Diner Reviews
  • "We came for the first time on a Thursday @ 4:30pm to celebrate our 4th anniversary. We started off with a glass of Chandon and a rye Manhattan and then asked for the truffle fries and Portobello mushrooms as an app. They were both delicious, mushrooms melt in your mouth . I followed up with the sirloin steak and my husband got the salmon. Steak was perfectly cooked and tasty with plenty of marbling and my husband scarfed down his meal and told me he would come here again; so I know he was happy with his dish. We got the banana cream pie for desert and the homemade caramel in the pie was to die for...Really really good. The pie came with a side of caramel corn and dried bananas, wonderful combination of sweet and salty."

  • " Unfortunately, our dining experience was quite disappointing. The antipasto platter said it came with "multiple cheeses", when actually it came with two extremely thin slices of cheese and few pieces of blue cheese crumble-disappointing to say the least. Also, we both got the lobster ravioli which was lacking any sort of flavor. Given the high price we were quite discouraged with the restaurant."

  • "Very nice restaurant on Hingham Harbor in the Hingham Shipyard. Expensive but they are price appropriately for the presentation and food quality. They have a nice cocktail area outside with a huge gas fireplace. Some outdoor seating as well and most of the seating is inside and very nice."

  • "Loved the food, steak was cooked to perfection, so tender you could cut it with a fork. Service was impecable waitress was very informative and helpful. Prices are reasonable"

  • "Sitting outside on a beautiful day, a little overcast but that kept the hot sun from ruining our dining experience. Food was great, service was great, not rushed, food came out with perfect timing. Not too loud nor too quiet...drinks were awesome as well. I'm a sucker for a good cucumber martini and the L'il English was fabulous! It was worth the 1-1/2 hour ride....We will be back!"

  • "My wife and I stopped in for a sunday lunch and were seated on the terrace with a view of Hingham harbor (very scenic.) It's located in a whole shopping/ dining complex on the harbor (one stop shopping/eating for many things.) Well, I had the soup and sandwich special (roast turkey- with lettuce, tomato, and cheese with a dijonette mayo on brioche with a cup of chowder. ) Just the right amount of food and the chowder and sandwich were delicious. My wife had the portabella mushroom sandwich with french fries. As usual we shared- and her sandwich was very tasty on the same brioche bun. The fries were cut very thinly and done to perfection with a sprinkle of sea salt. I highly recommend this place for a lazy afternoon lunch on the bay."

  • "After waiting many weeks for Sat night reservation I honestly can say, not worth the wait. The rib eye special was tasteless and tough. The service was not great. The ambiance was nice. I enjoy Wahlburgers a lot more."

  • "We've been before it was "famous" and it was great then. Not so much now. Waitress was slow, 2 drinks we ordered never came. Calamari was very good. I had fish and chips. Fish was good but small portion and the fries were mcdonalds. Good deserts. Overall: $200 for 2 adults and 2 kids, save your $$ go somewhere else"

  • "Being such a fan of the Wahlberg boys and the tv show, I have since wanted to dine at Alma Nove! I'm a chef and I have visited and dined in a few fine dining restaurants around the world and I found Alma Nove wonderful and the food fantastic, I was not disappointed!"

  • "Our 14 year old grandson asked if we could go there to celebrate "Grammie"s" birthday. We traveled from north of Worcester and spent a fabulous evening. The food was great, the restaurant is gorgeous, the service was top-notch. My husband asked Paul if he'd stop by our table to say hello to our grandsons because they are huge fans and he very graciously did so and took a picture with them. Walked around outside after dinner and just enjoyed the entire evening. We'll certainly make the trip again."

  • " Enjoyed a week night dinner with friends we hadn't seen in a long time. The service was excellent as was the food. We were tucked in a both and it was cozy - the noise level was moderate but did not affect our conversation a clearing thunderstorm provided a gorgeous red sunset which was beautiful! The waitress was great - came by often enough and our foursome lingered talking for a time after - and we never felt pushed or rushed. A really enjoyable night. Highly recommend the chicken and the desserts; especially the spiced chocolate cake and the strawberry rhubarb crisp were worth every calorie!! Wonderful evening!"

