A word from Almond
Almond, an American bistro located in New York City’s bustling Flatiron District, combines the best of farm-to-table cuisine in a casually elegant atmosphere.
Co-owner and Executive Chef Jason Weiner offers a menu of accessible dishes that put market-fresh ingredients center stage. Classic Almond dishes include Steamed Black Mussels with Shallots and White Wine and Roast Chicken with Hand-Crushed Potatoes and Natural Jus, while a list of “plats du jour” range from Roasted Whole Fish to Heritage Farms Porkchop to Rack of Lamb.
Our wine list, handpicked by co-owner Eric Lemonides, offers an affordable selection of wines from regions across France and California. A specialty cocktail list, New York state craft beer selection, and raw bar selections are all available, along with our entire menu, at the restaurant’s spacious 20-seat bar.

Private dining spaces are perfect for larger parties and a hidden European-style billiards room adds to the restaurant’s charm.

I've been there twice in a month. Both time the food was really incredible and very well presented but the service wasn't great at all. It can be very noisy as well but can be fun if you're looking for that kind of ambience. They have organic/local produces which is very nice and they have a nice wine list as well.

I've eaten here at least 20 times but never again. It was more like a drunken frat party than a restaurant. Management completely lost control. Add to that the steady deterioration of the food...never again

Service was fantastic. Even though some our party was late they were very accommodating. We got extra warm bread when they arrived and we never felt rushed during the entire meal even when we lingered at the end. Menu had many varied choices which met the needs of all our guest. Would definitely recommend.

I ate at Almond with my mom, boyfriend, mom's friend and her son on 10/8/14. We had an absolutely delightful experience. Everything the waiter suggested was delicious and there was a great ambiance. It's decorated very nice inside as well. We spent 3 hours eating, laughing, drinking and talking. The pot roasted chicken with potatoes and kale/spinach was so good! We also enjoyed several desserts. I would definitely go back to Almond and recommend it for a date or just a night out with friends/family.

We were entertaining Italian guests who are very accustomed to fresh, well prepared foods. Almond was a perfect choice since it offered a varied and very fresh menu, with all of the offerings prepared in an interesting and healthy way. They loved the menu and at our reccomendation decided on the prixe fixed lunch, which included a great salad, cod dish with mussels, an choice of wine or beer. For dessert they chose the Almond version of a chocolate mousse. The service was excellent and the portions just right. Hope to return there for brunch some time soon.

I thought the food was poor. I ordered the scallops and it was dressed up with so many other things on the plate that it lost the flavor of enjoying the scallops. The same with the tomato mozzarella salad. It should be more simple, not with so many greens. And, the tomatoes and mozzarella should be more substantial. When you skimp on the food, especially something like tomatoes and mozzarella, you lose the wonderful flavor of the two.

  • Wine Charge stupidity
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 9/7/2014
Exactly how it sounds, me and my girlfriend wanted to celebrate her b-day at this restaurant and brought a wine bottle from a local liquor store for this place to open for us. We paid $13 for the bottle at a local liquor store. But here, the waiter said that this restaurant has to charge us $25 extra just to open the bottle. Are you serious? Pay money just to open a stupid wine bottle. We would've been fine with at least $5 but 5x that amount is a little insane. Was not happy about that. If you're going to charge your customers to have a wine bottle open, that is a little ridiculous. It's bad enough that getting a wine glass is $10-$12, but paying more money like that is kinda lame.

I really wanted to like this place!! However, there was no air conditioning on a 90 degree night, it was so loud you could barely hear yourself talk, and the chocolate brioche ice cream sandwich dessert was one of the worst dessert let downs that has ever happened to me. I know the namesake is popular in the Hamptons but unless you're there with enough people to take over half the restaurant in the wintertime when no AC is needed and everyone has sugar/bad dessert allergies, I wouldn't recommend it. You're better off going somewhere else in the area.

this is a very consistent high performing restaurant - good value for the neighborhood (Gramercy Park) - it's rustic casual, and the food is not fussy, but is well-sourced, perfectly cooked and seasoned and interesting enough to return to - that we've been here for our 5th time is astonishing, when you think about all the NYC dining options - but it is reliable and fun. nice wines by the glass, nice beers on tap. a daily plat du jour is always good. 'trendy' salads, ie, grilled watermelon - not as sharp as their standards, but the food is good. hanger steak worth repeating. good burger. gorgeous grilled artic char. and they're open long hours, which is nice.

This place is perfectly adequate. The decor is fun and the menu has something for everyone and it's reliable. The acoustics stink however so conversation is always a struggle. The waitstaff is well trained and attentive but the food is often a little underwhelming. E.g. The tomato in a BLT should be excellent but it was bland and thin. The fries were good.

Food, atmosphere and outdoor seating were all good. The service was terrible. We waited a long while for anyone to approach the table and getting our order taken didnt happen for about 25 min into sitting. We had to ask for milk for the coffees 4 times before eventually asking a table busser for it. It was not crowded, so its hard to understand the problem. Lastly, and maybe most importantly, the waitress was cold, mean and rude. She seemed like she didnt want to be there. She couldnt muster a smile, a hello, or really any basic waitress skills. She pretty much ruined the whole experience. The 4 of us will not be coming back.

The caprese salad and whole Branzini for two that we shared were very especially fresh and good. However, the Branzini would have been better without the bitter tomato based sauce smothered on the sides on the plate. The service was another matter. The waiter was generally good but insisted that my drink order was Absolut and grapefruit juice. I had ordered Absolut with cranberry and grapefruit juice. When I told him, he added a small amount of cranberry juice, which changed the color, but not the taste. Also, he insisted I had ordered what he originally brought. The restaurant made a big deal about fileting the fish, insisting that they prefer to be more "rustic." I could see that if it was a fish for one.
