Alexander's Steakhouse - CupertinoTry it for lunch!Dinner at Alexander's tends to be a special occasion spot for me. Lunch, on the other hand, is much more affordable. The food is beautifully presented, tastes great, and still includes some of the special elements like an amuse bouche' and cotton candy. I was surprised to find the restaurant nearly empty on a Friday at noon. As a result, the restaurant was quiet and conversation was easy. I will go again!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMto die for...A meal that makes you regret other meals is always a plus. Between the oysters, hamachi shot and caviar... the tajima strip along side the onigara king crab is to die for. We loved scott klein and the love and care we were given. An epic meal with great friends and family!! P.s. always wine pair... its the best way to go.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday treatAlexander's was very enjoyable, great attentive service, friendly staff, excellent food and wine. Special attention to detail and the star of the dinner the birthday boy!
Highly recommend for a truly unique experience.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWide selection of steak choices.Wide selection of steak choices. Particularly the Wagyu selection. Great !!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExactly what I expected...I went with my best friend and was truly amazed at how well balanced this restaurant is. The service impeccable, I felt cared for and welcome. The chef bites that they bring around were like little gems of mouth indulging teasers, very eloquently delivered. The bread server... One of my favorites :) came around often and always with a honest charming smile, content to be back.My Friend had the filet mignon, mouthwatering butterness cooked to pergection and i the halibut, both perfectly cooked and presented. The prices of course are quite high but to be expected at a restaurant of this calibur. You definitely get your money's worth in every sense! Oh and the dessert...wow... Enjoy and cheers!!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best on the West CoastIn addition to the west coast I've traveled the world seeking out great restaurants everywhere I go. Alexander's is among the very best.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy birthday to me!A wonderful birthday experience, topped off with our waiter, Bill's, expertise in what and how much to order. Cute cotton candy on a stick for a take-away gift!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial EveningAlexander's strives to provide a quality dining experience by balancing an excellent menu with attentive staff. Although the temperature of my strip steak was under, our waiter graciously offered a beautiful prime rib to eat while waiting so my dining companion would to be left eating alone. By the time my steak was ready, I was full from the prime rib and had the waiter package the strip steak. Not only was the food delicious, Alexander's attention to detail and course presentation (amuse and sorbet served) elevated our expectation from a steakhouse meal to a true fine dining experience.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, but food wasGreat service, but food was just ok for the price.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Silicon Valley Sheik!Never had been there before - very Silicon Valley scene - we did not go for the $300 meat but might next time - just to try. We did the $40-50 dry-aged Rib eye and New York - was okay. I must say - I was expecting more on the taste of the meat quality.
But everything else was out of this world - gotta go back for the heirloom tomato salad and very good service.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAhhh…Perfection! My husband took me to Alexander’s to celebrate a romantic birthday dinner and it was so wonderful! He informed them that it was my birthday so they had a booth reserved for us. The dining staff (not just the server but the staff) was super friendly and made sure that everyone was enjoying their dining experience, not just the dinner, but the experience. The food is served to everyone in the party at the exact same time so no one is left waiting for their entree. So if there are 6 people in your party…there are 6 people that come out with the entrees. The food was soooooo good, you MUST try the truffle mac and cheese! I can go on and on about the restaurant...but the last thing I want to say is you have to have dinner here at least once!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDO NOT BRING THE KIDS!!!Do yourself and the other diners a favor and leave the brats at home. This is exquisite dining at its best and NOT suitable for children! The only reason I have them 4 stars for Ambience instead of 5 stars is because there was a table near us that had a fussy toddler that at times completely destroyed the ambience. I realize this wasn't Alexander's fault, but it happened so there it is.
My bone-in NY Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. The gourmet lobster mac and cheese was sublime and the asparagus was so perfect!
