A word from Allium
Allium is marked by a more approachable environment, featuring farm-to-table, regional American cuisine. Allium continues to uphold the Hotel’s trademark of exemplary, engaging service in a new relaxed atmosphere, making it the ultimate Chicago gathering place.

Allium’s seasonal menu focuses on sustainable ingredients. Vegetables drive the ever-evolving menu, sourced both from local farmers and the Hotel’s own rooftop garden. Meats, one of the Midwest’s greatest culinary staples, are well represented, from dry aged filet chop to the menu’s From the Meat Locker section, featuring a selection of premium steaks and chops from Midwestern ranchers. Diner Reviews
  • "I arranged a birthday lunch for a good friend -- there were 5 of us -- at Allium on the recommendation of a friend. We were delighted with all aspects of the restaurant with the exception of it being somewhat noisy due to the hard surfaces. The restaurant, without being asked, prepared a special dessert for the "birthday girl", and the food was elegantly presented and delicious."

  • "Picked up a friend from the airport. Stopped by there for a post flight bite. Nicole was awesome!!! She was able to assess our needs, guide us through the menu, and selected for us the perfect combinations. She is truly a gem!!!"

  • "I'm not a fan of hotel brunches, and especially not brunch buffets. If I'm going to spend the money, I want to be served at the table. And hotel restaurants tend to be overpriced in any event. So I was skeptical when my wife insisted on taking our visiting in-laws here for brunch. It turned out to be a great idea - though pricey, the food was fantastic, the shared small plates were served at the table (no buffet!), and I didn't mind the one buffet trip for the desserts. Worth the high price."

  • "I had apparently neglected to add I wanted a window table when I booked the reservation. They kindly have us a window table anyway."

  • "The food and service were incredible. I had the soup and salad and deviled eggs. Amazing! It wad enough food. Very tasty. I will be back for more when I am in town."

  • "We arrived early for our reservation, and so we asked to be seated at the bar, where we each ordered the bacon hard-boiled egg appetizer, which was delicious. When our table was ready, we were seated in the ornate dining room. My husband thought the decor was a bit over the top, but we both loved the food. I had the sliders with horseradish sauce--they were amazing!"

  • "We had a surprisingly bad server who seemed to disappear constantly and kept us waiting. The food was very mediocre."

  • "My friend and I enjoyed some fabulous spa treatments and then decided to have lunch at the Four Seasons Restaurant, Allium. It was very good. The restaurant décor is very welcoming and there are different parts of the restaurant that have different dining feels to it. That was very nice. We had the brussel sprouts and cauliflower gratin and then ordered their take on the Chicago dog, made all in house. The veggies were amazing. The hot dogs were good, I'm not a huge dog fan, but it was pretty good. I didn't partake in the fries that accompanied the dog, but my friend said they were awesome! Nice Lunch experience!"

  • "We had a lovely time, window seat, unbelievable food. Took lots home since it was much for 2 people."

  • "We had great food and impeccable service. Highly recommend it"

  • "Every dish had a surprising twist that made it interesting and delicious (e.g. grapefruit in the risotto). It was also more affordable than we expected. Try the brussel sprouts. We would give 5 stars, but our water glasses sat empty far too long."

  • "We had birthday dinner for our au pair here with 2 small children (8 and 5 years). The service was stellar and thoug,h this is not a "kid friendly" place, they were more than accommodating of our family - who had been chastened in advance of the evening. Food was lovely, including an interesting and varied wine list. I can't speak highly enough of the ambiance in that tables were far enough apart that it was impossible to hear chatter from others. This was our first time here but it's now on our short list - we'll be regulars here."

  • "I went in a group (6--we reserved for 7, but they graciously accommodated the change with no fuss). The hotel's oppressive luxury turns into quirky, deliberately campy luxury when you enter Allium (don't feed the ducks!) The tables are set out spaciously, so you don't feel crowded by other diners, & our wait staff was friendly with a great sense of humor - though occasionally a bit difficult to flag down. Most important, food: not a place that shoots for haute farm-to-table and misses, but rather the humorous modern takes on home classics they advertise. Soft pretzel bites with foie gras - medjool date mustard were lovely, as were venison sausage and candied walnut risotto. Subtle, modern without pretentiousness, and very well executed. Go!"

  • "Limited menu and pricey. Hot dog is the best. Parker house rolls were nothing special. Great sorbet. Pricey tea"

  • "Always an enjoyable experience and the staff is noteworth in their attention to detail. Menu still plays to the "safe" side . Four Seasons changed most of the staff heere and in the bar this past year. Kevin Hickey is very much missed as head chef as are Jason and Bob who were bartenders. The hotel may have saved a few pennies by reducing seniority but neighborhood regulars and regular guests at the hotel remain concerned. Menu needs more frequent updating and some innovation."

  • "Allium is a true find, that is, if you can find it. Expansive and innovative menu, great wine and cocktail list and fantastic ambience and people watching. The seating is very comfortable, the rooms are beautiful, the food is delicious, the service is attentive, friendly and helpful. You will not ever be rushed to order or to leave...a huge plus if you just want to linger and enjoy. I will return, always."

  • "Everything was great! Service, food, price, view, and everything on the menu was delicious. But very upscale ambience so not the most relaxing. Either way, great date night and highly recommend."

  • "People don't give this place enough credit. It's casual, yet classy, energetic, yet cozy. The food, which is reasonably priced, as well as the service, is outstanding."

  • "Our server was very friendly and informative. Even the busboy was very pleasant. It is the type of menu you will want to stick to the small plates and share. There are a lot of good tastes on the menu."

