Yelp didn't let us down. It was a lovely experience. Food and presentation were outstanding. We ate outside but inside dining was a beautiful setting. A loud bachelorette party led us to stay outside.

Came here Friday night with wife and another couple. The food and wine are excellent, Had the raw oysters, pork belly, calamari, kale salad, ceasar's salad, lamb shank and pork ribs. The pork, lamb and calamari have been some of the best I've had. The plates were excellent and the service by our waitress Brie was also phenomenal. Highly recommended for foodies.

We ran across Allure when we had tickets to the Theatre and wanted to grab a bite beforehand. Little did we know that dinner would become the highlight of a very nice evening. Oh, the play was good, but dinner was superb. Allure's young chef mixes flavors like a maestro -- superbly complimenting every dish. And the staff was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.

made my OpenTable reservation after i wandered in for happy hour. what a find! pork belly was excellent, filet amazing (and @ only $30 a really terrific bargain), and grilled carrot cake sundae was the perfect way to end a great dining experience. service was very attentive. will definitely return on my next trip to san diego.

The food is great but they only had one chef working the night we went. One person can only do so much and we waited quite a bit for some of the items to arrive even thought we ordered everything at the same. Might have just been an off night.

We tried Allure based on positive reviews on Yelp and we were very pleased with our choice. There are a gazillion restaurants in the Gaslamp District, but Allure is unique because it offers a quiet, classy and intimate dining experience. The food is fresh, delicious and the menu changes seasonally. Alexander, our waiter, gave us just the right amount of attention and was willing to give us menu suggestions. We would definitely go back.

Went to Allure based on Open Table reviews. It was very quiet with only a few tables occupied. I thought that was a bad sign, and I was wrong. It is new, and people need to go there. They have been open only a few months. The Chef has done a fabulous job building a very interesting menu. There were 5 people in my group. We all work in the restaurant industry and enjoy finding new places. Everyone loved it!!!We had 6 different apps and 4 different entrees. There was not a single bad thing about any item. On apps, the Bone Marrow, Watermelon Carpaccio, Calamari, and Pork Belly were the favorites. For entress, 2 people had the Steelhead and loved it. The Short Rib and the Chicken were also fabulous! Go there, often!!!

We dined here on suggestion of Open Table's review as we were visiting San Diego. The restaurant was not busy as there was only one other couple dining at that time. The server was very personable and friendly, as was the general manager. We appreciated that the chef cam out from the kitchen to visit with us. Although the cuisine was called American, each dish was unique, with different and exotic ingredients, displayed in such a manner that you might want to photograph your dish before partaking. Food was delicious.

Unfortunately, our experience was not as good as other OpenTable diners. The chef has a fine pedigree, and the food was tasty. However, service was lacking. They had a large party and the kitchen had trouble getting other diners' food out in a timely fashion. At first they promised food was coming "soon" but eventually they just stopped talking to us until each course came. Inside is loud with pulsating music. Patio is more pleasant, and good for peoplewatching. While the food was good (the hostess is nice, and the bathrooms are lovely), that was not enough to make us want to return, given all the great places in SD with great food and service. I hope it was an off-night, but no apologies or compensation were offered.

Allure was recommended to us by Josh, the barman at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown, who sang high praises of the chef there. After making a reso, we finished out drinks and walked the few blocks to Allure where we were greeted warmly by the hostess, who gave us the option of sitting either inside our outside. Being from Michigan, we were eager to soak up the beautiful SoCal weather, so we sat outside and had the whole patio to ourselves. Our server, Jinju (sp.?) was knowledgeable, professional, attentive, and friendly, and she even went above and beyond and gave a list of ideas for places to go in San Diego. The food was all good, and the rosemary lamb shank was one of the best dishes I've ever had, no hyperbole. Thanks Allure staff!

This restaurant offers a very good atmosphere, pretty intimate if you want. The food we ordered was delicious, like everybody stated the tuna tartar is a delight. I went then for the white fish in entrée, and also amazing, perfectly cooked and tasty sauce. The quinoa entrée was also full of flavors, but the best was the chocolate cake at the end..greatly recommend it!

We went to this restaurant based on it's menu and proximity to the Balboa Theatre. It is a nice, small restaurant that has excellent food. They were able to accomodate me as a vegan, and the other 3 people ordered from the regular menu. The chef came out to say hello which was very nice. I recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

We were looking for something new in the Gas Lamp. I believe Allure is only a month old. I knew we were taking a risk, but it was well worth it. The service and food were awesome. Our server, Aaron, was also a foodie and seemed to enjoy our appreciation of the food. We ordered a little bit of everything and it was all excellent. In particular, the lamb shank (fell off the bone), the steelhead, the pork belly (OMG), creamy polenta and the creamed corn (delectable), etc. Also, two drinks that were outstanding: The Allure and San Diego Sun. Will definitely go back again.

They were very accommodating when we called to say we were running late for our reservation, and from start to finish service was outstanding. Our server was knowledgeable about the dishes and made great recommendations. We shared several small plates--the tuna tartare was a favorite, and we loved the grilled carrot cake dessert. Price point was pretty much right what we expected. I was told there is a cool lounge area upstairs, which I'll have to check out next time. Highly recommended!

Took an out of town visitor to dinner and every aspect was great. Service was personable and engaged (thanks Bree). She made excellent recommendations. Hot and cold appetizers were delicious (I particularly enjoyed the fried oysters), and my wife particularly recommended the kale salad. The white fish is flown in fresh from Michigan / Lake Superior and was prepared simply and deliciously (though is served without accompaniments, so do order either the asparagus or fingerling potatoes).

After going to the Padres game for Mother's Day we headed over for our dinner reso and the restaurant was very quiet. We were the only table for quite awhile. We started with the oysters that did not have a clean flavor but the condiments with the oysters was excellent. My salmon was cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes were too runny. Overall, we had a good dinner.

We went to check out a new place downtown SD vs going to our usual places, and we were so glad we did! We noted the chef worked at some other reputable SD restaurants so our expectations were set high! And the food DELIVERED!! We ordered the tuna tartar...amazing! It had a Mexican twist to it with a little bit of heat and lime juice to bright the dish, very refreshing. For our entrees we had the short ribs and lamb shank. I make both at home and I have prob the most amazing recipe for both...both of these were just as good as mine!! The portions are HUGE, you will not leave hungry! I ended up taking 1/2 of the short ribs home. And also...order the truffle fries..WOW! Can't wait to go back and enjoy some more fantastic food!

Food was great. Five of us in the party and all of us happy with our appetizers and entrees. As good as any restaurant in the Gaslamp, and a better option than the tired steakhouses that seem to dominate fine dining in the area. It's a good alternative to driving to La Jolla or del Mar where most of the interesting restaurants seem to be in the area. Friendly and attentive service - Chef Michelle came by and asked how everything was! Will definitely return for the short rib entree and the pork belly appetizer.
