Alioto'sWhenever we are in The CityWhenever we are in The City we have lunch at Alioto's. The food is consistently good and we love the atmosphere. The seafood sausage is fantastic! They had a very reasonable lunch menu but we skipped it for family favorites including the Salmon Kalbi and the cioppino. We have never had a bad experience here. The reduced star for service was due to the water forgetting to bring a soup which we pointed out when we got the entree. They more than made up for the error.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Experience! We go to Fisherman's Wharf several times a year; but, this is the first time we've eaten at Alioto's. We had the perfect table next to the window overlooking the fishing fleet with the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. We couldn't ask for a better view. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive, the service was quick and the food was fabulous. My wife had the crab cioppino and it was loaded with crab. It also had mussels, clams and shrimp with a spicy tomato sauce that was delicious. I had the seafood combo sautee which included crab, scallops and shrimp in a white wine and mushroom sauce with rice and a vegetable. Everything was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be returning to Alioto's.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMStart to Finish Great!!Back in the early 60's when my Dad was in the US Navy he first visited Alioto's - ever since whenever someone he knew was headed to San Francisco he would always say "You have to go to Alioto's" well I finally made here and let me tell you it was great!
Food was awesome - clam chowder was spicy and excellent - scallops were brilliant in flavor and presentation. Wine list was good - sour dough was great to.
This is a must go!!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMBecause Alioto's is situatedBecause Alioto's is situated at Fisherman's Wharf, it's often dismissed as a "tourist trap" by us locals. However, we should not leave this place to the tourists! The service is wonderful old fashioned San Francisco Italian, the seafood is fresh and tasty, and the view just cannot be beat. We started returning here a few years ago, just by ourselves, and have been recommending it to neighbors and friends ever since. Please give it a go, you will not be sorry!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFish cooked perfectlyLive the classic mix of fish and Italian. Everything was perfect been back three times. Lunch is excellent also,
Reminds me of old school NY restaurant.
Very professional wait staff.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect choice!Looked over many spots but chose Alito's......so glad.
Tim, our waiter, was so nice and informative....just had the best manner...we lucked out.
Food was good and we had a lovely table overlooking a small marina with the Bay Bridge in the background.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMsan francisco land markAlways one of SFs great dinner houses on the wharf. Great food, great view, great ambience. An SF must try.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGolden gate view, at sunsetA great resturant and very customer focused. We choose it for the view of the Golden Gate bridge especially for a sunset. The staff was helpful and responsive. No rushing..5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely view and great foodWe were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant.
Can't fault it really.

Quite memorable!
Their homemade sausage was really outstanding.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb food and service atSuperb food and service at this San Francisco legend. Best and freshest fish dishes imaginable. Strong Sicilian tradition on cuisine. Warm attentive service. Nice location overlooking the water.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBusy and fullThe ambience and scenery were very good. The popularity does make the waita bit long though. My wait was not too long but I did have the feel that they were very busy.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGrad PartyPerfect dinner for our group. We each ordered something different and everyone said their meal was delicious. The service was excellent, they kept the drinks coming. We weren't rushed to order nor were we rushed to finish our meal which made the dinner so much more enjoyable. Overall we had a great experience.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Great food, great service and great view! I would highly recommend!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner. The shrimpsGreat dinner. The shrimps and calamari were so tasty and my husband loved his mussels. The view was beautiful. We went there Mothers Day evening so the restaurant was very busy but we will served in a timely mannner. We look forward to going back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMom's Day at Alioto'sAlioto's is not only a San Francisco landmark, but a family favorite going back to my grandparents. Great service, friendly. The view is unmistakable "wharf " with a view of the Golden Gate. Had a hard time following the conversation with members of my family because I kept on gazing at the view.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food but a little priceyThe seafood was fresh and delicious. We had a great booth for four - and view over Fisherman's Wharf. We were kept waiting at the small bar for 15 minutes after our reservation time and had to chase for the table. The wine list wasn't extensive but surprisingly good value. The bill seemed a bit pricey given the touristy feel to the place with 18% gratuity and a 10% service charge added automatically. That said, I would recommend it with those caveats.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Vacation MemoryWe really enjoyed the food, location and service. Such a great place. I haven't been there since 1973 and it was just as wonderful as I remember it when I was 11 years old going there with my family.............The food is fabulous and the ambiance is regal ..........very up town and has an "old world charm"5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFriday Night at Alioto'sWe had a 7PM reservation on a busy Friday night and yet, we were seated at a window table with an outstanding view! One member of our party of 3 was delayed and they even held our table. I definitely would return to try more dishes - the lobster bisque was delightful and went well with the wine we selected (La Crema Pinot) . Service was very well-timed and friendly.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT Crab Sandwich!!!Try this place out! Price isn't too bad for a very good crab sandwich, go spend the money and substitute for other items. You're welcome! : - )5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGet What You Pay ForAlioto's is a must "go to" place in SFO. Perhaps just a bit pricey and slightly overrated, but the food was great, the ambience was up-beat yet romantic, the view is phenomenal, and the service was excellent. So, sometimes, you get what you pay for.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat San Francisco DiningAlioto's is famous for a reason. Great view, great service, and great food. Wait staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and various seafood dishes. The sourdough bread is spectacular. We had a great table and a wonderful evening.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointsFriendly waitstaff, good seafood, and views of the waterfront. Alioto's is a dependable, if not exciting place to get fresh seafood. We've dined here several times and have never left disappointed.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you find yourself at FishermansIf you find yourself at Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco and want to take in an active dock scene with the Golden Gate in the distance - check this place out. Ask to sit on the 3rd floor.... Great lunch... great view and fantastic service. We will go again when we are at the City by the Bay...4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI frequently use OpentableI frequently use Opentable for this situation: hungry, in a busy unfamiliar place, and want to find a place with good reviews that will seat us without a wait. I reserved our seat at Alioto's from the boat returning from Alcatraz. There were several pkaces that could seat us in thirty minutes, but Alioto's had great reviews a a picture of its big window. We arrived walking straight from the boat and were brought straight to our window table-more magical than I could have anticipated, the view was over the charming fishing boats of the wharf across to the Golden Gate Bridge. The food and service matched the view. I also appreciate decor that's a little more elegant rather than "themed."4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGood selection of seafood,Good selection of seafood, pasta, and even chicken and steak. Food was good, everyone in the group liked the dinner.
