A word from Alison Eighteen
Inspired by the classic brasseries of Paris, Alison Eighteen is warm & inviting: a grand bar & dining space that is simultaneously contemporary & classic with period-inspired details. Banquettes of eggplant leather, with cherry red buttons, provide romantic corners & a touch of whimsy.
The menu, on which Entrees from the rotisserie have pride of place, is influenced by farms & producers who take care with their growing, fishing, raising & production, offers soul-satisfying dishes without pretense = refined simplicity.
Classically-crafted, yet inspired cocktails, a well curated wine list & Alison’s signature hospitality compliment & reflect the menu & ambience.

Striped bass slightly underdone (which is better than overdone.) Chicken was flavorful and OK. Fluke appetizer was OK. Sunchoke salad was OK. Booths near the bar were nice. Service was OK. Many better places for the money. I liked Alison on Dominick much better.

We went to Allison eighteen for dinner and found it to be just ok. The reasons it is not better is because of understaffing for service and a somewhat limited and pretentious menu. The space is very nice and has the potential to be a great restaurant.

We really enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu at the restaurant. We had the best scallops we'd ever eaten as well as other great food. The atmosphere is very refined, very tasteful. The service was superb. The wine list was well chosen with a very fair price range which is hard to find these days. Can't wait to return. B &F Brewer

The reason to go to Alison Eighteen is to experience Chef Spruance's food. Everything we tasted showed her culinary background from WD-50 and Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The ingredients were remarkable and the execution inventive and delicious. This is a Chef to follow.

Food was delicious, service was odd. Waitress kept coming back to our table our order and no one was in the restaurant yet! Except one table which had Michele Lee and Sandra Bernhardt! Came back 3 times for our dinner order. We told her we were in no rush, but apparently she was! Dinner and appetizers were delicious, desserts had a lot to be desired. Too deconstructed for my taste! Overall I would go back, wine was good, bar area was nice, nice setting.

Our group of six had a perfect table tucked away on one side where we could visit without needing to yell over other bar or restaurant noise. While service was fairly prompt and unobtrusive, drink orders got confused and both beers selected were no longer available. The food had mixed reviews, not bad, but not outstanding in the NY dining scene. A good choice when conversation is the most important goal.

I picked Alison Eighteen for a surprise "date" with my wife, returning to the neighborhood where we had rented our first apartment 39(!) years ago. We were seated promptly for our 730 pm dinner reservation. Service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was perfect--quiet and elegant, with adequate space. My roasted bone marrow appetizer was delicious, as was the chef's pork special which I enjoyed as the main course. The scallop dish which my wife had was also excellent. Would return.

Each dish was as visually appealing as it was delectable. Their dedication to serving farm-to-table is what brought me to this restaurant and it was a delight to the senses in every way. Inside the quiet, candlelit Alison Eighteen we completely forgot about he bustling streets outside. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, eloquent, and attentive. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to a friend! What a wonderful respite from city life!

If you re looking for great food that tastes good and is plated beautifully, polite, friendly service and a quiet restaurant- this will be good for u. We were also under no obligation to rush our meal. Would definitely go back, especially with friends.

I've dined here about four times in the past year. I really want it to work, but am concerned it's going to fail. The food is good, but the prices are too high for what you get. I had the heirloom tomato salad that was only adequate and tiny. The centerpiece tomato wasn't ripe. The scallops were good, but I forgot that one only gets three scallops as an entree. And I was curious to learn about the rouge poisson, but the waiter couldn't quite explain what it was - hence my frustration. The dining room is beautiful and calm. They need to rethink the menu and make this place work.

This was my third time at Alison Eighteen and it was better than ever. The new chef is really fabulous. I had an amazing lobster, corn and mushroom salad to start, salmon a la plancha with cucumber spaghetti and beet puree, and the most amazing cookie plate I have ever had. The peanut butter and Concord grape creations are totally addictive. The wine list is very well chosen, with nice surprises and a range of prices. And the space - bar, front room and main dining room - are festive yet comfortable. Alison was there in person welcoming people. A great experience all around!

there's no denying the top level quality of the food at Allison Eighteen. It's the service that's lacking. More casual and less "white tablecloth" than her previous restaurant on Dominick Street, dinner here should not be a three hour affair. Yet that's exactly what you'll get if your waiting for someone to refill your wine glass or take your order or even check in on whether or not plates are ok. Hard to begrudge the staff as it seemed like two people were servicing the entire resto. but nevertheless, when you're paying $100 a head for dinner, you expect just a bit of attention.

