  • "fantastic steak! Good atmosphere! Great Service. Thanks to Scott who made my son 18th birthday a remarakable one.....He brought Ryan a little treat as BD chocolate which he loved it and ate all the way to the end."

  • "Our anniversary dinner was very enjoyable. Both the food and service were outstanding as always."

  • "The steak and service were outstanding, but ~$450 for 3 people (only 2 drinks ordered) was more than I would pay again."

  • "Best steak I have had - beat Barclay Prime in Philly which is my home town!"

  • "Our server Kitty was fantastic. The pace for when each 'step' took place was perfectly orchestrated, i.e. the amount of time she gave us to look through the menu, the timing of when each course arrived (never felt too slow nor too fast). Food was excellent. Since am not much of a meat person my favorite dish was the beet salad. :-) Meat was nicely cooked to specification."

  • "As always the food at Alexander's is well prepared and cook to perfection. Went with our good friends and had a wonderful time. From the cocktails/wine in the bar to the dining experience it was just fabulous."

  • "A restaurant specializing in steak should never have steak that is not cooked perfectly. I ordered fillet and my date ordered t-bone. My steak arrived perfectly cooked. She ordered her T-bone medium rare and it came medium well to well. Of course they quickly corrected it but that's not the point. This restaurant is expensive and they should know exactly how to cook steak. Having your main dish improperly cooked marred the whole evening. Next time I will go to Manresa."

  • "2nd visit to Alexanders, Polite greeting upon arrival, comfortable and spacious table, attentive service and excellent steak! 4 1/2 stars overall"

  • "Delicious, expertly prepared gourmet food. Lots of staff w/ different servers for specific things, which does make the service slow. So don't be in a hurry. It gets busy and noisy. They serve Wagyu beef, the highest-end beef in Japan. It's expensive and a rare treat there. It's a rare thing to find it served as a regular on the menu. It's incredibly delicious and expensive! They have other types of steak that won't break the bank. Fun things served are tiny and flavorful: appetizer, intermezzo, palate cleanser and cakes and cookies at the end (if you are celebrating a special occasion - they ask you up front if you are). They are itty bitty, the size of a thumbnail to a tablespoon but they taste great and don't fill you up."

  • "From the greeting to dessert, everything was perfect. Steaks were prepared exactly as ordered. The Prime Rib was awesome and the T-Bone and RibEye were perfect. Definitely the "go to" steakhouse! You cannot go wrong here. The dining experience overall was awesome. The service experience was just as good as the food, which says a lot about the people and the business. I usually add something to ensure the review isn't biased, but I'd be lying if I said anything negative about Alexander's Steakhouse."

  • "...I still miss the Foie Gras. I'm a big fan of a good foie gras, and Alexander's made some of the best. So disappointing that California outlawed it. TBH, I used to dine at Alexander's more often back when they had foie gras on the menu. But that's not to say they have some excellent selections now, so delicious they almost help to forget the foie gras. Almost."

  • "We went for a special occasion to try the 3 course lunch. We were greeted pleasantly and shown to our table. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant. The steak tartar appetizer was decent but not special. The meat was chopped too fine for my taste considering filet mignon. It was premixed with capers and had truffle shavings which had no taste. There were 3 very cute but miniscule drops of egg yolk mixture and white toast on the sides. The Entree, The Hanger steak , was very good, perfectly prepared and with great flavor. The salad (panzanella) was good except for the bread croutons which were soggy and tasteless. My 2007 Rioja was a disappointment. Very bland and unlike Rioja. The staff was friendly and eager to help."

  • "I have been a fan of alexander's for quite a while due to the bar area,my favorite champagnes and the steak of course. I like the ambiance, fireplace in bar area and dining area. My dining experience tuesday exceeded my expectations. all of our servers were great but i forgot our main server's name who recommended the caviar and it was fabulous along with the crepes it came with. they resembled tiny pancakes lol. The service was exceptional and Phil enjoyed his 56th birthday dinner with me in a private setting. Thanks Alexander's hostess, bar tender and servers from the water to the bread. I enjoyed myself and will remain a loyal patron. Thanks Bella"

  • "Not what one would expect for $429 (before tip) for two. If the effort was put into the quality of food instead of the presentation, the meal would have been worth our time and money. The steak not what is expected from a steakhouse. My Ribeye ok, spouse's New York was fair. We had better quality & flavor Ribeye & New York at Morton's Steak House in down town San Jose, Cole's Chop House in Napa or Outback in Campbell. VERY over priced for the quality of steak! Very sad experience for our 32nd Wedding Anniversary. The noise being created by the 2 large groups was VERY loud! We could not even converse with one another at our table for two. To top off our experience I was not give my left overs and did not realize it until we got home."

