Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Telluride on our honeymoon, and had dinner here, our first night. WE loved it so much, we came back again 3 nights later! The food was great. The moscow mules were yummy as well. Our service was perfect. They brought us dessert and champagne on the house the first night! Truffle Fries were good :) Can't wait for the next visit!"

  • "Allfred's truly is all that we read about it earlier. It is a place for special occasions especially if you get to sit at the windows and look down over the town. It is worth eating at 5:30"

  • "Want to first compliment Open Table for having relationships with some of the best proprietors and venues and for delivering their services. The ability to provide details on special needs in advance is why we utilize the service so much due to Spouse's severe food allergies. Allred's was able to accommodate a gluten and melon allergy and ensured our special occasion was worry-free. The scenery, ambience, and food selection were fantastic. The quality of the food was also top notch. We had our young kids with us but that didn't prevent Allred's from seating us in the picture window to celebrate a birthday. If you're in Telluride, try Allred's for the experience and we're sure you'll return for the food."

  • "The views are spectacular, the ambience and menu selection is fantastic. We always make it a point to have dinner at Allreds when we are in town and definitely meet for apres ski at least once or twice as well."

  • "Living in Telluride for about 18 months now, I'd long intended to go to Allred's. The views were supposed to be amazing. My mistake may have been to go at night: there were no views, and the harsh overhead lights in a dining hall atmosphere ruined any ambience. There was nothing romantic or cozy or otherwise aesthetically pleasing about the lighting, which was more reminiscent of a cafeteria than an expensive restaurant."

  • "Outstanding food and service and the best view you will find."

  • "Menu offered breadth... Something for everyone. All meals were excellent... Our group ordered the elk, salmon, veal, and lamb chops. Would return readily. Outstanding wine list with terrific navigation help from Ashley."

  • "The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a panoramic view of the San Juan Mountains that is unparalleled. Staff is friendly, food is delicious - I had elk medallions with mashed sweet potatoes - there is a nice of choice of specialty cocktails, wines and local beers. It was a great way to end a perfect ski week in Telluride!"

  • "I have to say , service , food , were all good ...not memorable . Nothing was wrong ....... Rack of Lamb was ok , but not special . maybe I have heard such good about this restaurant , it was hard to live up to ."

  • "We have been coming here yearly for 15 years. Food is consistantly excellent! Ambience is romantic, views are amazing. Mario, General Manager, always greets us with a smile at the door and checks on us during our meal, as he does with everyone. He is a major improvement to the Restaurant. Servers were friendly and fast. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Beautiful place with spectacular views. I would say it's worth it for the views alone. However, the (expensive) food was average at best. The hummus appetizer was tasteless, the elk loin was overdone and a bit dry (unacceptable for a $42 item) and the house made sorbet was nothing special (the coconut was in fact bitter and inedible). Service was also just fair. In fact, staff kept kicking my chair in the tight space we had, and no one apologized or offered to move our table a bit. We did that ourselves. This was a one-time place for me. I wouldn't return, except perhaps to the bar."

  • "We love this restaurant and will likely go every time we visit Telluride as it is such a special experience all the way around. That said, the wine list is way overpriced. We could not find a decent Cab for less than $160 a bottle. We opted for a Syrah as we were able to find a bottle that was a (relative) value."

  • "We go to Allred's almost every time we visit Telluride. This visit was the first time we visited before sundown, because of the busy spring break scheduling, the view looking over the town of Telluride was gorgeous! The food just keeps getting better and the cocktails from the bar were generous and very tasty."

  • "Allreds provided an excellent venue for a romantic birthday dinner for me and my husband. The salmon dish was perfectly prepared with a delicate mix if spinach and baby corn in broth as a bed. My husbands steak was divine served with mashed potatoes and shredded Brussels sprouts. The creme brûlée was shared by us even tho we both wanted to devour the whole thing! The wine list is excellent but over priced. That would be my only complaint. It prevented us from sharing a bottle. I believe the food, while pricey is a good value. Our server was excellent."

  • "Usually a "must-do" on the restaurant list when I visit Telluride, this was the first disappointing experience I've ever had there. It's still unclear what caused it, but the service was terrible. Perhaps they were short-staffed, which happens in all service industries, but this was really over the top. What could have made this better was any form of apology or at least acknowledgement of the extremely slow service, which never came from any of the 3-4 employees we interacted directly with over the course of the experience. In any neighborhood restaurant, we would've gotten a dessert or something "comp'd" for such service. Allred's may have lost a long-term client on this trip."

  • "The highlights for us besides the view were the crab cakes, the black cod and the elk. The service was ok but not great. The hostess needs to smile! We noticed that there was slipper service but only at the end of dinner when we were getting our coats. We were not informed before dinner. Not sure how that works there but it would have been great! The view is one of the best in the world!!! Especially as the sun goes down and the lights of telluride come alive. Piano player was great. We will come back."

