A word from AltaMare
ALTAMARE is the new restaurant by highly-acclaimed restaurateur Claudio Giordano. The warm and inviting restaurant designed by Juan Carlos Arcila-Duque features an open kitchen, chef’s table, intimate bar and private dining room. As many menu items feature daily-caught fish, menu items are subject to change.

Altamare is located on the west end of Lincoln Road, just steps away from the new promenade and public plaza, perfect for an after-dinner stroll.

  • "We returned to AltaMare after being away for a couple months but were warmly greeted as regulars and we given two tables pushed together for a two top so we could sit side by side on the bench and watch the room. The food was wonderful again from the appetizer ceviche grouper to the chocolate filled chocolate cake. Our server was outstanding allowing us to pace our course deliveries to our liking."

  • "My friend and I had an awesome dinner here last Thursday. It was my first visit despite living here for 12 years. We had the mussel starter and we devoured it! And we both had different pasta dishes for our main course. We loved it! Only downside was that the table for two is very small. Once you have the wine glass, starters, bread and main course, it's full and it's very close to the next table. A large family group was seated next to us and we had to tone down our conversation. On the night we dined, there were fruit flies or flies buzzing around our table. Was very annoying. Overall, I highly recommend it for the food. :-D"

  • "We were constantly flagging down inattentive waiters. Brought out wrong main for me even though an alternative "set up" was offered by the server using the same fish, which I chose. I didn't appreciate seeing him gesturing towards me while scolding the cook, nor did I like it when he threw the cook under the bus while he apologized to me. Wrong dessert brought out. Had to flag down servers THREE separate times, one to order dessert, another to take back wrong dessert and then to get the bill. Everyone was too busy running around and manic to give us proper service even though the three of us ordered three courses plus multiple drinks. Food was excellent but not good service for the price."

  • "I've ate at AltaMare several years ago and had a god experience. This time was much different. Food was just ok- to poorly prepared. Our fresh mozzarella salad had no balsamic- which I thought was very odd. I had Brussels sprouts - which were served with a slightly warmed pancetta. Pancetta should be crisp! My red snapper was ok- but covered with an odd concoction red sauce. Did nothing for the flavor. Service, like everywhere in Miami, was poor.y"

  • "We ate outside on a Sunday night. The noise level was low, but inside it was more energetic. The service was very friendly and attentive. One of the better margaritas in South Beach. My wife had the tilefish and loved every bite of it. I had a fish stew that was tomato based with a generous amount of shell fish in it. It was superb. This place is a bit off the beaten track in South Beach but definitely worth the visit. They have valet parking for which there is a charge, but given the dearth of parking places in SB, its a nice convenience,"

  • "I reviewed the menu online and thought it had some interesting and unique dishes. When we arrived, we were seated immediately. Even though the restaurant was less than half full, the waiter kept rushing us. This was our 1st time there so we needed to review the menu, but he kept coming back to take our order. Everything was fast there from the time you were seated to receiving the check. I felt they just wanted to get you out if there. As for the food, the grouper fish cakes were served cold. The portions were small especially the skirt steak."

Unique seafood offerings had my tastebuds awake and almost had me in butterflies waiting 2 see what my server was going 2 put in front of me next. I gave up my table reservation 2 sit at AltaMare' s spacious bar. Thomas, our knowledgeable and attentive bartender, made excellent recommendation in food and then paired them perfectly with delicious wine and spirit."

  • "Valentine's night. We arrived at 9.15pm, time of our reservation. They offered us a table outside, and I think that was a great mistake. Once you're sitting outside, the details of a good restaurant dissolves. Too mucho noise, too much "south beach", but I repeat, no more class A service. 10 minutes after ordering drinks, I had to ask again for them. Tables so small that two plates and some bread definitely...don't fit. Octopus carpaccio...too much olive oil and too cold, so too many fluids in the plate (water and oil). Pan seared Hog was really good, and the risotto was good (not as good as the hog, but it was ok) Having said this, I think if there is a next time, definitely, I will try inside."

  • "Great place, not many vegetarian options ended up ordering a bunch of sides (sautéed mushrooms, oven baked cauliflower and steamed bok choy), none if which were worth mentioning. My date was happy w her Thai mussels and octopus. The wine was brought out and they didn't offer to taste it before pouring which was odd. Our server Daniel was outstanding. Eating outside was lovely and the place has a great energy, I recommend a visit but if you are vegan, vegetarian, gluten free or any other dietary restriction avoid."

  • "My husband and I went friday night, we live in sobe Got 3 apetizers, calamari carpaccio, grilled calamari and cobia cevice. Then we shared the palombo fish and we got a heavenly kind of dulce de lece. The food was very fresh, light and perfectly done, we got 2 bottle of champagne and had the best time. The italian waiter was very cool and attentive as well, always ready available and nice. Definetly ona if the best rest in south beach."

The sides were similar to what one would expect in a cafeteria. Not sure what happened but Alta Mare is off the list for us. Too bad."

  • "This restaurant sits just outside the Lincoln Mall area. Outdoor seating is great. The best thing on the menu is the fried yellow tail snapper. This isn't your typical fried fish. It's very lightly floured. No batter. They serve the whole fish deep fried. It was crispy, piping hot and melt in your mouth good. Highly recommended."
