Diner Reviews
  • "I tried a small portion of all items in the buffet and was very disatisfied with the flavor and consistency of the food. Every item was overcooked except the soup, fish (the rice was) and prime rib. The flavor left my palate wanting!"

  • "The food was great. Great flavors. Lovely surprise."

  • "The hostess who greeted us was rude. We finally got a table after waiting 40 minutes and are server did not greet us for almost 10minutes. I had to ask several times for a refill on my coffee. Food was ish. Wont go back."

  • "I dined here several times for breakfast and lunch over a 3 day conference. Location was convenient at the hotel but that was all. Food was disappointing. Lacked flavor. Server continually pushed the buffet option but the buffet selection was not good, again not tasty, and made me feel like my server just preferred I get my own food rather than bother with my table. Location is so close to other restaurants in the downtown area, if I had to do it again I would definitely get off site away from the hotel more and not eat at Altitude."

  • "The food was very flavorful. Nice menu selection. The staff was engaging. Wonderful experience overall would definitely dine there in the future."

  • "Service is very good and they are very attentive to your needs. No problems whatsoever. Keep it up!"

  • "This is a convenient spot when doing something downtown. Have been there before, but this time the service was just "OK" and the food was disappointing. They specialize in buffets, so maybe if I had wanted to eat more or not be served at my table, then maybe it would have been better. Have eaten here for dinner and brunch before and have had better experiences, so I can still recommend it."

  • "Burnt pasta sauce, dry froze deserts. Prim rib slicer had to hunted down, found walking around aimlessly, the seem to be annoyed by us asking for service."

  • "We went for Denver Restaurant week because they had an intriguing menu for it. The highlight of the meal was the pork belly appetizer. It was cooked perfectly crispy on top and tender and juicy on the inside. We had one of the featured wines that was recommended and were treated extremely well. There was only one featured dessert and when I didn't like it they provided me with one off the regular menu no extra charge. Nice. Overall very happy."

  • "This was one of those experiences that I wonder if the chefs and cooks every eat what they make. There were some quality items, but overall, quite bland, unexciting and just nothing special. Some items tasted like they were made from a box mix....and not a high quality box mix!"

  • "We were running late, with no reservations, and no place to go...when we discovered Altitude, a restaurant that we had never been to nor heard of. The food was exquisite, the service was great, and the ambience delightful. We plan to return there again and again!"

  • "I will say the food was good...nothing outstanding. My date and I had a really nice time, but just an ok experience."

  • "Enjoyed buffet (always very good deal) Enjoyable bottle of wine Nice staff"

  • "The food was great and the reservations were on time. However the wait staff needed additional help due to the large volume of patrons that evening."

  • "Was there for Valentine's Day dinner. Found out they had an all you can eat prime rib buffet which looked great so we both ordered the buffet. Lots of choices on the buffet other than the prime rib such as shrimp cocktail, baked fish and plenty of other entrees. Our biggest problem was with the wait staff. Considering we waited on ourselves for our meal using the buffet, it should have been easy to check on us every so often but not so. Too bad.... otherwise a good restaurant."

  • "Food was good but the menu on line was different than the menu at the restaurant. I specifically chose the restaurant for the menu I viewed on line. The service was good but very slow. The waitress was nice but she had way too many tables to handle for one person so it the service was slow."

  • "I took my wife and kids there for Valentine's Day, and although the place is very fancy, the food just doesn't taste that great. Also, I would expect better and faster service for a so called "upscale" restaurant."

  • "Everything we ordered was great, especially for the price in an upscale/fine dine restaurant."

  • "Service was very good and ambiance was excellent. Kids had a great time and food was nice but lacked selection. Wish they would add more in the future."

  • "We come here a lot. I like the location and the gift certificate participation by the restaurant is nice. We still wind up paying an average of $60 (if no wine) for two of us. Nevertheless, had a new kind of visit this time -- just appetizers and burgers. Good service but no energy (end of the night)."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner with our adult children. The food was delicious. The atmosphere festive and the wine list was decent! Our waiter was always available when glasses were empty! We have had our Christmas dinner at the Altitude Restaurant for the last 4 years and really do enjoy the relaxed mood. Thank you for a great dinner!"

  • "The food is not the best, but it is very easy if you are staying at the hotel."

  • "The restaurant is beautiful and the service is really good, but the food is not fantastic. We had the buffet for New Year's Eve. The antipasti, salad, and appetizers were delicious, but the hot dishes were mediocre. The ravioli was stuck together and the sauce was pasty, although the flavor was good so if I had ordered it a la carte, I think it would have been good. The meat was just so-so. The desserts were great, though. The ambiance was very nice and the booths were comfortable. The drink menu was good too. I would go back, but would not get the buffet again."

  • "My son and I went on Christmas Day. For $44 each we expected the food to be delicious. A couple of the items were but most were average tasting. Very disappointing. An expensive mistake."

  • "I took my family of five to Altitude for Christmas dinner and we had a lovely time. The carving station was great with a delicious variety of tasty tender meats. My only complaint is the side dishes, especially the delicious looking vegetables were surprisingly cold. I was excited to try the roasted Brussels sprouts as well as asparagus but was disappointed at the ice cold temperature. I wish they would have made more effort to keep these at least some what warm. Everything else was great. The sever and staff were friendly and it took all of the stress out of holiday dinner. We will probably go back next year."