  • "The food at Alma Nova always good, their Panini lobster sandwich is so good. This was the first time that my friends had been here and they will be back. Loved all of it. Also celebrated a friends birthday and they gave her a wonderful piece of cake. Great place, great food."

  • "This was the 2nd time in one month I came to Alma Nove. The first time was with another couple who live in the area. The owner/chef came to our table to introduce himself & pose for a picture with me - AWESOME! This time around, I brought a girlfriend of mine prior to seeing a concert in the next town over. We arrived at 4:00pm and had a wonderful table on the patio over-looking the gorgeous marina & boats. It was the perfect way to spend an early evening in mid-summer. The hostess actually remembered me from my 1st visit, and made me feel like a "regular" and part of the family. She was so welcoming and sweet to me. I can't wait for another trip to this fabulous, delicious & gorgeous restaurant! If only I lived closer...!!!"

  • "I was so excited to visit Alma Nove after checking out Wahlburgers two times. I would recommend, the food was awesome! The waitress was so friendly and was able to answer any questions we had about the menu. My mom and aunt had a beverage and they said they didn't skimp on the alcohol!!!! The lobster sandwich was awesome, the meatballs with polenta...so good!"

  • "Food is outstanding! Had a grilled beef tenderloin grilled to perfection! Truffle whipped potatoes were delightful. My husband loved his wood-grilled swordfish with lobster mashed potatoes. Our waitress, MaryBeth, was pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive. The hostess/greeter was rude, however. We had a reservation and I was to meet my husband at the restaurant after he had worked in Boston. He got there first, on time for our reservation. He told the hostess I would be 10 min. late but that he would sit & get a drink…the hostess gave him a snotty response that it could be a problem because there are so many people on the waitlist…by the time I arrived he was seated and had JUST ordered his drink. He got the drink 5 min after I sat down!"

  • "We were seated quickly and our waiter was attentive, but nothing special. He did not ask us why we were at the restaurant (it was our 25th wedding anniversary) or offer to take our picture. In past visits Paul or another manager has checked in on us; not this time. The appetizer, the suppli, was fantastic. It went down hill from there. My ragu bolognese tasked like something I could make at home. My husbands dinner -- forget the name but it was pasta and sausage -- was far too rich. We splurged on dessert as it was our anniversary and my first espresso was cold -- waiter brought another hot one but first denied that it could be cold. The creme brulee was ice cold -- even the crispy top -- and tasted like cold, thick jello pudding"

  • "We had enjoyed Alma Nove in the past, but were disappointed this time around. We were inside and put near the back outside door. As the evening wore on, flies began to make their way into our food due to the regular opening/closing of the back door. We had a longer wait between our salads and our meal. The waitress was courteous and professional but not engaging. The food was just okay. While there seemed to be many people on staff, no one came by to say hello and double check on things beside the waitress. Not a great night."

  • "We went to dinner Sunday night and had a wonderful meal and ate outside where it was gorgeous and saw the sun set. My only comment is that I made a 7 reservation and got there early to put our name in for outside dining, which they tell you you cannot reserve on line for which is fine, and we were told an hour or more for outside but they could seat us right at the window so we could see outside, etc. We declined and set we would wait as there is nice seating outside on couches and chairs. In ten minutes they found us and said they moved things around and we have a seat. Just appeared to us that they wanted to seat people inside and were trying to discourage waiting for outside. Owners, not a good tactic as it could turn off people"

  • "Was disappointed in the pasta and short ribs. We were not charged for the meal and were given dessert. The other meal (swordfish) was excellent. This was my third visit and the only time I did not like the meal. I will definitely eat there again."

  • "We spent the weekend in Boston to do three things, one of which was to eat at Alma Nove. We had a hard time deciding among all the options on the menu but I'm so glad we chose the lobster panini (with french fries, don't skip the fries!). I hope to make it back again!"

  • "We love this restaurant. This visit was the first time everything was not perfect. Don't order the chopped Mediterranean salad. Cucumbers were too large and tough and tomatoes were hard and not at all ripe. Otherwise beautiful view and great food."

  • "We started with salad, which was fresh and delicious, and the dressing was good enough to dip the fresh bread in. Then our main courses, steak for two of us and gnocchi for the other two, were very good. The only complaint was that there were too many mushrooms in the gnocchi. The steaks were cooked to perfection. Dessert was also great. We will definitely go again!"
