A word from Almayass
"There is no sincerer love than the love of food"
The essence of Almayass is best described
"...when the hanging leaves dance to the rhythm of delicate breeze."

We enjoyed the food and found
their service staff to be attentive. But there was something off about this place. (1) Lighting: Lights are not well-located to add a nice ambiance. It's gray all over and feels heavy, which bothered me a little. (2) Noise: It bounces everywhere. They don't have loud music; but since they lack any sound absorbing materials, it felt noisy when it wasn't even full. There are many tables for groups of 4 or more, so people talk, which would add to the noise level. Food is good. Well prepared and presented."

I must have dined at Almayaas over
20 times and every time was a great experience. The food is always consistently delicious . This is the only place where you truly get authentic Armenian and Lebanese cuisine."
Dined on 4/6/2014
It was a warm welcome into a
lovely space that began our dinner. The service -- from busboys to an attentive manager - was terrific. I came for the Armenian-Lebanese cuisine and it was fresh and wonderfully flavorful. I'll return again and again."
Dined on 4/5/2014
Outstanding Lebanese and Armenian
cuisine. The same quality of good food you would get in a great restaurant in Beirut. The service is also outstanding with people trying to give you the best service possible. Also true to the Lebanese experience. Guests who were trying this cuisine for the first time were blown away."

The grilled meats were not as good
as the starters"
Dined on 4/3/2014
Almayass is always consistently
delicious and the service is excellent. The servers know the menu well and are very helpful with suggestions to those who may not be so versed in Lebanese/Armenian food. Much appreciated! The restaurant itself is beautiful and artistically laid out. It's good for group outings as well as an intimate night out or a business occasion. I highly recommend it!"
Dined on 4/1/2014
Great food. I really liked the
tannapour soup - well made and tasty. The other dishes were great too, though a little too meat heavy"
Dined on 3/31/2014
Food was better than average, but
service was pretty bad. I think its because it was so busy, but they could have been more attentive. Wine came very late even though it was the first thing we ordered. Tea also came very late after the dessert was almost finished."
Dined on 3/29/2014
I thought the food was very good
and the place is beautiful. I would go back. The only negative is that people at the table next to us were so loud -- but that isn't the restaurant's fault. What can I say? Good food, good but not stellar service, and a beautiful ambiance. The bathrooms get an A+, something I wish I could say about more places."

My wife and I dined at Almayass
and will definitely be returning soon. This branch of an authentic Lebanese restaurant is a marvelous, restful oasis from the hectic city chaos for businesspeople and travelers alike. Our waiter Roy and his attentive assistant Eddie made us comfortable and provided help in navigating the wonders of the menu and wine list. We tried two cold and two hot appetizers with one main as recommended. The highlights were the Mantee Traditional--little boat-shaped ravioli in a succulent yogurt sauce and the main, Sweet & Sour kebab, ground meat in an imported (from the mother restaurant in Beirut) cherry sauce. We'll return for these two again--SOON!"
Dined on 3/20/2014
This is our third time dining here
and this time we brought good friends who were also blown away with how good everything was. You can tell that this restaurant really cares about their cliental. Great food and warm and friendly service."
Dined on 3/22/2014
Great food with some inventive
touches and menu choices that separate it from many other Middle Eastern/Lebanese restaurants at which we've eaten"
Dined on 3/15/2014
Good for dinner when parents are
visiting from out of town!"
Dined on 3/15/2014
As a frequent diner at Almayass in
Beirut, Lebanon I was not sure what to expect at the NYC location. A more modern look, even better service and the same exceptional Armenian-Lebanese food as in Beirut. It simply does not get better than Almayass as you will rediscover original twists to many traditional Lebanese dishes and discover superb new dishes including Borek, Sujuk with Quail eggs, Sweet and Sour Beef, etc. Don't miss this wonderful dining experience!"
Dined on 3/15/2014
On all counts, very enjoyable
find, delicious food, great service and ambiance. A cut much above the average Mediterranean places serving similar food. Don't miss it!"
Dined on 3/10/2014
We were looking for a nice place
in the flat Iron neighborhood to take a group of 8. We were so happy with the food, service, and ambience! We will definitely go back when we are in NYC."
Dined on 3/8/2014
We had the soujjak hummus,
Armenian salad and fillet delight. It was very fresh, filling, and healthy. The restaurant is spacious and very well decorated. It feels like a familial place and I'd definitely go back!"
Dined on 3/7/2014
Excellent food and service. The
waiting staff took great care of us and made it a very special evening for my wife's big birthday. Go and enjoy yourself in this well appointed restaurant."
Dined on 3/6/2014
Solid food choices. Executed
well Even salads are very tasty. Nice ambience - enjoyed it"
Dined on 3/6/2014
$25 set lunch. Started with a
glass of tempranillo -pretty good. Warm pita and cracker bread are brought with olives, labneh and a pesto-like zattar. Nice, but small portions. Set lunch includes two starters - I had the sour (yogurt based) tannabour soup, my colleague the lentil. Soups were very good. My Armenian salad was very much like an Israeli cucumber tomato salad. My colleague's Almayass salad kind of like a Greek salad. The main courses were a kofta kebab for me and a chicken kebab for my colleague. Fluffy rice accompanied the grilled meats. Excellent. I thought the kofta was kind of half way between the Lebanese kofta and the Iranian koobideh. Finished with an Armenian coffee. The waitstaff were both professional and pleasant."
Dined on 3/4/2014
I must say, this restaurant is
amazing. The food is delicious, I would recommend eating family style than people getting their own appetizers and entrees. By eating family style, the whole table is able to experience the wonderful flavors together. This was our second time there and both times were amazing. The staff and servers are most helpful in making suggestions to maximize your dining experience. Can't wait to go back again!!!"

