The items we ordered from our experience there (veal ravioli and tirimisu) were really good, the rest of the food, average to not so good (scallops were so disappointing). Our dishes took a long time to get to us, and dessert took 20 minutes, even though restaurant wasn't full."

  • "We had such a great time at Alfio's. The award winning short rib ravioli is amazing. The empanada trio is ok, somewhat mild flavors. Needs more seasoning. We had dinner reservations, but we had to sit at a high-top table in the bar because "they were all booked up and didn't have any regular tables available." However, several regular tables sat empty all night. We would have liked to sit at one of them! Still, great restaurant and great experience. Will definitely go back! Oh and the bacon-wrapped lobster tail is delicious, but it was a little smaller than we were expecting."

  • "This was our first visit to Alfio's after trying the restaurant at Taste where it won Best Dish. Alfio's exceeded our expectations in every way. The food was amazing and some of the best Italian in the city. I had the Short Rib Ravioli, while my wife had the Seafood Risotto. The Ravioli is served in a truffle butter sauce that is to die for. It is very creamy with a very robust flavor. On sauce alone, the dish was outstanding. The Risotto was creamy and well flavored with a well proportioned amount of seafood added into the dish. Our appetizers were good but not noteworthy. The salad with crab was light and quite good. Our service was outstanding as they made solid recommendations throughout the meal. Definitely going back!"

  • "Service was mediocre. Food was disappointing. Unfriendly but adequate staff. Table outdoors was very close to people running/walking along sidewalk. We went for our anniversary and told waiter it was a special occasion. He had a very blah personality and did not do anything to add to the experience. Never asked if I wanted another glass of wine. Did not tell us about happy hour price on drinks. Quoted wrong price on entree of the day, but did correct when we told him bill was different. Trout special heavily sauced and seasoned. seafood store next store was discounting the trout to get rid of it. Probably my dinner. Had been here previously and enjoyed the flat iron steak. Wine selection not my favorite for whites, red is fine."

  • "Always looking for new restaurants in which the owners have crafted something original and Alfio's is absolutely something special. Our service was great and the food was outstanding. The preparations of appetizers and entrees were very, very good - even after 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday night (the earliest reservation we could get.) Unlike some restaurants that have a limited menu featuring different-shaped noodles with different-colored sauces, Alfio's has a true variety on its menu. We will definitely be back!"

  • "From the warm greeting at the door to an informed waitstaff, Alfio's has it all! Twenty-five years gone from Hyde Park, I returned to host a birthday celebration, and found it on the web. I chose the ambience of the neighborhood square on a Saturday night, so it was a win for me to find this dining gem! Don't miss the empanadas with drinks as you mull over the menu. My party chose pasta, pork, seafood and steak entrees, all impressive. Sides and sauces are amazing! I booked Open Table reservations from out of state, and was impressed when they called me to confirm. We took our time, never felt rushed (as weekend dining sometimes does) and wrapped the evening with a delicious dessert. i will drive 120 miles to return again soon!"

  • "This was a special find in the charming Hyde Park area of Cincinnati. It was obviously a local hotspot as every table was full on a week night. Everyone seemed to know the servers and the friendly owner who stopped to visit with each table. Steven, our server, was quite attentive, personable and patient, with a smile, as he accommodated my need to taste my wine selection first. My husband had the angus ravioli and said he would order it again. I had the lamb risotto. It was good, but I think I will try something else next time. It was a bit too gooey for my liking. We ended with the house specialty dessert--the tiramisu mousse which was quite good. All in all it is worthy of a repeat visit when we return to Cincinnati another time."

  • "We went here with a group of friends based solely on reviews in Open Table and we were not disappointed. Drinks during Happy Hour were great, especially the Limoncello and Espresso Martinis. Wine choices were excellent and the food was as well. Risotto was perfect and the filet special was exceptional - they even gave me some extra chimichuri sauce! Can't say enough about the service - wonderful. Highly recommend."

  • "This was my first time at the restaurant and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was recommended by my mother (whom I brought with me) who tried the food at the Taste of Cincinnati. She loved the Spinach & Cheese Empanada so much this is where she wanted to have her birthday dinner. We all enjoyed the Empanada Trio very much so, my mom had the Red Trout dinner, I had the Seafood Risotto and my cousin had the special of the day which included a pulled pork empanada and Butternut Squash Mascarpone Soup. We all enjoyed the service, the food and the whole experience very much so. I look forward to dining here again!"

