A word from Alex's Washington Gardens

Made from scratch, family recipe Italian cuisine in Highwood since 1932, and at it's current location since 1982. Serving a selection of Fresh Seafood delivered daily including our very popular Prince Edward Island Steamed Mussels. Also, we offer some of the best thin crisp crust pizza, which was… the first pizza served on the North Shore at Scornavacco's since 1944. All the classics are here, homemade pastas, hand carved and pounded out chicken and veal parmigiana, limone, piccata, and of course lasagnas, meatballs, and of course homemade desserts. Continued

"Friendly and efficient staff. Food was a mixed bag. We had four diners and a split decision. Shrimp a little too done in the pasta dish. Lamp chops a little lacking in taste. Chicken lemone outstanding. Pork chops very good taste though slightly chewy."

"Jim and his entire group go out of their way to warmly welcome their guests. This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant - menu is diverse enough for everyone but not overwhelming for making a menu selection. Great selection of wine and beer. Pizza is made the old-fashion way. Main course selections are prepared the way grandma used to make them. Terrific salad options too. Go early and often!"

"They have great Bruschetta a pizza. Came here during the week with the kids and they brought out a big taste of the bolognese sauce for my daughter to taste and she loved it.

Veal Piccante, Chicken Parm and everything elese was great.....try the pizza if you haven't,

"Washington Gardens is a restaurant that appreciates their customers and in return, appreciated by their customers. I enjoy the friendly and accomodating staff and I occassionly see hugs! We are not regulars but we are always greeted with genuine hello's. The food is always good; shrimp de jonghe, chicken marsela and pizza are a few of our favorites. With so many choices in the area, I like to bring friends and family here because I know that our patronage is always appreciated."