colorful dining room and terrific
tasty dishes make this a great spot in the neighborhood"
Dined on 2/27/2014
I have been here several times now
and the food is consistently excellent. There is nothing I have tried here that I did not love. It's a great place for a group as the menu has many options, encourages sharing, and can accommodate vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The service is warm and professional. Just terrific in all respects."
Dined on 2/22/2014
We dined at Almayass on a recent,
very snowy and cold Saturday night. It was nearly empty when we arrived but the dining room was full when we left. The food from start to finish was some of the best Middle Eastern cuisine we've ever tasted--and we have eaten in dozens of Middle Eastern restaurants. Lamb was buttery and tender, kebabs were beautifully seasoned, appetizers were fresh and flavorful. The dining room is spacious and modern but still tied to its ethnic origins. A wonderful evening and worth many repeat visits!"
Dined on 2/15/2014
I'm Armenian and this food tasted
like my mom's cooking! We ate the mantee, fatoush, humus Almayass, and kebab and all were amazing. Great service. Highly recommended!"
Dined on 2/18/2014
We were three friends who rarely
get to spend time together and decided to spend the weekend in NY but had limited local knowledge but knew of Almayass through relatives. The restaurant did not disappoint. The food was authentic and delicious. The waiters were attentive and very helpful at recommending the perfect choices. We were allowed to relax over our meal and visit with each other. The experience could not have been more perfect."

My lady and I have been looking
for a Lebanese restaurant that is a cut above the cafeteria style joints one usually comes across for middle eastern fair. I found Alamayass on a google search, liked the photos and the menu which was much more advanced than what i've been used to so far in regards to Lebanese food. And the prices worked for my budget. Since it was Valentines day, like most guys I waited till the last minute to make a reservation, I set up our dinner for 10 PM, but managed to get a 9 PM seating any way. The food lived up to my expectations as well as my bill! Our waiter was great, helped us navigate a menu full of unfamiliar dishes. The little gold hearts sprinkled all over our table cloth was a nice romantic touch. Kudos!"

Very nice decor, friendly staff,
excellent food. I will definitely recommend and return!"

I'm not sure how many times I've
been to AlMayass, more importantly how many different types of groups I've brought for dinner or drinks, the one thing I can count on is the great food and fun we will all have. This place is not the young hot and trendy kind of place but who needs that when you will enjoy amazing cocktails, great wine and the best food outside of Beirut. I've been around the world and my favorite cuisine tends to be Lebanese not just for the flavors and the fact that it's one of the healthiest foods out there but no one knows how to make eating an experience you won't forget like the Lebanese. Whenever I visit AlMayass I'm reminded of that. Service with a real smile and delicious food consistently!,"

I liked the food a lot, it is a
very peculiar fusion of Armenian, Lebanese and Mediterranean in general with some NYC adaptation perhaps. Ambiance is nice, service is great. You feel special and privileged."
Dined on 1/27/2014
The Armenian-Lebanese menu is
unusual and delicious -- you need several visits to sample the wide variety of food. Although the meat and vegetable dishes predominate, be sure to try the fish. It was exceptional. Among your appetizers, try one of the half-dozen varieties of hummus. The service here was on a par with the most elegant restaurants in New York, but the prices were much more moderate. A great experience, fit for a really special occasion."
Dined on 1/25/2014
Almayass is one of my very
favorite restaurants in New York City. As per usual, the dinning experience was very good--the food is absolutely wonderful. However, this last trip, once we finished eating, we were completely forgotten about. We weren't immediate.y brought dessert menus or our check and we were never brought our end of the meal grapes which I always look forward to. I will still absolutely come back to Almayass and recommend it to friends."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Almayass is an excellent
restaurant, beautiful and clean. The service is outstanding and the food is delicious. I was happy that all my friends were nicely surprised, and they said they will go back again."
Dined on 1/19/2014
If you find most NYC restaurants
claustrophobic, this is for you. It's one of the more spacious restaurants I've seen in this price range. The servers tried to convince that only a four-course meal would be filling, but that's really not necessary unless you have a massive appetite. That was a bit deceptive. The Hummus was very good, if small. The Mantee Spinach was a surprisingly large portion of surprisingly small, hard ravioli cut in half. An okay but strange dish. The bronzini fillet (the only fish entree) was really excellent; the sauce was amazing. The Almayass Delight (beef kebab) was also quite good. The service was attentive and helpful. The space is attractive overall, yet the view can be extremely boring from many/most seats."
Dined on 1/18/2014
This place is lovely, and the food
was good, but I can get equally good Middle Eastern food at half the price. The waiters were intrusive, continually trying to push certain dishes that we didn't want. I told the waiter at the beginning that I am very allergic to bell peppers and he said he would be aware of that with our order, then brought us a side dish of vegetables that was 50 percent green bell peppers."
Dined on 1/17/2014
As an Armenian American who had
the luxury of the best home cooking, I must admit that Almayaas has the finest authentic cuisine. I have been to Almayaas at least 15 times and every time was a better experience. Love it!!!"
Dined on 12/28/2013
The only Armenian/Lebanese
restaurant in town. I have been there twice and both times the food was excellent, not to mention the service and the ambiance. As for the desserts...they are to die for:-)"
Dined on 1/13/2014
Was impressed the minute we walked
in the door. The hostess greeted us with a warm smile. The ambiance is beautiful unlike any restaurant I've been to. The service was phenomenal. My waiter was knowledgeable and suggested great dishes. The food was outstanding! Well seasoned well executed and beautifully plated."
Dined on 12/27/2013
One of the better restaurant
experience I've had in NYC."
Dined on 1/8/2014
We have been here a few times and
Almayass is always consistent. The food, service and their attention to details are getting better by each visit. A great place that everyone should experience. Keep it up!"