  • "We recently went for dinner at 7:30 on a Sat. The restaurant was 85% full, and seemed very upbeat. But from the moment the hotess asked us "How many in your party?" the night of not being able to hear what anyone was saying began. Even she could not hear my answer, and I was standing right in front of her! We asked for the quietest place possible. We then had one of the best dinners out I have eaten lately...Short Rib Ravioli for the husband, Steak/crab special for a friend and grilled lamb chops with lovely vegetables for me, although my "medium" lamb was brought out very rare and took a LONG time to correct. In summary, a great place too go for wonderful food if you are with someone you have nothing to say to, or go on a Tuesday."

  • "I loved this place! Every single item we sampled was outstanding. We started with the empanadas which were all wonderful. The bacon wrapped grilled lobster tail was well done also, perfectly cooked and accompanied by guacamole that was fresh and flavorful. The fried goat cheese salad and the grilled romaine salad were both delicious. Our entrees included short rib ravioli (to die for!), scallops which were perfect and a special offering of a small filet with asparagus and crab cake ravioli in a sweet red pepper sauce. All were excellent! I am excited to go back and try more menu offerings. The chef knows what he is doing I would recommend this restaurant for those who appreciate quality ingredients, well seasoned and perfectly prepared."

  • "I've been to the restaurant several times and the food has been excellent every time. The empanadas are simply amazing, particularly the spinach and cheese (which recently won an award at the Taste of Cincinnati). The crust is so tender and delicious, it really enhances the fillings. I had the wild mushroom ravioli in a cream sauce. My only comment is that the dish was light on mushrooms, some bites tasted more like roasted red pepper ravioli. But, regardless, each bite was delicious. My waiter, however, was not the best. I think I offended him early on with an offhand comment. He recovered slightly as it got closer to tip time. What are you gonna do?"

  • "We were eager to try a meal at Alfio's and were pleased to find it even better than we anticipated! Menu choices were unique and interesting - we had a hard time deciding but selected the lobster tail appetizer - the salsa had a fresh flavor; our entrees were the Trio and the Baby Back Ribs. The latter was so tender, the bone fell off the meat (!) and the sauce was beyond delectable. OK - dessert! The Italian Tartufo and the Argentinian Crepes were extraordinary. The prices were reasonable for the creative offerings, plentiful servings, friendly and efficient service and remarkable dining experience. We definitely will return, this time eager to try other menu items. Alfio's buon cibo - what a find in charming Hyde Park Square!"

  • "This restaurant won a few awards at the Taste of Cincinnati, so we gave it a try at the brick-and-mortar location. Two of the three empanadas were tasty (award for the spinach one). The wine list was not what any one would expect for a nice restaurant, and the service solidified our opinion that this is not a destination for foodies or wine lovers -- the server didn't know the difference between a Pinot Grigio and a Riesling when asked her opinion. All of us in the group skipped the entrees because nearly every one was heavy with cream sauce, creamy risotto or mashed potatoes. Save your money and go somewhere else."

  • "The Spouse and myself are very proficient at meal preparation and presentation at our own home. Normally we spend the evening picking at the weak points of an eatery. None could be found here. The staff was excellent, and not invasive as seems to be the practice now, even in higher end restaurants. The marriage of the flavors, presentation and aromas on both of our entrees were perfect. I recommend this restaurant highly. "

  • "Our party of four had a great meal at Alfio's. We went to the restaurant after hearing of their awards at Taste of Cincinnati and were not disappointed. We shared the Empanada Trio, Fried Goat Cheese Salad, Seafood Risotto, Short Rib Ravioli, and the Wild Mushroom Ravioli. Everything was very tasty and everyone enjoyed everything. We plan to go back.   • "My husband and I brought two couple friends with us - it was there first time at Alfio's. We all very much enjoyed our dinners. Two of us had the special (4oz filet, 2 scallops and risotto).. Both of us loved it. We were seated at the back of the restaurant at a round table so we felt we could enjoy ourselves even if that included some loud laughter. We weren't rushed at all and leisurely enjoyed three different desserts and coffee. Wine was also very good. Highly recommend Alfio's for a group, but make sure you have reservations....it was packed on a Friday night."

  • "Food was amazing. Will possibly go back again. Server was friendly but focused on a smaller table of 4 and absent most of the time, letting our drinks go unfilled. For the price, service should have been great. I gave her a 12% tip, but she didn't earn that at all. Noise level was higher than it should have been. Le Petite has similar prices with amazing food with service, ambience and noise level to match. For the price, I don't want to feel like I'm in an O'Charley's or any other chain. If you take the food out of the equation, I would rate them a TWO. With food and deducting for all other factors - a SEVEN. For the price, ALL factors should be high."

From confirming your reservation, to having a glass of wine at the bar, to a delicious meal with great service, you couldn't really ask for anything better. Food was great (Lamb Risotto and Empanada Trio). Service was friendly and considerate. Restaurant had a great feel to it. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a Italian with a twist."
