  • "If you are looking for something different - and something for just about everyone - ALFA is the place. Duck burgers, escargot, wraps, salads, soup samplers, local cheese board, pastas and lots of fresh food. Top it off with homemade ice creams - what is not to like??"

  • "Wonderful dinig experience all the way around. ... Food was spectacular from presentation to taste. Impecablly clean and our food was presented on beautiful plates! Crazy good food from the gourmet cheese platter and oysters on the half shell to the airy cheesecake and the must-have homemade ice cream sampler! Our entrees were perfectly cooked, hot and delicous! All in all, one of the best meals ever!!! A must try for all! "

  • "Alfa is a true DeWitt gem! This one time steak house has been transformed into an upscale destination for those seeking a truly fabulous dining experience. The staff is friendly and engaging, the atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable and the food is to die for!"

  • "Great staff, great food. Unfortunate that a screaming child was allowed into the dining room at 9:00 PM to ruin the ambiance."

  • "We are thrilled with our brunch experience at Alpha's and look forward to returning. We have groups of friends that visit from the Buffalo area and can't wait to share an Alpha brunch with them!"

  • "This was our first time and ALFA and we will definitely be back. There is a large open fireplace in the center of the dining room which makes for a very romantic and relaxed atmosphere. The martinis were very good and strong enough you knew you were getting what you paid for. Food was very flavorful and came out at a nice pace- I didn't feel rushed between courses nor did I feel was I sitting around waiting for food to arrive. It on the experisive side for the Syracuse area, but worth it for their desire to buy local and support local businesses."

  • "There were seven of us. Upon arriving, I asked the hostess if they could bring a dessert with a candle for my mothers' 88th b'day. She said no problem she would inform the waitress. After being seated, we were never greeted and welcomed by the waitress just, "would you care for something to drink?" A waiter appeared and asked if we were ready to order. He was as unfriendly as the waitress. My pasta was missing the cheese balls. The waiter told me my dish didn't come with them. I checked the menu and it did. He told me they were out of a lot of ingredients that a shipment was coming the next day. They never brought the dessert with a candle. My mother even had b'day presents in view. We all agreed most unfriendly service we had ever had."

  • "We had never heard of this place but found it online and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. This is truly a fine dining experience. The restaurant appears to have retrofitted from an old 1960s golf clubhouse, which sounds strange but makes for a nice mid century modern environment. Service was extremely pleasant, competent and attractive. Overall the food was fantastic. It is innovative and takes a few risks, so there are a couple of items to stay away from (like the parsnip mashed potatoes) but as a whole everything was excellent. Give it a try!"

  • "Three of us ate pasta, one person had a burger. The food was tasty and interesting. The pasta portions, however, are more the size of a starter; so be forewarned to order an appetizer or salad in addition. The pasta entrees are expensive, 18, which might make sense if the pasta were homemade, the toppings unusual, but this was not the case."

  • "I had the wedge salad - which is made with Iceberg lettuce which I thought would be ordinary. It was not, it was delicious!!! Also had a flat bread and it too was outstanding."

  • "The food, ambience and service at Alfa was excellent. We were a group of 6 dining at lunch and all were quite pleased with the quality and portions except for one person who thought it was OK and one person who picked and left a lot on her plate. Everyone else raved about the quality of the food and took the balance of their lunches (that they couldn't finish) home. My goat cheese salad was spread on a generous bed of field greens and interspersed with candied pecans. The dressing complemented the salad quite well. I was a bit disappointed with the butternut squash soup that was on the bland side with good butternut flavor but few spice notes in addition."

  • "Food choices are very healthy. Nice that they use local foods. Good choices. Excellent taste! the dining rooms are inviting especially the room with the fireplace. Service is very good. Overall, I would suggest Alfa to a small group as well as a larger group and I know my husband & I could enjoy a quiet dinner for 2 there."

  • "This was our first time dining at Alfa for dinner. Overall we were please with the experience, especially the ambiance of the fireplace and the food was great! Dessert was a huge dissapointment. I specifically asked if there was chocolate anywhere in the dessert (I told our server I only wanted to order it if there was no chocolate) and it came out sitting on a chocolate garnish and the top of the dessert was burnt (the nuts were charred black). It was inedible and sent back."

  • "Spent Valentines Evening at Alfa and was not disappointed! Was my first time here and the food was excellent! Everyone (4) selected a different entrée and appetizer. The steak and lobster, braised lamb, scallops w/orzo, and sautéed chicken. We also selected the cheese board, faux-cargots, and the feta and honey crisp..... all excellent. The service was good overall, but our waitress seemed to have forgotten us towards the end of the meal as our beverage refills were missed and forgotten. I will definitely return to Alfa, and would recommend it to friends."