  • "Restaurant confirmed my reservation in advance. We went over the occasion. I gave them the name to put on the dessert, and where I wanted to sit. We waited for over 20 minutes for our reservation. They told me the table that I wanted had guests that came late. So, that tied up that table, overlooking Michigan Ave. They sat us one table from the back of the restaurant. The service was very poor. I thought the server was ignoring us. And the icing on the cake.... They did not put my daughters name on the plate , when he brought out the dessert for her. The manager came over to me, and said the waiter dropped the ball! Not Four Season like service."

  • "I love this place. It used to be a very fancy restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel. They've changed it completely and it is now a much more affordable and inviting place. Ambience is great for groups or couples. Two very different spaces - one very clubby the other airy with windows looking over Michigan Ave. The Hanging Cheese Flatbread is a must have, if for no other reason than the presentation. Brick chicken is delicious. It was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. My friend had the paparadelle and liked that a lot. A lot of good choices. Variety of small to large plates. Great wine list."

  • "Allium is always a delicious treat. We went with a group of six (including one 12 and one 18 year old) and everyone enjoyed themselves. The 12 year old was especially impressed by the banana milk shake made especially for her and the lipstick trash can in the women's bathroom. Chicken was the most popular entree at our table but I wasn't as hungry and was satisfied with my beef jerky and deviled egg. I also highly recommend their Purple Haze martini. Everything is fabulous from the ambiance to the service to the food to the drinks. It's fancy without being pretentious. We love it."

  • "The food and service were fantastic at quite a reasonable price for such high quality. Love the big chairs and the fireplace. Planning on going back."

  • "Great potential but a real shame they lost Kevin Hickey as Head Chef and then all the senior servers also left. Word is that management want to lower costs with less senior workers. It shows ! Just not the same place any more. Decor nice but they seldom change the menu in any meaningful way which discourages those of us who live in the building or nearby from going very often."

  • "Allium hinestly surprised me. I had no ifea whag to expect, but my goodness wasbi impressed. Service was quick and very friendly and welcoming. We got the gnocchi with veal and the proscuitto flatbread and they were absolutely heavenly. Then we got three of their ice creams (all of which were amazingly smooth, and of course the butterscotch milkshake. The milkshake. It is THE milkshake. Its amazing. You will love it. It is so rich."

  • "Disappointing. Food was greasy, leaving one queasy. And we ordered vegetables! Carrots were soaking in butter, brussels sprouts were deep fried so one could feel oil squeezing out of the pieces as one chewed on them, the cauliflower was undercooked and drowning in greasy cheese. The cauliflower itself should have been tender and roasted with caramelized bits under the cheese and the cheese should have been creamy with crispy bits where it had bubbled under the grill. The dessert milkshakes were gritty with unblended chocolate. The ambience could be improved by making the place a cozy lounge with lounge seating everywhere and access to the fireplace improved by removing the sofa that restricted the fireplace to the one couple seated there."

  • "The seats are comfortable and the tables are at reasonable distance from each other. The prices are good for a restaurant in Four Seasons Hotel except that they are too salty. The service is very good."

  • "Great menu with an elegant twist on American comfort classics. Our entrees were great, but I think our favorite dish were the truffle grits. They were outstanding! Beautiful setting inside the Four Seasons Hotel, and if you're lucky you might get a seat by the window overlooking Michigan Ave!"

  • "Read all about the hot dog. Restaurant Week. The hot dog is included. First, had the grits. Very tasty, but grits are a side, not a starter in a cup like soup. Second, hot dog. Sofy, very soft. Never thought I'd miss a casing. The little squeeze bottles with ketchup, mustard and relish were cute. The fries were unremarkable Third, a delicious milk shake too thick to get through a straw served without a spoon. Gorgeous room. Clever idea to spread a restaurant throughout a beautiful former lounge. REALLY miss Sunday brunch in the old Seasons"

  • "Another gem of a restaurant that would have never been on our radar but for restaurant week. We scoped out menus and thought this one looked fun so made a reservation. Unbeknownst to us, it was on the 7th floor of the Four Seasons. It is a lovely cozy venue with living room style chairs and a fireplace. And that was only the beginning of its appeal. The menu was fun with several appetizer offerings at $5. The Waygu beef jerky is NOT to be missed. The 3 course special was quirky and playful, starting with a kale/sweet potato salad and truffle grits-both yummy. Must mention the dessert, the miso shake! A wonderful concoction tasting of salted caramel heaven. That alone will be calling us to return! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable."

  • "What a gem! Their homemade Chicago hot dog is well worth the trip to eat at Allium. The rest of the food was equally as great, dessert included. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. Great place to try out!"

  • "We visited Allium for my friends birthday as we were spending the day at the spa at the 4 seasons. We had a great lunch and the service was top-notch. We asked for recommendations and our server did not dissapoint. I noted that it was my friend's birthday in our open table reservation and they brought out a birthday dessert with out me even asking! We sat near the windows and overlooked a cold chicago day. If you can, spend the day at the spa as well. Heavenly!"

  • "we visited for Restaurant Week and were so pleased that a past favorite was still excellent. The food was well described, presented and executed. The wait staff were exceedingly professional. We visited for Sunday lunch and had spent the morning walking through the snowy neighborhoods. The fact that we had on hiking boots, jeans and horrible cases of hat hair did not cause concern. It was a very pleasant lunch with friends where we knew we were in good hands."

  • "I had the opportunity to eta at Allium 2 nights in a row this past weekend. I was made to feel so welcome. As a woman traveling alone, it was a wonderful experience. The food was wonderful & the bourbon selection suggested by the waiter perfect. Say hello to Steve Minor, the Assistant Manager. Great service!"
