  • "Amongst the hype of fine dining establishments in JAC that are very from that, whether it be the awful Couloir or the appallingly staffed Westbank Grill, it was nice to find the Alpenrose which is kitsch and quaint and exactly what the lid on the box says it is. Very nice change and good to not be served by disinterred back packers living the dream of average snow and gagging for tips for doing not very much.... Would go back again for sure."

  • "The Alpenrose has been on our list of favored restaurants in Teton Village for many years. This time we started with a mushroom appetizer special. The mushrooms are baked in a small ramekin with cheese. It was delicious. For main course my wife had the excellent Antelope and I had the (small) Wiener Schnitzel. The Schnitzel was served with delicious spaetzel and red cabbage. Dessert was the Vafler (waffles) and Sacher Torte. The Vafler is exceptional. For wine we chose an Austrian red ... very unique. The wine list has several Austrian, Swiss and German selections. We recommend the Alpenrose when you crave southern German, Austrian, Swiss cuisine and ambiance."

  • "We have dined several times at the Alpenrose over the years. We usually go for the fondue but this time we ventured into the rest of the menu. I had the special duck salad ... duck breast and fresh greens... it was very hearty and delicious. The main course was the Juniper Antelope which is beautifully presented and delicious. I cannot recommend it highly enough. For dessert I had the Quark Custard and ice cream. Others in our party had the Jagerschnitzel and the Bison Bratwurst fondue which is always a winner. We tried an Austrian red wine from Esterhazy. It complemented the meal very well. Service was very good and the European quiet atmosphere is to our liking."

  • "We had a great dinner--Salads had delicious dressing, Weiner Schnitzel, fish all were delicious. The dessert-chocolate fondu was very good. Other tables were eating cheese fondu and meat fondu, but we do not like much cheese nor meat. Service was good and we will go back. We had lunch at the bistro, and they were very good as well. the locals told us that is the best place to eat lunch."

  • "This ia restaurant you want to forget about. The service was very slow - usually a 15 to 20 minute wait between courses. The Alpen Fondue - you couldn't taste the cheese because the apples were so sour. The Wiener Schnitzel was about as thin as a dollar bill, loaded with coating, and very fried. The spaetzle was small, hard, and served at a tepid temperature. We ordered Apple Strudel and it was cold (not warm)."

  • "So the Alpenrose has as Swiss flag in the menu - well if you aspect then swiss food - you will be disapointed. The range is from Bavaria/Swabian (Sauerkraut), Austria (Wiener Schnitzel, Apfelstrudel), Swiss (Cheese fondue), French (wine & Meal fondue) to Italian (Pork Milanese). The cooking itself is instead nothing Europe like - someone is trying the best . (but still trying) We had the "Taste the Alps" menue - cheese fondue, Wiener Schnitzel and Apfelstrudel. Cheese fondue was okay, Wiener Schnitzel needed spice, potato cucumber salad schould be learned instead of offered, Apfelstrudel was okay - but the wrong apple type - do not use granny smith for Apfelstrudel - check recipe. In the end we were disappointed and above all still hungry."

The Jagerschnitzel was lighter than expected and delicious as was the spaetzle. The purple cabbage could have been more acidic but was good. The apple strudel was fair. We enjoyed the evening but would likely not return or recommend to friends. There did not seem to be any "life" to the place although there were several parties at near-by tables."

  • "My daughters liked the fondu when we took them to the Alpenrose a few years ago, so we were returning for a celebratory dinner after one of their school concerts. The service was unnecessarily slow (3 other tables) and they did not have chocolate fondu (a signature food item). The rest of the food was nothing special and did not make up for these downfalls! Will probably not return. I am a local and will spread the word!"

Turns out so did several people in ski suits, boots, etc. We thought it was a "fine dining" restaurant and we would have a menu to choose from for Easter Sunday. It was a buffet, nothing special, nothing really that good. Disappointing. The Restaurant is clean, and pretty, but that is about all."

We also ordered the $7 side of mushrooms with the cheese fondue and it was 3 mushrooms - not entirely fresh - sliced up. That was it. The service was very good. Ceaser salad didn't have enough dressing - that's the first time I would actually have asked for more dressing. So some missteps on food but overall good."