  • "My boyfriend and I went for Christmas dinner so no shopping, cooking or cleaning Was the best part. It was a buffet so there were many many options and lots of vegetables . They took our drink order after we got our food which was the only thing that I thought was strange, perhaps this is a buffet thing. The staff was great and let us take our dessert to go."
    Dined on 12/25/2013
  • "About what I expected for a Christmas Buffet. The ham and turkey were quite tasty but the roast was dry and chewy. The layout isn't conducive to a buffet, but it the lines weren't that bad. Service was good and our waiter was very friendly. Given that the employees were working very hard on Christmas so I didn't have to cook, I was pleased with the experience. Kudos to the staff."

  • "We made a reservation at Altitude Restaurant for our family's Christmas dinner. At $45 per adult for a buffet, I expected the food to be above average. I was disappointed that the meats were dry, the vegetables were overcooked, and the deserts seemed like they had been sitting out too long. We definitely will not have Christmas dinner there next year. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice, and the friendly wait staff did an excellent job."

  • "While the restaurant is very nice, and the food well prepared, I seem to remember from past holiday buffets that there used to be a greater variety, instead of just the usual staples. I think a glass of champagne was once included in the cost. Layout could be better: a U-shaped buffet table caused congestion. Some items were arranged in a rather haphazard fashion, with some desserts at left and others at right. No plates at the carving table, so I had to cut through the queue to get one from the "bottom" of the U. Also, we were given only one set of cutlery: knife, fork, spoon. No salad or dessert forks. There is no view; the bar is dead, so definitely not "vibrant.""

  • "Had late reservation on Christmas but for $44/person we should still have decent service and not feel pushed out at the end of our meal The service was bad! Had to track down waiter every time we needed something, including a second round of drinks. Sat for about 20 min. after eating & the staff was literally taking down tables & stacking chairs around us, finally mentioned to someone that we were waiting for the bill, had to speak up again 5 minutes later when server still had not shown & this time got an annoyed look from two of the 6 people that were re-organizing the room around us! Food was mediocre at best. Next time I want to enjoy a nice holiday meal out...I will just pick a Chinese restaurant, at least I'll get my money's worth."

  • "This restaurant was one of the few downtown that was open on Christmas day. They had a very nice buffet with traditional (ham, turkey, stuffing, etc.) and non-traditional (Japanese squash ravioli, etc.) offerings. The food was good. But the server wasn't very on the ball when it came to getting our drinks, checking on us, or refilling drinks. It took forever to get the check. The tables were all squished close together and the table cloth on our table was so long everyone kept tripping over it and stumbling into our neighbor's table every time we tried to get up to go back to the buffet. Good food but poor service and poor layout."

  • "...a nice seat by the window (with a view of the 'big blue bear' was perfect for a nice relaxing Chirstmas morning breakfast - with none of the rush of a buffet crowd. Freshly made Eggs Benedict and of course Mimosas. Thanks,"

  • "This is the second year we've been to Altitude for Christmas Dinner and both times were excellent. Definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good holiday buffet."

  • "When I reserved this reservation I specifically noted that it was a birthday. My friend was turning 70 and I wanted to make it a special occasion for her. I also reminded the person who called to confirm the reservation. She said that it was noted. When we got to the restaurant I again told the hostess that this was a birthday celebration and to please tell our waiter. Alas, there was no mention. I was disappointed. It didn't feel very special for this celebration. I did tell the manager on the way out. He did apologize. Too late."

  • "Fantastic views of the city w windows all around. The chairs r very heavy & loud when u have to get up or scoot in. The food is good, not great as u would expect w a fancy hotel & such a beautiful place. The ambience is fabulous & I found the restaurant to b kid-friendly yet I can see that it would also b romantic as well. Overall the experience is a great one. The 5 star experience does not match the 3 star food unfortunately. We had dessert up on the the 27th floor @ The Peak Lounge & the dessert was 5star yet the service was 3 star."

  • "The atmosphere, food and service was great! I had the Buffalo Burger w/ sweet potato fries and my wife had their Cobb Salad. Both meals were very good, prepared just the way we liked it and very filling. I highly recommend it for nice time out in downtown."

  • "We enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner at Altitude Restaurant. The buffet was plentiful and varied, I only wish my stomach could hold more so I could get a real value for the price! The only downside to eating such a nice dinner is there are no leftovers. However, I highly recommend visiting the Peaks Lounge on the 27th Floor after you eat, since the view of Denver and the Front Range is amazing, especially at sunset. We will definitely be back there for sure!"

  • "We had dinner before a Mannheim Steamroller holiday concert. Our wives both had the lamb, and thought it was great. My friend and I had the braised buffalo pappardelle, and that was very good, too. The restaurant is convenient to the theater district."

  • "I chose Altitude because of the good reviews it received for the Thanksgiving buffet but was highly disappointed. There was a long line to go through the buffet filled with all types of non-traditional foods. A separate carving station had turkey, dressing, etc. The serving size of turkey was tiny and the stuffing very mushy. The desserts were very average...extremely unhappy especially after spending $44 per person."
