Bright, fresh ingredients and traditional regional influences come together with other Latin American flavors in a variety of vibrant fresh dishes. We also feature the most unique tequila selections and a host of innovative Latin-influenced cocktails beyond a superior margarita.

We are open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week and are positioned perfectly for downtown corporate and social group and private dining.

Alma is operated by Fifth Group Restaurants, owners of Atlanta favorites South City Kitchen Midtown, South City Kitchen Vinings, La Tavola, Ecco, El Taco, Lure and Bold American Events.

Diner Reviews
  • "Came for margaritas and small plates that didn't disappoint--the pork tamale and sea bass cerviche were standouts. Not a fan of the downtown location, but I guess it would be a great find for tourists. You apparently have to know to pull up to closed 191 garage, press the button, and tell them you are dining at Alma Cucina to get validated parking, which contributed to the downtown sleazy feel."

  • "We made 2 reservations for 8 people each and asked for the parties to be seated nearby. Our servers were friendly, knowledgable, and sincere. Everyone had a great meal, w/ solid recommendations from our waitress. It was a great birthday!"

  • "We had a great experience at Alma Cocina. We were looking for something close by our hotel and found the Alma Cocina located just accross from the Westin. Good food, the dip and salsa Tasting platter (6 in total) is a great way to start, we continued with mains and the portion size is more than sufficient. Our waiter Ladre took gave us good recommendations, in case you are unsure of what you want to eat."

  • "The staff is well educated on all facets of the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I was upset that although I made a reservation, I had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated. Then to be seated on a stool without back support while trying to eat dinner, was very uncomfortable and I wasn't able to really enjoy my first time experience at a resturant that was highly recommended."

  • "Every time I am in Atlanta, I dine at Alma Cocina. I find the food wonderful, the staff attentive, and the ambiance comfortable. It can get packed and noisy but I always ask to be seated out in the atrium where the noise is manageable. There are great menu choices but my favorite is the sauces, salsa and guacamole sample with tortilla and plantain chips!"

  • "We tried it last night for the first time, and had a fabulous evening. Rather than having a couple of entrees, we opted for a more tapas style of grazing, which allowed for a broader range of flavors. The snapper ceviche was delightful, with a fiery corn salsa as a perfect counterpoint. Loved the Guacamole with watermelon; a seemingly odd combination that turned out a pleasant surprise. The salads were also wonderful; light and refreshing. Not your typical Mexican joint; the chef puts together some unusual combinations that work!"

  • "The service was mediocre although there was hardly anyone there for a late lunch. Some of the food received by my party was not even seasoned! The drink was decent but 95% ice. Definitely not worth the inflated price."

  • "Superb food and service outstanding. Can not wait for my next visit there. Not your typical mexican menu. Food excites your taste buds"

  • "The blood red orange cocktail drink was fantastic, service was great, and food was different from the ordinary. Loved this place and would definitely go back."

  • "We heard great reviews about this place from the hotel we were staying at and took our boss out for his birthday! The place is slightly small but overall great place to eat and drink!"

  • "I could be culinarily adventurous here! Ceviche scallops, many different kinds of guacamole, goat dishes... I was seriously happy here. They even had cocktails with jalapeno in them; one of my favorite tastes. My dining companion has simpler tastes, and she was just as happy here as I was. She had huarche and was quite pleased - and full!"

  • "This place is fantastic! I had the drink Fuego Sur, and it was the most interesting cocktail I have ever had. Spicy, sweet, salty & boozy all at the same time. Our bartender, Cassandra, was awesome, and very knowledgeable. The food was great too. We had the octopus ceviche, lamb ribs, shrimp huarache, and lobster tacos. My only complaint is that I wish there was more octopus in the ceviche. Each dish was unique and flavorful. This place is a must if you are in the downtown Atlanta area."

  • "This is a great place if you are looking for a nicer, table service restaurant downtown. It's an easy location to get to if walking or driving being located in the 191 Building. We weren't in a rush, but if you only have an hour for lunch this is still a great place. In fact they have a rapid menu with $10 entrees, which includes a non-alcoholic beverage. Our waitress was great. Very sweet and cheery and made good recommendations. We shared one of their fancier guacamoles and it was delicious with chipotle sauce and sweet corn. My co-worker and I both ordered the fried avocado tacos and they were amazing!! The avocado is barely covered in batter so it isn't heavy or greasy. I would highly recommend the dish."

  • "Our server went out of his way to ensure our experience was good - always close enough around to fill a glass, but not hovering. The food was clever, and by that I mean slight (and sometimes major -e.g., Watermelon guacamole) twists on traditional Mexican dishes. Good portion sizes and value for the money."

  • "Very dark inside restaurant. Rice and beans have no taste. Tacos don't have to be plain but they don't have to be overdressed either. Way to much going on inside of tacos."

  • "The restaurant has a gluten free menu which was full of good selections. I had the sea bass - delicious! We went for lunch and sat out in a section of the atrium (of the 191 building) which is beautiful. The restaurant had a good vibe to it. I will definitely go back."

  • "This is not your typical Mexican fare. Very creative menu items. We went twice within three days. Notables include the Tinga Tostadas appetizer, the guacamole & sauces appetizer w/regular chips and plantain chips, and the Elotes which is THE best grilled corn you'll ever taste."

