We celebrated my husband's birthday with dinner at Allure. Overall I thought the food was disappointing and the ambience was not as luxurious as one might hope for at this price point. Tables for two were very small and the restaurant was very cold, cold enough that we kept our jackets on for the whole meal. Two out of three of our hot bites (appetizers) were overly salty or spicy, as was my entree. My husband's filet was very undercooked. Many better choices available in the Gaslamp area; we will not return.

We really enjoyed our meal. We shared a few small plates and thought them wonderful. We had beef carpaccio, savory bread pudding, watermelon carpaccio, and pork belly. All fresh and well made. We'll be back to try an entree next time.

Party of 5 celebrating a birthday. Everybody ordered a different main course and they all were excellent - especially the Steelhead and the Chicken. I normally do not order chicken but this is one of the few places I make an exception. The price points were very reasonable for the quality of the food with every plate having lots of flavor layers.

See if you can secure the upstairs area. Bree the server for our group, was an Outstanding addition to this restaurant. The Chef came by after dinner to meet with us. While dinner was unfolding there was interaction between members of the dinning group and the Chef via Bree

Picked this new spot for a pre Paul McCartney dinner with friends. Started at the miniscule bar and enjoyed the inventive cocktail menu but with one bar tender killing herself to keep up it took an inordinate amount of time for our drinks. This should have tipped us off. We sat outside at one of their sidewalk tables and the place started to fill up. Interesting menu but again. Took such a very long time for each course to show up. The waiter was attentive and apologetic. Finally, the rest room (ladies) was gorgeous and immaculate but since it was a one seat / private potty there was always a line waiting to get in. I think unless we have a slow week night in the Gas Lamp there is no reason we would consider coming back.

Food was great, service was lacking. Newer restaurant that has potential but was overwhelmed by a full house. We barely made the start of the Paul McCartney concert. I hope they iron things out because the potential is there. Money was left on the table, we would have had at least one more cocktail if our glasses weren't left empty for long stretches of time. And our last side dish came out after we were done with our entree's.

Allure is growing up. Family owned and very welcoming..it is a work in progress. Still working on minor glitches, but they are dedicated to an excellent dining experience. Did everything go flawlessly..no. We were there for my wife's birthday..will we go back..YES! We are looking forward to watch it evolve in the coming months. It has all the makings of a great San Diego destination restaurant. To the chef and staff...good luck and thank you! See you again soon!

We used a Groupon at this restaurant for our first visit there. My husband and I shared the caprese salad which was delicious and had a beautiful presentation. My husband chose the sauteed salmon and I ordered sauteed fresh cod. Both pieces of fish were perfectly cooked, juicy and flaky, and garnished very imaginatively. We shared a cheesecake parfait for dessert. The wines are pricey (the restaurant is in the Gaslamp), but the house chardonnay was reasonable and very acceptable. A great place to eat before the theater at Horton Plaza!

We ran across Allure when we had tickets to the Theatre and wanted to grab a bite beforehand. Little did we know that dinner would become the highlight of a very nice evening. We tried Allure based on positive reviews on Yelp and we were very pleased with our choice. There are a gazillion restaurants in the Gaslamp District, but Allure is unique because it offers a quiet, classy and intimate dining experience. The food is fresh, delicious and the menu changes seasonally. Alexander, our waiter, gave us just the right amount of attention and was willing to give us menu suggestions. We would definitely go back.

Went to Allure based on Open Table reviews. It was very quiet with only a few tables occupied. I thought that was a bad sign, and I was wrong. It is new, and people need to go there. They have been open only a few months. The Chef has done a fabulous job building a very interesting menu. There were 5 people in my group. We all work in the restaurant industry and enjoy finding new places. Everyone loved it!!!We had 6 different apps and 4 different entrees. There was not a single bad thing about any item. On apps, the Bone Marrow, Watermelon Carpaccio, Calamari, and Pork Belly were the favorites. For entress, 2 people had the Steelhead and loved it. The Short Rib and the Chicken were also fabulous! Go there, often!!!
