  • "I arrived with my party but no one was there to greet us. We waited in the lobby area and looked around for employees but no one came out nor did we see anyone. After waiting for 5 - 7 minutes inside, we decided to leave. When you go in, there is an electronic door chime; so if there was anyone in the restaurant they could hear the chime. We can see why every time we drive by the restaurant is dead..."

  • "In my opinion, Chef Aldo is one of the best chefs in Houston. I have been a fan of his for 20+ years."

  • "Chef Aldo is wonderful. He visits all the tables, suggesting wines, specials, makes you feel at home. The food is outstanding and the service is exceptional."

  • "Very good, but expensive. Dinner for two with wine (selected by Aldo) came to $250."

  • "The first visit to Aldo's was on a Tuesday. There were few other diners and service and food was good, with a good deal of personal attention from Aldo. The second visit, on a Friday, was OK. The food was good but not outstanding. For the taste and quality, it seemed overpriced. It will be a long while before we go back."

  • "Greeted promptly, seated at a nice table. The specials of the evening were explained in detail, we ordered the salman special. The waiter asked our wine preference, we told him, he suggested a bottle which we purchased and it was very good. Service attentive but not overly. A very good evening. Will return again, and again etc."

  • "Chef Aldo's personal touch makes this a very special place. We did not even need to open the menu as Chef Aldo took care of us as if we were in his home. The meal was one of the best I have had in The Woodlands area since moving here two years ago and we have been to all of the top restaurants in the area."

  • "Even though my wife and I had our Valentine's Day dinner on Friday the 15th, choosing Aldo's was the right choice. Chef Aldo helped us with wine selection and suggested we pair this with a great squash ravioli appetizer. He then asked us what we were in the mood for, so my wife chose the salmon special, whereas I said meat and Chef Aldo suggested the Short Ribs braised in Barolo, which I was thinking about already. The choices were great! Even though we were stuffed, we shared a delicious Tiramisu."

  • "Upon arriving for our reservation we were greeted and within 15 mins were taken to our table. The menu was for Valentines day. So the only option we had was what to order for our entrees. The appetizer was a sampler plate and was not very good. It included three different raviolis and a very small salad. Our dinners were very delicious, I had the flounder and my wife had the grilled chicken. We were very pleased, finally. Dessert was another sampler plate and again not very good. One of the desserts was very good but since it was a sampler there was not very much of it and the others were MEH. Service was very slow and we had to remind the waiters to fill our empty glasses."

  • "Valentine's Day menu was very well-rounded, interesting, well-presented. It's hard to do a great job with so many people to server, but Aldo's did very well."

  • "Overall I found this dining experience poor and very unusual. While the wait staff was attentive, I found the head waiter's style very overbearing. For example, we never got a menu. When I asked for one, the head chef came over and basically told us what we would have, without prices of course. In the end it was clear that everything that they essentially pushed on us was a high priced item. The food was ok, but nothing to rave about. I made a mistake by not insisting on looking at a menu and ultimately not just leaving. However, I will not make the mistake of going back as there are too many other good Italian restaurants in the Woodlands where you do not feel taken advantage of."

  • "Great food and menu. Specials were excellent, but chef tended to push too much on making decisions for you rather than letting you decide on your own, so we ended up with twice the food that we would have normally ordered. Tiramusu had practically no liquer, coffee flavor or lady fingers and had an odd lemony flavor. Staff was attentive but very inexperienced - tended to interrupt conversation to ask if they could pour wine or bring anything else."

  • "My husband and I have enjoyed this restaurant since it opened. First and foremost, the staff is wonderfully personable and very professionally helpful. The ambiance in the carpeted dining room is wonderful. The light is low but high enough so we can still read the menu. There is a good wine list; we have never been disappointed in our choices. The food is exquisite and plentiful."

  • "We have been to Aldo's about a half dozen times. Food is always great. I love the Lamb Chops! The beet, goat cheese salad is also one of my favorites. Our service tonight was below my expectations and there was a noisy toddler (at 9:00 pm) at a nearby table. Of course the management has no control over guests who inappropriately bring young children. They have Luce music in the bar, which I love! And the guy was pretty good."

  • "Great selection, food, and service. The wine list can use some lower priced items to even it out."

  • "New Year's eve - very packed. We did not know when we arrived there was a $65 per person plated dinner. I am rating the food based on last visit and marking the overall very good because they graciously apologized about the mix up. We did not stay. Open Table was not a good choice for communicating this - it only showed we could get a reservation there for the evening. I don't guess there was a way around it."