  • "Chicken Mole was really dry.. It felt like it was sitting out for a while and they decided to use it for my meal and just pour Mole sauce all over it.. The chicken was hard to eat and the Mole sauce did not have enough flavor. How do you mess up chicken, I mean come on.. Its chicken.. There are plenty of other places that easily I would suggest.. The Service however was ON POINT.. Our server was always paying attention to what we needed.. I am surprized at how good the food, ambience, and location where while the food was horrible.."

  • "The food was seriously good, and it had an uncommon selection for a vegetarian. So many options! Our server (Alexander) was five star. Couldn't have been nicer, more knowledgeable, or more attentive. It's seriously loud in there, though. Kind of hard to have a conversation."

  • "We have been here before and dozens of times to other 5th Restaurant Group restaurants. The waiter was barely adequate - he did not try to explain anything on the menu, he did not know Alma Cocina has a house tequila, he brought out our entrees while we were still eating appetizers and asked if he could clear the appetizers to make room for the entrees. There are too many other good (non national chain) restaurants in downtown Atlanta to want to go back to Alma Cocina."

  • "The guacamole was amazingly delicious! They have a variety of interesting menu options, everything looked good. I went with the mahi tacos and I would highly recommend them. The margaritas are also delicious! Love this place!"

  • "I absolutely loved Alma Cocina. I came for my birthday and was treated incredibly well by Jamal, our waiter, and the manager that night. The drinks, salsa and guacamole sampler, tortilla soup, and rest of the vegetarian options were fantastic. I would definitely go back--this place comes highly recommended. "

  • "We loved our experience at Alma Cocina. There were 4 in our party, two with dietary restrictions. They were able to accommodate all that we needed and were glad to do it. Love that they have a gluten free menu with plenty of options on it. Delish and would definitely go back."

  • "Wonderful to have a restaurant that isn't a chain around the hotels in downtown. Loved the drinks, the fresh juices make all the difference! The food was great! The plantain chips were actually my favorite...regular chips just won't do anymore. The portions are huge. Our waitress kindly wrapped up our lobster and avocado tacos which we ended up giving to a man further up the street. The drinks, food and staff are all amazing. "

  • "Mexican food with modern twists. chicken mole had a nice sweet, smokey flavor but maybe had too much sauce. great premium cocktails. salsa and avocado sampler provided fresh ingredients in unique variety of flavors. little dark in the dining room."

  • "Everything we had was delicious and our server Ryan was great too. I will be back very soon to have some more braised beef cheek with incredible ramp chimichuri and chicken mole! "

  • "Coming from a foodie who tries one to two new restaurants every week, I felt Alma Covina was over priced and the wait staff was rude. The food wasn't great, but the cocktails were delicious though."

  • "From our first visit at the opening, to our most recent visit, Alma Cocina continues to hit the mark delivering fabulous and creative food options along with exceptional cocktails. The bar program not only offers phenomenal tequila and mezcal, but the cocktails are unique, balanced, sometimes surprising and always applauded. As with all Fifth Group restaurants, the service is remarkable. One of the many things I appreciate about Alma Cocina is that you never feel like you are in a downtown restaurant surrounded by an out-of-town demographic. AC is one of the few downtown restaurants that feels like home, and that is completely due to the efforts of the staff. Congrats!"

  • "Disappointed with food presentation, it was Luke warm. The food was so eccentric that none of the dishes really had a unique defined taste. The parking is remote and difficult to find."

  • "Had dinner at Alma Cocina on 5/9/2014. Margarita was tasteless, watered down, with salt only on 1/3rd of the rim of the glass (a small glass). The food came out cold and tasteless. Parking was difficult due to restaurant's location. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Take your money and play the lottery unstead."

  • "This was our first visit and it was disconcerting to be out of menu items at lunch including one of only two specialty beverages and an entree I'd wanted to try. While lunch was busy, it wasn't busy enough to justify the outages. The reason given was they hadn't recovered from Cinco de Mayo, that was Monday, this was Wednesday. Being a former Purchasing Agent in hospitality, I know how quickly you can restock, no excuses. We may go back, we may not. You have one chance to make a great first impression, this was luke warm. "

  • "We arrived for lunch and it was somewhat busy; the food seemed to take a while, but nothing unreasonable. The manager ended up giving us our entire meal for free in order to compensate for the long wait. We did not expect this level of service and were very pleased! "

  • "Our group of four tried a little of everything - the guac and salsa sampler, sea bass ceviche, lump crab tostada, lobster tacos, and carnitas tacos, plus naranjarita (blood orange) margaritas. It was all delicious. The atmosphere was lively, but still upscale, and the service (Laura) was incredible. We were celebrating a birthday and were comped a coconut tres leche. It had a little too much passion fruit reduction and the coconut could have been toasted, but otherwise was melt-in-your mouth delightful. We will return."

  • "I have a great experience every time I go to Alma. The quality of the food and service greatly surpasses any other restaurant downtown. I really enjoy dining "tapas style" while here- they have enough great smaller plates and ceviches and sides that it's easy to do so. The snapper ceviche is my favorite- just the perfect combo of flavors. The new beef cheek dish with a crispy poached egg is also wonderful! Reminded me of something I'd have in Spain. Cocktail menu is one of the best in the entire metro Atlanta area in my opinion. Try one of their mezcal cocktails if you like smoky things- the Dios Mio is my favorite!"