  • "It was my first time here and the waitress couldn't have be more pleasant. The food was excellent. The swordfish was cooked perfectly and my girlfriend started how perfect her streak was cooked. The only distraction was some woman who apparently worked there in management who kept waking around with this unpleasant look on her face like she was checking up on the waitresses. That was unprofessional. Other than that, I would give the place the utmost review."

  • "This was my second time here and it did not disappoint. We were promply seated near the large central fireplace at a table with fresh flowers and a crisp white tablecloth. The escargot was top notch along with his beet and goat cheese salad. The braised lamb shank was very tasty as were the scallops. We split the carrot cake and were sent away with two truffles as a valentines gift. This place is farm to table and it is evident they take pride in their selections and presentations, this will be a place we will return to."

  • "We dined on valentines day, which often brings mediocre food and poor service, but the food was excellent and the service very good. We're very pleased to have such a fine restaurant nearby. This really is a notch above, without breaking the bank. We enjoyed scallop fricasee, blackberry lambchops, and the bacon and gruyere flatbread. All were excellent. Highly recommend. Can't wait until the decor is finished to have the ambiance match the food quality."

  • "The restaurant is fine and the food is excellent, but the staff were not very welcoming when we arrived so it put a damper on things. Will go one more time to be sure it was not an OFF night....because the food was excellent."

  • "what a consistently delightful treat to dine at ALFA..................always a surprise to view their ever changing menu..............the oysters were as fresh and chilled as one would expect at the NYC GCT Oyster bar......the ricotta ensalada and rabe where a fine addition to the buscatti ................................my partner's duck breast was well portioned , cooked just right ...and an excellent late night leftover.......................their website's list of local sources from Finger Lakes food consortium adds to my confidence to recommend highly"

  • "Owned by one of the former owners of L'Adour (which we sorely miss), the food is excellent and the service is perfect (helpful without being intrusive). My husband had the duck breast with lovely, melt-in-your-mouth, mashed potato puffs. I had the seafood platter which was fresh and DE-lish (and exactly as described on the menu). The cranberry focaccia bread (called "crack" bread by the waitstaff because it's irresistible) is fabulous. I can't wait for summer when the outdoor dining patio will open. We avoided ALFA for many months because of the goofy, cartoon logo. Then we chanced it and were pleasantly surprised. Make no mistake--this restaurant is no "Chuck E. Cheese" for children! It's meant for adults who enjoy fine dining."

  • "This menu includes something for everyone, but especially for lovers of real, healthy and local foods. Great vegetarian selections, as well as traditional grill items, and some very non-traditional meat offerings (Lamb burgers for one). The food was beautifully presented and very very good. I was strongly recommend to anyone who like a change of pace."

  • "Eating lunch in the bright room with linens on the table creates a warm ambience. Dinner with the fire going is another great experience. Our party for dinner loved the hors d'oeurves; especially the escargots and oysters. Salad greens are fresh and matched well with delicate dressings and accompaniments. Our entrees were delicious; we ordered swordfish and scallops. Plating is very beautifully presented. The dessert selections are wonderful, and we ordered profiteroles which were delicious. I would highly recommend Alfa as one of the better restaurants in Syracuse."

  • "This is the 4th or 5th time I have enjoyed a meal at ALFA. The food is always good and the deserts are some of the best in Syracuse. The service just does not match the food. It is too bad as with a bit more attention our evening would have been perfect. Never the less I recommend ALFA and hope that with time the service will improve."

  • "We took friends to ALFA on a Wednesday evening. Of course, it was quiet (about 4 tables dining.) It was easily one of the finest meals I have had in my 29 years in Syracuse. Although the menu is eclectic, it is clearly influenced by French cuisine, with the utmost care taken in the preparation of every dish. With tip, we averaged slightly over $50 per person, but that included sharing the four-soup sampler (DO THIS!! We all loved ALL FOUR soups!) and a couple of glasses of wine. For most budgets (including mine!) this will be a "special occasion" restaurant, but I'm going to find myself looking for more special occasions! I am so glad that we have a restaurant of this quality in Syracuse. Decor? A work in progress. Food? Incredible!"

  • "I love Alfa's and will definitely go back...but my experience on 12/21 wasn't the best. My companion and I had reservations and were seated right away, but waited 15 minutes to order glasses of wine, which took 10 minutes to arrive. We weren't asked for our order for another 15 or so minutes, then waited for bread. By the time it came, with our shared appetizer, we had been in the restaurant for an hour. After another long pause, our dinner arrived, 90 minutes after we were seated. The food was fabulous but the waiting was uncomfortable."