  • "food was good overall and wine list was also varied. Not impressed with the waiter overall. Granted, it was New Years Eve and I'm sure they were a bit busier than usual, but he didn't have the tools to do his job correctly...had to scrape crumbs off table with his hands for example. Will go back and try again because this was a fixed menu and I would like to try some dishes on their other menu"

  • "This place just did not ring my bell. The food was good. The prices were a little high for the choices. The waitstaff was friendly yet a bit lacking about helping make a decision or promoting the menu in a passionate way. The decor was - well - plain. Just not what I expected based on the reviews. I would not turn down another meal here but I would not go out of my way to return. My recommendation to this place would be to close off the front windows and sound proof them, spice up the decor a bit, and make this a charming, intimate get-away for couples."

  • "Seemed like the restaurant could not scale for Christmas eve. Service was awful-unbelievable slow - with a reservation. Food was outrageously expensive. They were out of many items. Tiramisu was listed on dessert menu, but I truly think we were served an Italian wedding cake. Whole evening left us feeling, very regretful and remorse that we tried something new on recommendations. Plus - taken advantage of on price! Maybe on off holidays the food is good. Not sure, but not going back."

  • "Menu is good but getting a little stale. Aldo is a great chef but he needs to keep it fresh by changing it up a bit more often."

  • "We were celebrating our daughter's birthday and it was a memorable dining experience for the occasion. They brought her a complimentary panna cotta, which was delicious!"

  • "Great service! Aldo was going to each table to check on all of the customers. Awesome salads to start with, the caprese was great. I had the Cioppino, pricey but worth it."

  • "Excellent authentic Italian cuisine. If there is a dish you would like that is not on the menu, the chef will make it for you!"

  • "I was pleasantly surprised with my food. I ordered one of the specials (sea bass in a saffron sauce) and it was delicious. The piece of fish was very fresh, and they gave you a nice portion. (In fact, it was too much for me to finish so I took half of it home.) I had the beet salad and it might just be the best salad I have had. It was really different and fresh. The bread was amazing - nice crusty exterior and soft inside. My only complaint was the price - my meal, including gratuity, was over $70. I had one mixed drink that was $12. I guess that is the going rate these days, but I thought it was too much for gin and tonic. The wait staff was attentive, but not annoying. I'll go back."

  • "The staff was very professional. The food was very tasty. We asked to split a pasta and then a special entree. They did both splits in the kitchen - served very professionally! We will go back again!"

  • "Service was wonderful, Aldo made frequent visits to our table to pour wine, help us select menu, etc. Our food was prepared perfectly, from ravioli, to pasta to fresh fish prepared tableside. Our first visit and won't be our last, sorry we waited so long to get there."

  • "We made reservations for Thanksgiving night and were pleased that the restaurant wasn't crowded. The atmosphere wasn't quite what we were expecting for the price though - I expected it to be a little more fancy on the inside and outside. However, the food was excellent, and the wait staff were very helpful. The chef even came around to see how everything tasted. Overall, I was pleased with Aldo's."

  • "We went there for Thanksgiving. It is our third time dining here and we just love it. Again, food was excellent. So many choices, hard to decide what to eat! I try something new every time and have not been disappointed! And the Tiramisu is to die for!"

  • "We have experienced Chef Aldo's previous restaurant attempts. Unfortunately his current is consistent with history. Food is generally good, but watch out for some losers.Stick to the Italian dishes which were good. I had the short ribs at the recommendation of the waiter. I was served a huge piece of dry and stringy saurbraten/pot roast. The staff was harried starting with the frantic host, stressed waiter, and a sullen Aldo who charged from the kitchen to the front desk several times never engaging with his guests. Somehow Aldo does not create a sense of calm and confidence that one is going to have a pleasant dinner. Our second course was served half way through the first. The waiter was in hiding most of the night."

  • "Aldo's is a dining gem in the Woodlands area. We have dined here several times for both dinner and Sunday brunch and the service, atmosphere, and especially the food never disappoints. During our latest dinner outing my wife enjoyed the Butternut Squash soup and Osso Buco, while I tried the Tuscan Bean soup and the Pork Chop with apples and dried cherries. They were all delicious. Also, the teenage musicians, both pianist and violinist, have added to the dining experience."

  • "Excellent restaurant with moderate prices. Great waitress (Lisa), who's descriptions of the specials force you to get everything she recommends. Excellent Italian wine. Staff works as a team, which is always a good thing. I would come back to this restaurant next time I am in the area."

  • "We waited one hour for 2 items taken directly off the Sunday brunch menu, which consist of 12 items total, our waiter was lathargic and disinterested. Food was overpriced, paying for some high overhead (huge wine inventory and a building that seats about 120 even though there were only 8 diners there). The maitre 'd was the high point but it would be better if he spoke understandablle English. All in all a terrible experience and we will not be going back."