  • "Always been a favorite restaurant of mine. I always loved the Kagoshima beef. Since it's so expensive, I always savor it in my mouth for 15 seconds before I swallow it. It's so delicious. Either way, all of the steaks there are good as well."

  • "I took my boyfriend and his daughter here for Father's Day dinner. We started out with lobster bisque soup. Then, we had a T-Bone, a 20 ounce cut of prime rib, asparagus, and lobster mac & cheese. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable, and every single one of us couldn't stop saying "this is delicious!" They have a lot of nice "extras" like little 2-3 bite tidbits of food they bring you in between courses to cleanse your pallet (ours was a seaweed octopus bite and then some sherbert with strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries). Then, at the end, they brought us some in-house made cotton candy! Albeit expensive, it is very, VERY much worth it. We will be back for sure. It quickly became our "go to" steakhouse."

  • "The Caesar salad was drenched and the steaks were served luke warm. Way overpriced to have this. Probably don't want to dine there again. I did get placed in a corner spot which was nice but there were two large parties in the same room which defeated the ambience I was looking for."

  • "I went to Alexander's to celebrate by son's graduation from a well known college in Palo Alto. So, I guess I should not be surprised about the prices and I basically said OK. After all I wanted to have a really classy time with our son. However, the prices are ridiculous, especially for the Wagu steak. I selected the $125 twenty two ounce steak and it was one of the toughest steaks I have ever had. It was just terrible. The remainder of the meal and the ambience were fine but they are way too arrogant about their steaks. Quite frankly, my father was a much better chef in terms of cooking steak. So, I guess if you want to throw away your money and you don't care, then go to Alexander's."

  • "Although it's quite pricey, its worth it if you are a foodie and if you are going there for a special occasion. The steak was grill to perfection, and they know how to use salt to bring up the flavor of the meat. Got to try the Hamachi shots, excellent appetizer. The size of steak is a bit too much, especially for ladies, so would be a good idea to share one steak and order other stuffs. Truffle Mac n Cheese is awesome! They offer prefix menu with some seafood items but I would pass. If you want seafood you may as well visit their seafood restaurant The Sea in Palo Alto. Stick with Steak :)"

  • "I love this restaurant, but we had a bad experience. My husband ordered a Prime Rib which came to the table cold. We asked if he could have anothewr one and after 10 minutes came back and said they were all out of Prime Rib. If we wanted a Filet it would be 20-25minutes, but i was almost done with me meal, so he ended up with no steak:("

  • "My wife and I went to Alexander's Steakhouse to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our drinks and appetizers were taken by our waiter Eduardo. Drinks and appetizers came swiftly. My beautiful wife ordered the burger and I ordered the Tomahawk Steak. According to my wife, the burger was good. The tomahawk steak was tasty and I was only able to finished about half; wanting to take the rest home. After the best dessert I ever ate (Rise n' Shine) and bill was paid, our waiter came with bad news. Our leftovers were accidently given to another guest. Eduardo made it right but offering a filet mignon with 2 sides to go or a gift cert for $100. We were really surprise with the high level of service. BTW, we needed up taking the gift card."

  • "Awesome liquor selection with lots of high end choices to start. The food is amainzg and the steak is to die for. Had the ribeye and it was maybe one of the best pieces of meet I have ever had and that compares it to places like Craft, Mastros, Peter Lugars, etc. Just absolutely amazing."

  • "We actually ate at the Palo Alto location with friends a couple months ago and couldn't wait to try Cupertino. Both times food has been excellent and service impeccable. I haven't seen this level of service even at Gary Danko or French Laundry where food is all great of course, but the excellent service was the finishing touch that made the experience complete."

  • "We go once or twice per year -- anniversary and maybe one other time. It is expensive, but worth it. Portions are fair to large, flavors exquisite, many choices. Wait staff is kind, efficient, and usually invisible -- just exactly the way they should be. We left totally stuffed and with smiles."