I will always go back to Alexander's for fine dining. They know their stuff.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOut of the park againAlexander's again takes it home. From the notiable wine list to the fine meats as seafood. Hamachi shooters are amazing and the staff was beyond excellent service. Fantastic from start to finish.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Top Notch!I have been to Alexander's numerous times. This particular visit, I was with my 14 year old daughter. She absolutely loves this place! And with good reason. The service is friendly, attentive and by no means stuffy. The food is always excellent and even though I was with my daughter, I was able to get in a couple of good wine by the glass selections. Try the Hamachi Shots, they are to die for! The Prime Rib is consistently first rate, and my daughter always looks forward to the cotton candy they serve after the meal. I would whole heartedly recommend this place!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlexander's has a great selectionAlexander's has a great selection of steaks, including dry aged varieties. I had one of my favorites, rib eye, which was prepared perfectly. The sides are very good, as well, especially the baked potato which was moist and served with great accompaniments, and the truffle mac and cheese. The service is great, the atmosphere is romantic and the sound level is only moderate so intimate conversation is easy, and the wine list is phenomenal! A great place to take someone very special in your life.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Way to Celebrate! The Kobi Beef was excellent! My 2.5lb bone-in ribeye on the other hand was ok. Despite finishing it, I first had to brush off the sauce that was placed on top of my steak. The sauce was a mixture of tomatoes and bleu cheese. As a steak lover, I don't know who in the world wants to put bleu cheese on top of steak? I love steak plain and simple, cooked medium rare with salt and pepper. Bleu cheese on top of steak? Why put sauce on something so delicious by itself? I had to scrape off the bleu cheese sauce and pour water to rinse it off. That is how I was able to finish my 2.5 lb bone-in ribeye. I hope the other steaks are not like this....5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Steak Restaurant in Bay AreaAlexander's in Cupertino is absolutely my favorite restaurant in the bay area. Whether I dine in or order take out, the quality of their food is spectacular. I wouldn't waste my money on Alexander's in San Francisco though!
Alexander's - Cupertino is incredibly accommodating. They used to make the best sauce (tarragon mustard) which is my favorite sauce but they don't make it any more. We mentioned it to the waiter when we were there how wonderful it was and how I wish they would bring it back. The waiter talked to the chef who said he would make it for me the next time I come in if I let them know in advance! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe tried a bottle of vintage wine..I cannot remember how many times we had dine in Alexander.
This time, my husbands birthday...
They never failed to make us super happy.
This time, Japanese beef (real one) ware back on the menu.
And we tried a vintage wine..
*・゜゚・*:.。..。.:* so impressive! ・*:.。. .。.:*・゜゚・*
And their cotton candy gave our daughter a big happy smile...*/(^o^)/*...
It was an enjoyable night.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat celebration siteAlexanders has always ben the premier venue for a high end celebration. Their food, service, and "extra"mini courses make it a truly memorable dining experience. e have NEVER been disappointed there.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service!Food is amazing, the ambience is great, the service is superb.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic as alwaysWe find that the food and service at Alexander's (in Cupertino) are consistently top-notch. Our slow roasted prime rib was especially delicious this time. Our server, Bill, was attentive and made our dinner extra enjoyable.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing experience. SteaksAmazing experience. Steaks were perfect. Dessert was a highlight of the night.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great experienceIt was me and my boyfriends anniversary the night that we went and I'm so glad we came to this resturant. Although it took a while for us to receive our entre, everything else was perfect. Our waiter was very nice and made up for the long wait.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAn experience to brag about. My parents are Japanese, so I've always wanted to take them to Alexander's Steakhouse. Since it was their 40th anniversary, I couldn't think of a better restaurant to celebrate. I'm so glad we did! They can't stop talking about how amazing the overall experience was especially our server. She was attentive, professional but not stuffy, and made my parents 40th anniversary one that they will not soon forget. She even took our order without writing anything down, and didn't make a single mistake! wow......5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe server was kind of rudeThe server was kind of rude who constantly only made eye contact on my male friend when asking questions throughout the meal and totally ignored me, the woman, who ended up paying for the meal. The wait staff had to bring over a flashlight so I can read the menu because the lighting was so dim. We chose our 10-course meal and everything was tasty. The pork belly was a little on the fatty side. I preferred the Ohmi Prefecture, which was excellent over the Kagoshima Prefecture, which was chewy and fatty that I could not even swallow it. Did not really care for the bone marrow as it was to fatty as well but was very tasty. The Onigara King Crab Legs were excellent. It took a long time to get seated even with reservations.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food... My god, the food...I have been to Alexander's steakhouse a few times already. In fact, I make it a habit to go there every time I visit the bay area. It's quite pricey, service may be somewhat slow, and the place is noisy, but all that does not really matter since the food is out this world! It is simply outstanding. Each and every item on the menu is well thought out, prepared to perfection, and beautifully presented. Don't forego the first courses, and grab one of their streaks for your main course. You won't refer it!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the Best Ever !This is about as good as food and service get, and the atmosphere where we sat was quiet and comfortable. I don't know how you achieve "quiet and comfortable" in a place that huge - but good work. We live nearby at The Forum and we have the same surname, so we don't know why it took so long to find youall.
