appropriately, so I cannot give them 5 stars for service as I feel our service was very lacking. This is not a place for a quiet, romantic dinner as the tables are about 6" apart and the noise level literally required my husband and I to yell at each other across the table to be heard. All that said, the food was exceptional from the gazpacho to the garlic shrimp. We also had the custard for desert which was over-the-top fantastic! Over all I would recommend this place highly, but not during restaurant week.

His looked at us and said "did you want something?" as if we were anoying him. Didn't care for his attitude at all. Forget about refills!
