Alexander's turned out to be one of the finest dining experiences we can ever remember. It was really quite close to perfection, and without the slightest pretention. Whenever we're in Virginia, we will now plan a trip to Roanoke simply to return to Alexander's. It's situated in the historic downtown of Roanoke so walking there was a cool experience and ambiance was great. Service was exactly how I like it - not at all rushed so you could enjoy a leisurely meal. Would be great for a date or just a nice night with friends and conversation. Suggestions from the server were top notch and really made the experience. I could not decide between two entrees and she pointed out one was available as a small plate option so could be an appetizer. Even though small plates technically ended at 7pm they accommodated me. The staff and the food were excellent, the experience was great. The only problem was OpenTable created a reservation for a table that was not there. Alexander's worked to get a table as soon as possible, however, our 7 o'clock dinner became a 8:30 dinner.
