Serving a selection of Fresh Seafood delivered daily including our very popular Prince Edward Island Steamed Mussels. Also, we offer some of the best thin crisp crust pizza, which was the first pizza served on the North Shore at Scornavacco's since 1944. All the classics are here, homemade pastas, hand carved and pounded out chicken and veal parmigiana, limone, piccata, and of course lasagnas, meatballs, and of course homemade desserts. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Another fun night at the gardens, though this time it was kind of noisy because of a table of 25. Not sure this is really the best place for that size of a group, but everyone was having a fun time."

  • "The night we arrived the place was packed but the host was very welcomg and took us immediately to a table, honoring our reservation ON TIME. Our waitress and servers were smiling and treated us as though we were regulars even though we were first-timers . Very rare these days . Host even came and got us a soda refill when the other staff was busy. Food was very good with added bonus of half orders available for pasta dishes. We'll be back,"

  • "My wife and I decided to have our Valentine's Day dinner with our young adult children but most destinations were already booked. I was happy to find an early evening table for four at Alex Washington's. It was a very nice evening and our kind of fun and relaxed atmosphere after the hectic work-week. If we had preferred a romantic spot, there are better options. Have yet to try the pizza...next time!"

  • "We've been patrons of Washington Gardens for many, many years. Under its new management -- led by Jim Stoecker -- it has improved its menu. Our favorite is chicken parmesan. We believe its thin-crust pizza is the very best, reminding us of our roots in New Jersey. Another thing we appreciate about Washington Gardens it the stability of its wait and support staff. Same folks visit after visit, year after year."

  • "I recently became a regular at Washington Gardens and can't say enough positive comments about it. The food, service and atmosphere are outstanding. The lasagna and pizza are the best I have ever eaten. Don't miss the fresh cooked vegetables."

  • "Our reservation was honored immediately despite the wait for walk-ins. The owner was gracious and welcomed us and the food was delicious. The service was another story -- our waitress was in another world, not sure the cause. We will come back but try one of the other servers who seemed to be great."

  • "If your looking for a welcoming, casual neighborhood restaurant on the North Shore serving delicious, made from scratch Italian food and generous libations by a friendly staff, head for AWG. The chicken and eggplant parmesan are the best we've had at any restaurant and the dinner salad with ranch dressing should be an entree of its own. Terrific thin crust pizza and a changing list of interesting beers also!"

  • "This Italian restaurant has the best pizza and garlic bread that we have found anywhere in the world. The original family recipes have been our favorites since the 1980's. We moved away and returned 15 years later. It is consistently great, we have always had wonderful dishes and excellent service. I especially like the Shrimp de Jonghe appetizer made into a dinner."

  • "Nothing fancy, but always a friendly, comfortable evening at AWG featuring wonderful service, delicious made to order entrees, and generous libations. If you haven't dined here, you should. This is Italian comfort food."

  • "On thing I love about The Gardens is that it appeals to all ages. My husband and I were at a booth but there were several family groups having a great time as well as couples sitting at the bar. Their menu has something for everyone. The ravioli al forno is available in a half order which is nice. I had whitefish and it was good, though the texture was a bit watery. The house salad is always a treat. Always cute holiday decor as well."

  • "My friend and I were at Alex's Washington Gardens for a quick dinner before a show. The restaurant was already "hopping" at 6:00 on a Friday evening. The night had a really great vibe due to the high energy. The staff were all smiles and warm greetings. The servers, bus staff and expeditors were all quite welcoming. Drink orders and food were served promptly. Our dinner consisted of the famous pizza and chicken pomodoro. Both excellent. I've reviewed the restaurant before and have highlighted the appreciation that the restaurant has shown towards their customers. The message is consistent and other restaurants can't even come close to the sincerity shown here. Thanks for a great Friday night!"

  • "Food and service was good but it was very noisy. Was a small restaurant and the booths for 4 were way too small."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed soup, salad, and pizza at AWG on a Friday evening. If you've only ordered the delicious homemade Italian entrees at this wonderful neighborhood establishment, you've got to try the fantastic thin crust pizza, either traditional or whole wheat crust. Yum! Terrific bar with generous libations to accompany your dinner with friendly service too!"

  • "Hostess was rude. A little late for reservation, gave my window table away and gave me a table across from the cleaning station. Then came over asked if we enjoyed our table."
    Dined on 8/24/2013
  • "Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious (steamed muscles were very good), the pizza is one of the best I've every had anywhere! Its been years since I've been here and I've forgotten what a fabulous gem!"

  • "Washington Gardens is an old fashioned Italian food joint. But with an updated twist. They they traditional Italian pasta dishes, tasty and rich. But also well prepared fish with fresh crisp veggies. Their think crust pizza is great. Service is attentive and friendly."

  • "My wife and I visited with our daughter who wanted to dine at AWG while visiting from Boston. This is a wonderfully relaxing neighborhood restaurant always serving delicious food and generous cocktails by friendly, attentive servers. The kitchen, as always, was very accommodating with a special request on one of our entrees. AWG is a restaurant that really makes you feel at home."

  • "no need to anticipate - you always know what you're going to get - good food, good service, very reasonable prices and a great selection."

  • "It was great to walk in and be seated right away with the hostess. Sat in a booth in the main walkway to the kitchen though so it was busy with servers frantically pacing back and forth. The noice level was extremely loud so I wouldn't go there for a romantic dinner. I would return in a group and try the pizza."

  • "Crowded, but still service was timely and food just as good as the many times I have eaten there."
    Dined on 10/18/2013
  • "The menu was great with too many delicious sounding things to choose from! We ordered the lobster fritters for an appetizer and they were fantastic! The salads that came with our dinner were beautiful with fresh cut vegetables and a delicious dressing. However, the entrees didn't deliver. We ordered the Lobster Sergio, Pollo Limone and the Veal Limone. Maybe our expectations were raised too high at this point, however we found the veal and chicken grossly under-seasoned. My daughter had the Lobster Sergio and she wasn't crazy about that either. However, the wine list was good and everyone around seemed to really like the pizza. We will come back and order the pizza."
