A word from Altura
Altura Restaurant brings the seasonal emphasis of Italian cooking to the bounty of the Northwest with artisan technique. Guests enjoy the elegance of the freshest ingredients, simply prepared and perfectly presented. Chef Lockwood crafts his weekly-changing menu to celebrate the best, most seasonal products available, highlighting Northwest produce and foraged items where appropriate, as well as specialty Italian ingredients.

Similarly, the 80-bottle wine list strives to combine highlights from the Northwest with Old World selections from small producers in a range of styles. Wine Director Guy Kugel has hand-selected each label, and will pair wine flights, glasses, or bottles to suit the desires of each guest.

Altura encourages its guests to dine in the Italian style by providing a tasting menu coursed dinner format, whereby the guest chooses selections from three, four, or five course sections, or opt for our 7-course Chef's Tasting Menu.

  • "My experience at Altura was fabulous. It started with the warm welcome and a delicate small 2 ounce glass filled with a rhubarb drink that cleansed your palate. From there, we had a spring salad mix with flowers that were delicious. The bread that was drizzled in olive oil and baked with truffles in parchment paper was so good, every bite you ate was better than the previous.Next, we had sliced frozen sorrel and cherries in lime juice that was out of this world The gnocchi was perfect and not over cooked We had salmon for our entre dish It was seasoned and cooked to perfection We had a glass of rose to accompany our meal We had a chocolate drink with a small scoop of gelato in it. The dining experience at Altura was "Magnificent"!"

This was one of the most interesting, complex and well executed dinners we have had in Seattle - and we have been to most restaurants in town. That a place so spectacular is on the end of Broadway is rather amazing. Wait staff was awesome and very knowledgeable without being all puffed up. Every course was beautiful and delicious. If you want to be blown away - right here in town - go here. You will not find better."

  • "Needed to ask for bread service (and it does not appear that bread service requires separate ordering), utensil service not timely, and we needed to refill our own wine glasses during the course of the dinner. We've been to Altura a few times, and the service this time was noticeably sub-par. Finally, the almond cake desert was a bit dry for an almond cake, and the $15 surcharge (presumably for the drizzle of 25-yr aged Balsamic) was not worth it. On a positive note, the entrees were (like prior visits) very, very good."

With so many great dining choices in Seattle, it takes an exceptional level of attention to details to rise above the rest. Altura was amazing in both food and service. Chef Nathan's gnocchi with lamb, beef and iberico ragu was so delicious, I could have eaten just that and been happy. The spot prawn crudo pleased the eye as well as the tastebuds, being exquisitely presented as if in a food magazine. There was not a single misstep in our dining experience. The food and service feels like fine dining but this restaurant is casual enough that Seattleites who deem "dressing up" a distateful chore, will feel welcome."

  • "I had such a memorable experience the first time I had the pleasure of eating at Altura I chose it as my last supper in Seattle before we move to the bay area. At my first visit I was so in love with the fish dish I had I asked the server about the recipe. Chef Nathan came over himself and gave me a very detailed description of how to prepare the dish. It is always risky returning to a restaurant that you have previously idealized, but I was just as impressed and satisfied as the first time. Everything from the opening complimentary drink and amuse with large shavings of black truffle on top to the incredible range of menu items that you can customize to your taste. Service is excellent and the open kitchen concept is eye candy."

  • "I've been hearing a lot of good things about Altura from my friends so we decided to try for our anniversary dinner. I requested to have a table for 2 although that isn't always guaranteed as small partys are seated at the kitchen bar. They had tables available so we were able to sit at a table. The food was delicious and the wine pairings were perfect. We did the 3 course dinner as we had a late lunch. We were very full with the 3 course menu. We would have loved to have tried the 12 course chef's tasting menu though. Overall experience and service was great."

The food was top notch and the wine pairings superb. We found the kitchen to be creative and very professional. A terrific Seattle restaurant that combined Italian cuisine (phenomenal gnocchi) with a French flair, throwing in a local spot prawn crudo. We left trying to figure out how we could get the bill down so we could come more often."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner but felt it was over priced. The dish that really made us feel this way was the Steak special entry, which we paid extra money for. My husband and I shared the dish, and each one of us got two bites of steak. For my appetizer, I got 3 shrimps only. For $250 dinner, I would expect more....unfortunately, I do not see myself go back to this restaurant. Also - I mentioned over the phone that we are celebrating my husband birthday, and nothing special was done for this occasion. Not even a candle on the dessert."

  • "Altura is a special occasion restaurant given its price point and rich food, but the middle of your dinner, you'll wish you could justify eating at Altura once a week. The food is amazing -- artful combination of flavors, perfectly cooked and presented. The wine pairings are excellent and enhance the overall experience. They offer an extensive chef's tasting menu for that extra special culinary experience, but I love that you can also put together any combination of dishes in 3 or 5 courses. This is especially great for groups willing to share so you can taste more of the menu. I highly recommend sitting at the counter to interact with the chefs as you eat -- very fun. "

  • "Give yourself 3-4 hrs to enjoy the experience. We did 5 courses and the wine pairings with another couple. The wine pairings are a must. They are perfectly matched with each course and likely not wines you would normally have. I did two appetizers instead of dessert. Overall an amazing meal. A great way to catch up with friends/family. I was more than sated. Expect to spend $150-$200 each for a 5 course with pairings. Definitely a dining experience. If you don't live close by consider taking a taxi or car2go as parking can be challenging on the weekends. "
