"This our 2nd visit was like night and day from the first when we gave Alison18 a near-perfect score. It was particularly unfortunate because we chose it for our anniversary and so advised the restaurant through you. The service was execrable. We ordered wine and after 25 minutes the wine steward returned to say they did not have it and recommended an alternative. When that arrived it was nearly undrinkable and I ordered another wine that was considerably more expensive. The owner apologized but made no offer to adjust the price. We were in the restaurant for at least half an hour before getting someone to take our food order after asking several times! We ordered a side dish as suggested but it never came with our main courses."

"excellent service and great food in a relatively quiet atmosphere makes Alison Eighteen a perfect place for dinner and conversation with old friends. The pacing is perfect; the staff doesn't rush diners to "hurry up and finish" and tables are placed far enough away from one another that true conversation is possible."

"It was our first visit, and we had a very fun lunch. The food was good as was the wine. Our
waiter was really nice but made a lot of mistakes, all of which he corrected very quickly and with apologies. We will definitely return."

"Food was excellent - the octopus appetizer is really fantastic. Loved the scallops and my guest's roast chicken was terrific. The beignets for dessert are just sinful - lemon cream and chocolate sauce. Alison packed us off with some delicious cookies. I liked the fact that it wasn't too loud - you could have a conversation. It's not a scene-y place - more real food for grown-ups. Really like it and will go back soon."

"I wanted to really love Alison Eighteen, being a new higher-end dining experience in my favorite neighborhood, Flatiron. But it was just good. Drinks were fine - well mixed and properly delivered. Food is good - nothing bad, nothing offensive, all solidly well built dishes, but nothing amazing, nothing that blew me away. The room is big and comfortable, but also bland and mediocre and corporate feeling. It would easily fit inside the dining allocations of any Sheraton or Hilton hotel. The service is solid, relatively attentive without being pushy or overly on top of you. All in all, this was an okay dining experience - which is disappointing considering how expensive it is, but my extended family enjoyed the evening out."
