  • "The food was priced near the scale of a Ruth's Chris or Flemmings steakhouse, but the quality is not anywhere near that league. You would get better quality at any of a number of moderately priced steakhouses (i.e. Outback). Boys ordered the sausage appetizer. What came out was grilled chopped up sausage on a plate. No garnish, no dipping sauces (they brought a squeeze bottle of yellow mustard to the table on request). No thought towards presentation. Salad was a very small portion and looked like it came out of a grocery store bag - no imagination at all. I will say though that the roquefort salad dressing was very good. Main course, was overcooked. Peas were soggy. The entire meal felt like the restaurant didn't really care."

  • "The property is a unique experience and has been around for ages. With our son college bound we were in SLO for a few days and dinner in town the previous night we opted to try the signature restaurant at the Madonna Inn having not done so before. The interior is 100% Madonna Inn and not for everyone but the food was good to very good. Our waiter and busboy were great but in my opinion not exceptional which is where the price point says it should be. Had a great time but for the price I will try other more intimate bistros in town next time we go up that way."

  • "This was our second trip to this landmark. Our server Ashley was a gem. She actually remembered us from our first visit in November. She even pointed out the table we sat at and what wine we ordered. We had the Sextant "Wheelhouse" Zin again and it was outstanding. . We both ordered rib eye steaks that were cooked to perfection. OMGosh, the favor of the steaks was great. The band playing the next room added to the festive mood of the evening. We split a huge piece of Raspberry delight that was heavenly too. We have become Alex Madonna Steak House devotees. We will be back on next our next central coast trip. Between great service and food, you can not go wrong at the Madonna Inn for dinner or a celebration."

  • "My husband and I had our wedding reception here in September of 2012. It was AMAZING! So we wanted to have our first anniversary here as well. I made a reservation and asked to be placed in the exact area where we had our first meal as husband & wife. When we arrived for dinner, they wished us a Happy Anniversary, placed us exactly where we had our reception dinner! It was perfect! Every time a waiter or waitress passed by us they would greet us with "Happy Anniversary" they served us with a beautiful piece of cake (free of charge) after our delicious meal. The service was fantastic! They made us feel so special, we couldn't have been any more pleased with our experience. The Madonna Inn is a gem!"

  • "Took my girlfriend here for a late valentines day and after our massage at the spa (amazing!) we walked from our room down to Alex's steak house for our 7:15 reservation, and the hostess was nice but I didn't check my umbrella at the front because she was kinda just throwing them all into one pile. The booth we were seated in was great and our server was very nice, she made sure to pop our bottle of champagne as soon as she saw us. $15 for corkage is reasonable, we both ordered the filet which was actually a little more tough than normal filet cuts I've had but it was at least 11oz which is quite large for $40 steak.The biscuits were amazing !Will be back but would try something other than the filet... overall our stay was just incredible."

  • "We celebrated Valentines Day a day early this year, staying at the hotel and dining in the restaurant. We had the French Filet and the NY Steak. Both were cooked exactly how we asked, despite the fact they were huge. The vegetables were very tasty and the service was excellent. We had leftover steak so the waitress called the front desk and asked that a small refrigerator be delivered to our room so the leftovers wouldn't spoil. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We had an absolutely fabulous dinner for our first wedding anniversary on Saturday Feb 4th. Our server was very attentive, helpful & friendly. I mentioned at time of booking that it was our anniversary & sure enough that message made its way to the restaurant. We had a Happy Anniversary balloon at our table & they gave us a complimentary piece of cake that was fabulous. It was great to have a reservation that actually meant when we arrived we were immediately seated, that doesn't usually happen so we were very pleased.   • "The last time I had been to the Madonna Inn was 25 years ago, and it was fantastic. Not anymore sorry to say. My wife and I ordered a filet and Lobster tail, the filet was ordered med rare and came very well done, the lobster tail was over cooked and tough. Our dinner took almost 45min to arrive at our table. They advertise as a steak house, come on steak 101 is to at least cook to order, if you can't execute a med rare filet, and not over cook a lobster tail.. you need to start over. By the way each plate was $92.00, we also ordered Abalone appetizers which were $25 for 2 pieces about the size of a silver dollar. these were actually cooked well. All in all dinner for 2 was $244 without drinks and without tip. Waste of money, stay away."

Got a babysitter for the kids and within five minutes of being seated we had a family with two young kids seated next to us at the time there were open tables all over. Jordan was our server, you could tell he was new, he did not know the specials and was slow with each course. We were not offered a 2nd drink until we were ready to leave. The food was great, the band was great, and the ambiance was fabulous. This could be a 5 star experience every time if the staff was properly trained and managed."

  • "I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and it didn't disappoint. We came with our kids and had a 7:30 reservation. Seated us at a booth adjacent to the dance floor so we could watch the band. Waiter was great - got the kids' meals out quickly so my husband and I could enjoy cocktails. Good reasonable wine list. Food was fine - I am a vegetarian and I was pleased such an old school place had options for me. You pay for the experience here, and it didn't disappoint. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We had a lovely Christmas day lunch at the Madonna Inn Steak House. Rib eye steaks with baked potatoes and buttered peas. The Rib eyes were very smoky and tender. Nice garden salad. The interior was decorated to the hilt! Christmas decorations everywhere! I love the pink upholstered banquets and all the Cherubs that are placed all over. We didn't have any of their fantastic desserts: too full!"

  • "An excellent study in kitsch! The atmosphere is great! However the food is totally overpriced for what you get. The meat was overcooked and tough. The complimentary snacks (cheese and vegetables) were bland. The salad wasn't freshly cut and a bit dry. The portions are too big and I think it's a shame to throw away so much food every day. The tap water tasted funky and would benefit from some filtering. Service was ok. This is a place I recommend for it's uniqueness, but not for food."