Reservations are for the upstairs resturant, walkins get the street level I assume.
Service was good, and not to obtrusive.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my wife's birthday,It was my wife's birthday, and the staff was amazing. Ask for table 9 best view in the house.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Romantic DinnerMy husband and I were visiting San Francisco and wanted a special place for dinner out on our last night in California. We had been to Alioto's a few times over the years and always were very impressed with the food, the atmosphere, the service, etc. This time was no exception. Alioto's has remained one of the top restaurants on our list!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and i go to Alioto'sMy wife and i go to Alioto's when ever we can. Food is wonderful, service top notch. Our favorite waiters name is Alan. Ask for his section, and have a wonderful lunch or dinner4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWaiter was helpful with theWaiter was helpful with the menu and wine selection. Food was excellent.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI hadn't been to Alioto'sI hadn't been to Alioto's in years and was skeptical by some of the reviews I read saying it was high priced. Well I don't know what these people were talking about because the prices were average and the food was very good. 4 in our party and everyone loved their entree. In my opinion Alioto's is still very dependable - good food, good service and a great view upstairs. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is bringing people from out of town and they want to provide them with a great "Fisherman's Wharf experience".4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSeafood on a more casual note.Seafood on a more casual note. Touristy due to location but well worth it. Seafood is excellent and very fresh. Atmosphere is noisy and energetic but it suits the surroundings and nature of the restaurant. Well worth it if someone is from out of town particularly.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic seafood. A classyFantastic seafood. A classy place. "Old school" but in the very best way.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOld world italian with great viewsWe had a perfect view from our requested window table of the bay, bridge, and sunset. Olivier was our waiter and a perfect host with notable recommendations. The Sisilian style calamari was some of the best we have had as well as the trademark cioppiano and bouillabaisse. The perfect finish was the classic cannoli and tiramisu with sambucca,,Grazie mille!!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful end to a perfect dayShowing friends around S.F. and ended up with dinner at Alioto's. They loved it. From the time we walked in the front door
until we paid the check and left.......we couldn't have asked for more. I even gave the maitre'd a kiss on both cheeks. The perfect

Really nice and enjoyable experience - highly recommend.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made reservations and wereWe made reservations and were seated at a window booth - it was overlooking the east side of Fisherman's Wharf but nice nevertheless. The service was impeccable. I ordered rockfish with truffled mashed potatoes and asparagus - the fish was perfectly done and the accompaniments were delicious. We also ordered Dungeness crab, fried oysters, and salads which excellent. Prices were high but not too much so. I'd highly recommend this place if you are trying to find a nice place on the wharf.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and wonderful viewGreat food and wonderful view of the Golden Gate Bridge very nice staff. Friendly and responsive. Been there many times and will keep going3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect spot for AWESOME crabOne place you must visit is Alioto's #8 on the wharf. The restaurant is on the second floor and you get a spectacular view of the wharf and bay. The smell of steamed crab fill the air outside which I find very mouth-watering! Once you go inside and get a table, the service is terrific. The host is welcoming and the waiters are very open to questions and helpful. I ordered their fried shrimp with sweet chili aioli and shared the "adventurous" steamed crab which comes with EVERYTHING! Not to gross anyone out but I look for and thoroughly eat the crab "butter". I am a purist and this was OUTSTANDING!!! It was steamed to perfection with all its "butter"y goodness! FINGER LICKING GOOD! A must do on any trip to San Francisco!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDelivers on everything!Everything was really good. We had a 6 PM reservation. We were promptly seated, with a great view upstairs. Our waiter, Peter, was very attentive.
The traditional fried Calamari was crisp and had lots of "legs", and was delicious. The Bouillabaisse fish stew was truly excellent, with large bites of salmon, lots of calamari, mussels, and veggies.
Dessert was Tira Misu and Cheesecake. Both very good!
It's not inexpensive, but you get a classy atmosphere, great views and service, delicious food, and free parking across the street with validation.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMwe visited for a Saturdaywe visited for a Saturday lunch. The place was lively, energetic, and the staff managed it well. No wait for our reservation. The service was terrific and the food was outstanding! Great recommendations and a must at least once when visiting the area.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding service, foodOutstanding service, food and view.