We shall return!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing withThe food was amazing with all the different flavors. The waitor's recommendations were also very good- the Hamachi shooters received a big thumbs up! Very expensive, but worth it for the quality of the food and the dining experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTry the most expensive Wagyu beefWe decided to try the most expensive ($140 for 3oz) Wagyu steaks, and they literally melted in our mouths. Great food and decent service. The hamachi shots weren't the freshest (a little fishy, compared to the best Japanese restaurants) though.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood bordering greatService as always is excellent. Food is almost there, but not quite. A little over seasoned for my tastes.
Great for special occasions allowing for corkage and special handling.
Portions are large so come hungry.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for a special occasionReally, this is a Very Special Occasion place. Fabulous food, stellar service and you can't ask for better. It's not cheap, but worth every bit of it. But please, my fellow diners, this isn't the Cheesecake Factory. I know this is Silicon Valley, but DRESS UP!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest steakhouse in the South Bay!I couldn't have reserved a better table for my two year anniversary. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was romantic, yet vibrant at the same time. A must for any special occasion! This was my second visit, and will be back again for another great evening. I recommend the Tomahawk Chop, Idaho baked potato, wedge salad, and 24 Karats for dessert.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Fine DiningAlexander's Steakhouse exceeded our expectations in every way. The decor was elegant, the service was impeccable, and the food was amazingly good. We both had steaks. I chose a rib eye, and he chose one of the more expensive 3 ounce gourmet steaks, and we were both very happy. The creamed spinach and the asparagus were perfectly done. Every dish had something special about it, be it minced mushrooms, crab, or their amazing steak sauce, and we definitely enjoyed it. Dessert was also remarkable, special dishes that we never see elsewhere, or at least, not in such a wonderful presentation. I think you'll find this restaurant to be a good value for the money you spend, and the service will leave you feeling totally pampered.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day TreatI took my 86 year old mother and 2 of my daughters to an early Mother's Day treat. We were greeted by friendly staff. When our server asked us what we were celebrating, he responded by giving us complimentary sparkling wine. We were then told all about the meats, which was quite interesting, but my 86 year old mother was just ready to eat some prime rib. We were happy with the way they divided up the soups to those of us who didn't order any. we were surprised with the cotton candy that accompanied our dessert. Topping off our cappuccino with a frothy heart. What a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Mom loved it so much, she was telling her friends the meal cost $100 more than it really did. Oh mom!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMServiceThought the waiter did a great job explaining the menu with recommendations and also was aware we were on a time crunch due to flight reservations and acted accordingly. Bread service was sporadic, had to request a waiter to send some over and then again when we wanted more ended up having to request. Expected this to be automatic and even conveyed to the bread server to keep us in mind as we would be expecting more.
Time between our appetizers and meal took way too long. Expected that after the pallet cleansing sorbet to soon have our meal, but there was a long delay.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGo here! Expensive but delicious.Sensational food! The steak melts in your mouth. I always love to have Jamon Iberico Bellotta. We need more spectacular restaurants in the south bay area; this, Manresa, now Katsu; the serving size was great for trying lots of different menu items. We tried lobster, Wagyu steak, several appetizers. Completely impressed.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as everyone said.We had never been here before, but several family members & friends had dined here for years and raved about the great food and service. They also advised that it was a bit pricey because of their extended steak menu. So we planned our 45th anniversary dinner here hoping that it would be as enjoyable as our people had said it would be. Alexanders did not disappoint--in fact my wife and I agreed that it was the best dinner either of us remembered having. And not just the food, which was supurb, but the attentive service also. The service people were so nice too, taking time to answer any questions we had and making excellent suggestions when we needed help making up our minds. Already planning a return trip with our adult grandaughter.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey, but outstanding qualityI started with the Tuna Tartar (very fresh).
Had the 10oz fillet, with side dishes of crimini mushrooms (excellent), and quinoa pilaf.
The meat was absolutely outstanding quality - I've tasted better steaks (ie. this was not the perfect flavour), but the freshness and texture was unsurpassable.
Dessert was a butterscotch crème brûlée, with brioche crostini & cashew butter, and a tiny slice of fig... tasty but not memorable.
All ingredients were of the highest standard, and came together well.
Service was impeccable.
Price was what you'd expect at a restaurant of this calibre.
I'd come here again, but more for the experience than the flavour of the steak, so I won't be rushing back (This was my second visit, and I recall enjoying it more)5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great experienceWe have been to Alexander's SV for several special occasions. Our experience has always been special.
