Altura applies the focus of ingredient-driven Italian cooking to the natural bounty of the Pacific Northwest. Our chefs work tirelessly each day to highlight the most exciting seasonal products.

Chef Nathan Lockwood's tasting menu is at the heart of the Altura approach to dining. With a focus on wild foraged products, pristine Puget Sound seafood and locally raised heirloom meats and vegetables, our tasting menu exemplifies who we are. Expect to spend two to three hours enjoying ten to fifteen courses of our most inspired dishes.

For a less structured approach, diners are welcome to design their own experience by choosing three or more courses from our traditional menu. Our Sommelier, Ryan Schroeder, is always on hand to design a unique flight of paired wines or help you find the perfect bottle to highlight your experience.

  • "I reserved a spot for two here after reading and hearing great reviews, and was definitely not disappointed. The kitchen is open for viewing and provides a great sense of transparency. The wine pairings were fantastic as well as the food. The staff, although busy, was very open to conversation and explaining the preparation and ingredients of each dish. Overall, this has become my new favorite restaurant in Seattle. I would recommend to anyone."

  • "The food was well presented, flavors delicious (gnocchi was outstanding), the servers were very knowledgeable about the wine, and the service impeccable. That said, it is very small, noisy overall and our table for 2 was uncomfortably close to the table next to us right at the front entrance. We had the three course meal with wine parings. The wine pairings are $41 pp and I would have expected full glasses of wine (5oz) for a three course meal for that price. However they were tastings (maybe 3oz). Not sure if they were considered premium wines as I did not see the wine list. Overall, it was not really the ambiance I wanted for the occasion and left disappointed despite the top notch food."

  • "Food: I've had tasting menus around the country, from the top Michelin restaurants in NYC to top restaurants in Vegas and LA. While I ordered off the a la carte menu at Altura, I can say, without a doubt, the quality of food I had was on par or above many of the highly revered restaurants I've eaten at. Each course (appetizer, pasta, and entree) was absolutely delicious. The flavors were simple and bold and each component was prepared perfectly and complimented each other. The food was fresh, in season, and prepared immaculately. The only thing I can knock about the meal was that I didn't find the dessert to be very memorable (I found the cannoli bland, unexciting, and didn't finish much over half of it). Service: Pretentious."

The service was impeccable, seamless, unintrusive and timed precisely. I don't think either of us had an empty glass all night, or a wait between courses. And the food was divine!   • "The food is froo froo, but it does taste darn good! The service was off. We had a reservation but had to wait for 15 minutes to be seated. We also didn't get our first course until an hour after we sat down and the paired wines were poured a half hour before we got the food! We did the 3 course tasting menu with wine pairings (comes to about 100$ per person). I wish they had a la carte options, forced tasting menus are really stuffy. Two of our party got desserts instead of a pasta course leading to awkwardness when the pastas came out for two of us, but the other two were left with empty plates. We were starving at that point since it was 9:30 and we had only had apps so far. We wolfed down the pastas to get on with dinner."

  • "The food was great, but there were not enough servers serving tables. The place is small and packed. We waited more than 15 mins till the server came to say hi to us. He did not ask us for drinks or even take an order for drinks. When the 1st plate was brought, the server did not prepare any silverware for us. We were seated at counter. All the chefs cooking in front us were not friendly or anything. They did not care even we were wondering where our server was... There was definitely unbalance between food quality and service/hospitality. They definitely need an additional server for sure."

  • "This is one of my new favorite restaurants in Seattle. The food was absolutely delicious. The burrata with heirloom tomatoes was unlike any I've had before, the steak was better than any steakhouse I've had in Seattle (e.g. John Howie, Daniel's, Capital Grille, etc.) and the risotto with prawns melted in your mouth. On top of great tasting food, the service was first class. Our servers were attentive, but not intrusive. Worth every penny!"

When we first sat down they were sure to congratulate him which was a very nice touch. The service was impeccable and the food was so delicious! We have the chef's tasting menu, which took over 3 hours. the food was timed very well and at the end I couldn't believe we had been there for so long because the service and experience was so enjoyable. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

If you go, make sure you get the "beverage pairings" for an extra $45-95 per person, because these are the only patrons who get timely attention. My one glass of wine was fine, but $18 for a 4oz pour is ridiculous. My husband and I ordered a three course meal and an hour after we got there I had not yet been served my second course......"

It came with some delicious bread and a little amuse bouche from the chef. The plates are small but I was STUFFED at the end. They pace everything out so well and it was leisurely and lovely and they thanked me by name on the way out. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!"

  • "Went here for our wedding anniversary. We had the tasting menu, which is chef's choice of several small plates. Each plate was beautiful as well as tasty. Short rib stuffed octopus, chilled tomato and melon soup, the best rustic bread with truffles and green garlic butter, mmm....Very creative dishes, the freshest ingredients, executed perfectly. Our server was delightful. It's a small place with a romantic atmosphere, but it is a bit noisy (there's an open kitchen). My only regret is that we did not sit at the counter - would have loved to watch the chefs at work. Next time! This is a spendy treat kind of a place, our bill was close to $300 and we only had one drink each, but it was totally worth it."

However, the different tastes lack a harmony. I felt that there were actually too many small additions (e.g. herbs, edible flowers) without enough thought to create an overall good taste. There was no "wow" factor. The ambience was also rather plain-- not very special."

  • "Althea is definitely a place for foodies. The menu is a little difficult to understand at first, but easy to navigate once you understand how it all works. The tasting menu is quite pricey, especially with wine pairings. We opted for the 3 course which was more than enough and still pricey with wine. You absolutely must do the wine pairing because the sommelier has expertly paired outstanding Italian wines with each dish. The whole experience is a delight. The ambiance and service are just fine, but not anything extraordinary. It's all about the food here!"

  • "My experience at Altura was fabulous. It started with the warm welcome and a delicate small 2 ounce glass filled with a rhubarb drink that cleansed your palate. From there, we had a spring salad mix with flowers that were delicious. The bread that was drizzled in olive oil and baked with truffles in parchment paper was so good, every bite you ate was better than the previous.Next, we had sliced frozen sorrel and cherries in lime juice that was out of this world The gnocchi was perfect and not over cooked We had salmon for our entre dish It was seasoned and cooked to perfection We had a glass of rose to accompany our meal We had a chocolate drink with a small scoop of gelato in it. The dining experience at Altura was "Magnificent"!"