  • "Allred's is a perennial favorite and the food and ambience are outstanding. We were a little surprised at the pacing of the meal feeling rather rushed when we were served our entire meal in less than an hour."

  • "Located at the top of the gondola in-between Telluride and the Mountain Village. Just hop off the gondola at the first stop and you're there. Absolutely stunning views!! "Woww!!" was all we could say. Go for an apres ski cocktail. There's a cozy fireplace in the bar with 2 couches for a small group. All tables have a great view but of course the window seats are the best. Go early, it fills up fast. The restaurant is top notch also with stellar service and 5 star food. Be ready for the 5 star price. Worth every penny in our estimation, even though we were getting a bit tired of the She-She food in Telluride."

  • "Good food and wine list. Best during daytime for spectacular view All in our party liked their food, except me: Veal, it was overcooked and hard. I was very surprised they did not ask, that The food was untouched. They did not care! Waiters need to be more courteous!"

  • "Wish we'd arrived before sunset to see the mountains turn color from the giant windows. Loved the truffle fries. Crab cake was super fresh and came with a delightful avocado purée. My partners veal was a bit tough but had good flavor. Great wine list. Service very good."

  • "Pork entre was maybe the best I've ever had. Salad and appetizer good not great. Service adequate. Wine steward was excellent and friendly. The hostess was excellent and very friendly as well. You're paying for the view, which is incredible."

  • "Enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. Hard to find something "light" on the menu. Settled for 2 appetizers and a salad for dinner."

  • "My wife and I eat at Allred's every time we are in Telluride, normally rating our Allred's experiences between 4-5 stars--not this time. First, my wife's main course, supposed to be juicy and succulent miso black cod, turned out to be very dry and flavorless halibut that, according the manager, one of their new cooks had mistakenly substituted for the cod. They were quick to prepare another main course for my wife but it took awhile to arrive and our otherwise smooth dinner was disrupted. Second, the wine list prices are now officially ridiculous, with no Cabernet or Syrah under $100 (median price ~$200-300); as we live in America and Allred's is not a three Michelin star restaurant, I would expect a number of good choices between $40-100."

  • "We went here to celebrate our 37th anniversary. The gondola ride up from the town of Telluride at night was beautiful. We didn't expect the food to be great but we were pleasantly surprised. First, the drinks. A good size, and NOT watered down. Then, we ordered a few appetizers both of which were amazing (the potato croutons and the red pepper hummos). The hummos was served with a wonderful flat bread and veggies. Then, we split a main course (we were already full!). We had the roast chicken. It was delicious. They brought us a dessert on the house for our anniversary which was very nice. Our only complaint was that they charged us $6 to split a drink and $6 to split the entree. Other than that, we loved it and would definitely go back."

  • "I treated my boyfriend to a dinner for his birthday at this wonderful restaurant. We had just gotten into town for a week of skiing. I called ahead and the folks who answered the phone were very helpful in helping me not only find the perfect table but the best time to obtain the best view (this place is way up in the mountains of Telluride and has an amazing, gorgeous view.) We really enjoyed sitting in this wonderful restaurant but the food was amazing, delicious, and so special, as well as having wonderful wine. We wiill definitely back and my recommendation is GO!!"

  • "We were a table of six at Allred's celebrating our son's 30th birthday. It took one hour to get our salads and they even forgot a salad. The restaurant was 30% full! No reason for such slow service. We will not be going back anytime soon! Very disappointed with service and high cost of our dinners!"

  • "Courses were brought out as soon as cocktails were delivered and to make matters worse, they were not even in proper order. You would think the kitchen staff and servers would have a modicum of training in proper dining service. We did not find this to be the case. Deviled eggs which were supposed to be truffled simply had truffle oil over some arugula. The lobster bisque arrived lukewarm. Short rib with pasta was good, but steak is done better at Longhorns. The piano playing was too loud for the crowd, and the pianist was dressed like he was just off the slopes. My advice: for an elegant meal avoid Allreds and head into Telluride. If all you care for is a view, then Allreds is for you as that is all they know how to provide."

  • "We arrived at a 6:30 reservation with a request for a window table (if available). They were prompt in seeing Open Table reservation, and seated us at a window table promptly. Our concierge at Mountain Village recommended the mussels in wine. The mussels were large and cooked correctly, but had very little flavor, broth the broth helped. Not the unbelievable steamed in wine sauce the concierge recommended. I would not order them again, unless I just wanted plain mussels. We wanted a smaller diner so I ordered the crab cake and crab leg, which is really an appetizer. The crab cake was very good, but the small crab leg (sliced in 1/2) had no flavor. My wife's fried eggplant appetizer was also bland, therefore not that great."

  • "The mushroom soup & lobster bisque were excellent as well as the pork chops. Couldn't ask for better service & we were seated by the window so we got a wonderful view of Telluride lights below. It was a top notch evening dinner."