On two of our visits, we had an issue with an entree. Each time, the staff and manager handled the situation with aplomb and grace, fixing the problem and making a great impression. Kudos to Alexander's staff for making our experience great each time.
The food was very, very good. The ambiance was perfect, and we could chat intimately over our long meal. Our two year-old was treated as a special diner, and it was obvious that the staff has been trained in handling families with small children.
We felt special, had a very long and very enjoyable experience, and headed home, looking forward to our next visit. What more could you want?5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants I've ever been. The wating time is a lot, over 40 minutes.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMTomahawk ExperienceI wanted to eat here for some time. When I checked the menu online one specific item caught my attention - the tomahawk. The first time I had a tomahawk was the last year the day after Christmas. Before my favorite cut of steak was the porterhouse but when I ate tomahawk it became my favorite cut of steak. The tomahawk was how I imagined it has - extremely favorable and tender. Normally I have my steak rare but steaks that are bone-in, such as t-bone, porterhouse, or tomahawk, I order them medium rare. This phrase is overused but it definitely applies to the tomahawk at Alexander's: "this tasted like butter." I was so stuffed at Alexander's that I wasn't able to finish it. As Adam Richman stated on Man vs. Food, "This time food won."5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch menuWe enjoyed the varied luncheon selection, even more than the dinners. Delicious Dungeness crab salad -- perfectly paired with the dry-aged Ribeye steak.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in town!We ALWAYS make a reservation at Alexander's when we are in town. The food is phenomenal and the service is top-notch! This is a dinner you will not forget!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLeft wantingThe food is very good however, based on the reviews and prices, I have to admit I expected a little more. We were directed to the waiting area when we arrived 10 minutes before our reservation. We sat at a large table near the fireplace where a couple was being waited on. The server didn't even acknowledge us or the other couple waiting as he walked by us to/from the bar. Once seated it took a very long time to get our food after we ordered. The waiter was very apologetic however, and brought us some soup. They have a very extensive wine list but, of course, the Chilean bottle of wine I selected was no longer offered (I had the one wine list they forgot to replace.)The Sommelier's suggested alternative was excellent albeit more expensive.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI always come here for a specialI always come here for a special occasion whether its an anniversary or a birthday, this is the place to be wine and dined feeling our taste buds being pampered in every best possible way.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Alexanders offersAs always, Alexanders offers something for everyone. While we saw families with small children, there were also tables of generational families, as well as the young 'good looking' set. Alas, we were of the romantic persuasion ourselves. My husband has Alzheimers and we usually spend our wedding anniversary at Alexanders, Table 5 to be exact, so this is especially memorable, as who knows how many are left.
Service is Spot On and extremely knowledgable, a MUST for someone like me! Hats off to you all . Loooove the tenderness of the filet, and where did you get that hugh prawn for the Surf ' Turf. Succulent! Thsnk you, Freddie-Jo Soto4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper attentive and informativeSuper attentive and informative staff. Our waiter in particular, Josh, was professional but also very personable without being imposing. That's hard to come by. Food was delicious; some classics with a unique spin (ie white truffle fries) and some brand new flavors and textures that were really fun to experience! Im not a huge seafood fan so some of the fancy starters weren't my favorite, but still interesting to try. Also, Im now won over to medium cooked meat. I had my filet mignon cooked medium well but had a bite of my husband's medium cooked Kobe beef, and WOW! Night and day difference! Now don't get me,started on the desserts! Those deserve a page all to themselves! Absolute perfection all around!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were bothFood and service were both amazing. The truffle fries were the best fries I've ever had. If you go here and don't get the fries, I don't know what you are doing with your life. It was my father's birthday and they brought out a great dessert for him. The only issue I have is that it is really expensive. You would expect a nice steakhouse to be expensive, but the prices here seem excessive. Maybe I'm just cheap...4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the food, love the service,Love the food, love the service, love the attention to detail.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGoing to eat at Alwxander'sGoing to eat at Alwxander's Steakhouse was an amazing experience.
The hostess were very energetic right when we step through the door to greet and seat us. The servers and waiters were very attentive and nice. Couldn't ask for better service. Actually great to talk to and the waiter, John/Johnny, sounds like he knows what he's talking about when it comes to Alexander's foods. He was great.
The food was amazing. I ordered a Filet Mignon and it was one of the beat I have ever tasted. It was a good amount as well.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who knows how to eat a steak and knows good service!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
