AmadaTreat yourselfI plan to systematically try every item on the menu. Loved every morsel. Sangria is too perfect with the tapas.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOriginal and perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It is an original tapas restaurant with recipes and tastes that you find i the Mediterranean, so it is can be considered representative of its kind. Loved the selection of cheeses and cured meats which came together with great accompaniments.
Definitely a city-must!
Will go back again!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful meal each coursewonderful meal each course was better than the last . service was spectacular.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMfirst date with girl of my dreamsfood was great. ambiance was great. service was a little slow though. there were times throughout the night that we found ourselves waiting for periods of time.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the food and the LaurelNo need to talk about the food, rarely gets better. But a waitress like Laurel is hard to find, such a postive experience5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazinf fareSome plates werereally outstanding in both flavor and presentation.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything. Our PartyLoved everything. Our Party all got the tasting menu and we were very satisfied. Two words: white sangria5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSangria and TapasWe had a 6pm dinner reservation this past Saturday (this place books up fast - reserve in advance!) and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Excellent sangria and the plates are perfect for sharing - the crab stuffed peppers and bacon wrapped dates were stand-outs. I'd definitely return!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAmbienceI requested a nice table for my partner's 65th birthday and they provided us with a lovely table in the rear of the restaurant. The rest of the restaurant is much too loud and it would have been impossible for us to hold a conversation without screaming at each other.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDate nightMy date and I decided to give Amada a shot after seeing that it got excellent reviews. The atmosphere was nice; it was not too noisy and the lighting was romantic. The food was generally decent. Each dish ranged from being very good to tasty but nothing special though. The best dishes of the night were the mixto sampler, garlic dulce de leche cheese, Spanish octopus, shrimp a la plancha, and Wagyu sirloin with smoked eel. We were disappointed with the overly salty lamb meatballs, and the artichoke and mushroom flatbread was nothing special. As for cocktails; Matador, and Broken Hugs were very good. If we go again I would get the Tie Me Up Tie Me Down, just for the sake of the name. Overall, we had a very good experience.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite of Old CityBeen coming to this restaurant for over 5 years, and has not once disappointed. They have great food in the form of tapas, shared by the table, great ambiance, and great staff. Not to mention the best sangria I can find in the city that even closely resembles what I had in Spain.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time having brunch hereFirst time having brunch here and we really enjoyed it. We had actually been in for dinner on Friday with friends, and went for brunch here because of the proximity to our hotel. My husband loves the albondigas, he said they were done better during brunch then they had been the other night. Two complaints, the half lobster was overcooked and tough to eat, really a shame, and I wish our server had checked back with us more often, our food took ages and we were given no explanation (everyone around us was being served the same dishes we ordered, but were sat after us), and I would have liked to let someone know about the lobster.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAmada continues to be oneAmada continues to be one of the best restaurants we have eaten in anywhere. We have returned here many times and the food and service is always consistently the best.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to two of theWe have been to two of the other Jose Garces restaurants and have enjoyed all of them! The food is excellent.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe only dish that I did notThe only dish that I did not liked was the tortilla, it was not good at all.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best meals we haveOne of the best meals we have ever had. Our management team went there Monday evening; we are a dispersed team so we get together in various cities about every 2-3 months. We have eaten in some great restaurants as part of these meetings. Amada set a new standard last night! We chose to have the Chef make our selections and the wine pairings. It was an exceptional meal of 14 different tapas, including dessert, served in four courses each with its own wine.
Harrison was our waiter. He was very attentive and provided a great education about the tapas selections and the wines. The restaurant was bustling - both the table service and bar. We were seated immediately for our 7pm reservation. It was a GREAT NIGHT!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Time - Great TimeOur first time to Amada, and lived up to all expectations. Great atmosphere, helpful & fun staff, and some of the most delicious food I've ever experienced. We ordered the chef's tasting ($65/person) and were simply delighted, specifically with the lamb chops and a very unique salad (wrapped in Serrano ham).4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOnce again, the chef's selectionOnce again, the chef's selection aimed to please and did so exceedingly! Everything was delicious and were not items we would have ordered for yourselves. If it is out of your price range, be sure to try to ham and fig salad- unbelievable!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place was amazing! TookThis place was amazing! Go in expecting to splurge- and DO SO! You won't be disappointed!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection so IntenseAmada was perfect. The Chef's Choice tasting menu was impressive. Every course and every dish was impressive. The complex flavors and the immense waves of perfection was to die for. This was food, taste and an experience that I'd recommend to the most sophisticated foodies. I wouldn't miss another trip to Amada when I'm in Philly again.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMChorizo, Amada Burger andChorizo, Amada Burger and Red Sangria were AMAZING!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNear perfection - seat us on time!Wow great food and server was great. Could not have enjoyed this more ... except waiting 15 minutes for our reservation at 830pm. Not sure what they are thinking but more precision would be appreciated and I've noticed this issue in other write ups. There was no room at the bar, and meanwhile though we were not seated there were tables available. So we have to ding them. If they fix this - please pay attention guys - then this would be perfect.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoy all the Garces restaurantsWe enjoy all the Garces restaurants but Amada is becoming the favorite, at least for when we have children in the group. The food was great and all that nice light streaming in from outside during lunchtime against the dark woods was cinematic The service was particularly notable this visit. Can't wait to return.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved everything aboutWe loved everything about it. The spiced red Sangria was delicious.. Standouts were the lamb meatballs and the cheese accompaniments. We are definitely going back to try more off there menu.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI had lunch with my teenageI had lunch with my teenage daughter, and it was her introduction to tapas dining. We both enjoyed our meal very much. The last time I was there, with my mother, after a visit to one of the local museums in the area-there are multiple historic and cultural attractions within easy walking distance-there were grilled lamb chops on the menu, which were excellent, but they were not available this last visit.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant was highlyThis restaurant was highly recommended to us and it did not dissappoint. Unfortunately we didn't make resvations early enough and we had to take a 5 p.m. seating. The restaurant was packed from 5 p.m. when it opened, but not uncomfortably so. They did NOT rush us. The dinner was absolutely amazing. Tapas is quite a favorite for my husband and I and we had a taste of at least six dishes and they were all note worthy. The staff was incredible. (My husband is still raving about the lamb meatballs and pork ribs and I adored the octopus and the cheese selection) If you are in Philly, don't miss it and go there hungry, next time we are going to try dessert, we were too full this time.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first visit toThis was my first visit to Amada, and I'm definitely going back! Can't wait to return:)3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLost lustreUnfortunately, after a year my wife and I discovered that the exceptional quality of Amada has been lost. The waitress was very nice, but the reception was cold and indifferent, and the food was surprisingly ordinary - which was certainly not the case a year ago. What a disappointment.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat presentation and flavors,Great presentation and flavors, found to be a bit expensive.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my fifth time atThis was my fifth time at Amada with a large party and it was perfect. Excellent!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Amada was excellent. As always, Amada was excellent. However, this was our first time there for brunch. We loved trying the egg dishes, and our out of town guests were impressed with the food selection and fresh ingredients.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorites were the bacon-wrappeOur favorites were the bacon-wrapped dates, the short rib flatbread and the pernil asado, a generous portion of roasted pork. The pernil asado was so rich, we would have felt guilty to eat it were we not on vacation. I almost missed the short rib flatbread because I couldn't imagine that shredded meat on a flatbread would be delicious. But it turned out to be as good as the other review said it was.
The pear cake turned out to be the perfect dessert for our little group...a little bowl of tiny cakes.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinately need reservations,Definately need reservations, very busy place.
