Sat in the bar region, only two other couples in the room. Service was very skilled and what one should expect at a Resturant that is more upscale. Food was excellent and prepared just perfectly. Nobody but my father and my son were watching the television. My father and son were enjoying a rugby game when a staff member, possibly even a manager, came over and changed the station to a hockey game. I politely asked him to please turn the channel back to the rugby game that we were watching and his response was: 'We're watching the hockey.' HE - the employee - wanted to watch the hockey not the patrons in our particular area of the restaurant. What happened to the age old rule of 'the customer comes first'?! They have the best early dining menu, if you are cost conscious. The food is always excellent and the variety is good. They were able to enjoy their meals as a family and the more 'mature' diners were able to enjoy a relaxed and quiet dinner.
Our server, Andrea, was efficient, knowledgeable, and genial.
My scallops were delicious. My husband's steak was cooked to order. My only negative comment (which I seem to have at every restaurant I've tried in the South) is too much salt. As a frequent visitor to der Vaterland, I opted for the filet, which was excellent. THe wine list was extensive, with two price ranges. We enjoyed two bottles of Anne Amarie Pinot Noir which was also excellent (compliment to the schnitzel and beef). As compared with some much pricier Pinots, the Anne Amarie is a real find.