Having had wonderful experiences at Alison on Dominick some years ago, my husband and I were looking forward to a similar dining experience. Service and food fell short. We selected something from the limited regular menu. While our server was pleasant, when asked what "labne" was in the octopus appetizer, she admitted that she didn't know and would get back to me with the answer (I still don't know what this is). Those seated after us were served before us, when our entrees finally arrived, my husband's chicken (which looked wonderful on the website), was dry, salty and served on a bitter bed of inedible greens My scallops were large, tender & also very salty. We paid the check, vowing never to return. Where is the old Alison hiding?

Alison Eighteen is a beautiful restaurant and perfect for a dinner with friends. The acoustics in this restaurant are perfect if you are looking to have good conversation with friends. Really enjoyed meeting "Alison" who gave great recommendation for the perfect wine for us. Just wish that the wait staff had been more attentive to my empty wine glass. Had to ask a few times to have my glass refilled. Their loss--probably would have ordered another bottle of wine if they had been more attentive. Paparadelle was so full of flavor--just delicious. Scallops were kinda boring.

I and a friend went here for Restaurant Week Summer 2013 and found it less than what expected. Not finding the special menu interesting we went with the regular menu. While my friend's steak was good, my chicken was under cooked and they ran out of the appertiv I was drinking (since this was the first seating, I was surprised). The roasted vegetables were also tasteless. Although the appetizers and desserts were very good and the service above par, except that we received decaf coffee when regular was ordered, the price of the meal exceeded our enjoyment of the meal.

Inedible spicy peanut butter ice cream -- like biting into a Jalepegno pepper;. Two salad dressings one too salty and one too vinegary to swallow. Two large parties come later, were served much, much sooner. Coffee cups hardly fit into saucers without wobbling. Allison: TASTE the food. TRAIN the staff. Offer at least one or two lighter options. For a cholesterol festival, the menu is divine. For healthier eaters, it's toxic. We'd love to like you, but just can't overlook the errors.

The service was poor. They were out of a lot of things on the menu. They were out of the wine that we picked. They brought out another bottle of wine that was more expensive and was much heavier than the wine we had picked. They should have offered this wine at the same price. We picked another wine. The food was just okay. Overall, I was very disappointed. I loved Allison on Dominick and it was one of my favorite restaurants. I would not go back to Allison on 18.

I really didn't want to believe the reviews on Yelp and OT regarding the restaurants horribly slow service because I've really wanted to try it for some time. My friend and I were sat promptly for our 7:30pm restaurant week reservation with the place only being about half full. Someone came to take our drink order fairly quickly, so I felt encouraged that reviewers were wrong. However, it then took 45 mins to get bread and our bottle of wine, 1.5 hrs to get our appetizer, over 2hrs to get our main, and over 2.5 to get our pre-ordered dessert. While the manager was very kind to talk to us when we started complaining at 10pm, the restaurant has a serious issue if they can't get meals out on a half-full Tuesday night in a timely manner.

Restaurant Week can be a questionable time to go to a nice restaurant, but Alison Eighteen offered a well-considered selection of choices, and made it clear that the special menu would vary throughout the promotion, which is a great idea. In addition, they offered optional supplements, such as foie gras, which was a nice touch with the beef entree. The wine list is one of the secret strengths at Alison, with a wide variation of regions and styles, and plenty of interesting options at a reasonable price point. I have enjoyed Alison Eighteen when dining from the regular menu, but I always give extra high marks to a restaurant that offers a really great menu for the $38 prix fixe Restaurant Week promotion.

Alison was the perfect place to get together with two old friends and talk. There are lots of banquettes and the tables are nicely spaced apart from one another.
