Been wanting to try this for the longest time. Had guests visiting who love burgers so this was a good time to go. Heard so much about the burger and I called to see if they had plenty and the guy said maybe they will have some but not sure. So we took our chances and went down. We were seated right away but our waiter immediately had attitude. We ordered the secret burger and he said we got the last four. The burgers arrived and two were cold. Waited for new ones but guests already finished their dinner, so we kept waiting. The burger was good but not worthy of all the hype. When we were leaving, the table next to us got the secret burger. I thought we got the last ones so were did our new burgers come from? Meal was comped but lost us.

Reservations are definately needed as the dinner crowd starts at 5:00PM. Make sure to try the special burger but be warned we were told that they only make a limited amount each night. Specializing in Tapas style, it was a great meal.

The food was OK, but overly seasoned and salty. One of my party returned a cocktail that she did not like, but the waitress dealt with it without issue and was courteous and professional. I'd give this place a second try to see if this was an off night or we just chose poorly.

I was more impressed with A&H the 1st time than the 4th time. The food is terrific but there are no subtle dishes to mix with the blodly flavored ones. Every bite is big. But the real annoyance is the secret burger, which is not secret because it on the menu, but which they are consistently out of within two hours of opening on a weeknight. Who decided that there should a menu item that 90% of the customers who want it will find unavailable? Annoying the majority of your diners is a clever marketing tool? I'll probably go back to A&H, but I used to try to convince others to go and now I am the one who needs to be convinced.

If you want to hear yourself think or converse during a meal or seek a sense-space to savor (what we expected at $100+ for 2 with top reviews) without being interrupted by staff who keep asking how you like the food (insecure?) or assaulted by noise -- it looks like a cheap warehouse with two long, undistinguished black bars, banquettes and strewn tables (sound baffling?) this is not for you. If you want to admit you endured so you can say the chef's a genius, well....Small plates are densely layered and rich - three are plenty. Bluefish and any pork outstanding. You get instructions on how to order before what. Food's very good, but set in anti-sensual place that works against it. A self-absorbed gig from concept and execution to clients.

The food was very delicious, beautiful and seasoned in very unusual ways. The waitstaff was very helpful in describing what we would be getting, making suggestions about what to order. When I explained my need to eat gluten free, he was knowledgeable and thorough in following through and making sure that the food was safe for me.

We visited Alden and Harlow for the first time last week and were very delighted by the ambience, service and food at our brunch outing with friends. The menu was intriguing and imaginative while still retaining elements that were comfortable and famliar: their versions of kale salad, ox-tail melt, and a BLT.

We had a fantastic meal at Alden And Harlow. Their diverse small plate selection allows you to choose your own food adventure. We found the mixed vegetable appetizer: hummus, with squash, Bianco Sardo and broccoli to be exquisite. We were also very impresssed with the seasonal corn gnocchi. Alden and Harlow had a great cocktail menu to choose from (I highly recommend the stalker.) The only thing I would do differently is split a bottle of wine. The food is just too good not to. I can't wait for our next visit.

This was one of those place that make it worth going out to dinner. The food was AMAZING. Seriously delicious. Welcome to the neighborhood, Alden & Harlow--I had been so saddened by Casablanca's passing, but I think we've only upgraded. My only complaint is that the service wasn't well coordinated with the drinks...they came after the first course even though we ordered them first. That, and the bathrooms were a bit messy. But, OMG, I can't wait to go back!

Overall, food was sensational & small plates did the trick for 4. Only two small glitches- 1st, their infamous burger sold out in 45 minutes from opening. Seems dumb not having more burgers available if they are so "infamous". We would have loved to try the burger, but eating at 545p is not reasonable for most of us- we had a 730p rez. 2nd, the place is loud and noisy & not "energetic" as OpenTable offers. It was actually noisy and like "clanging pots" noisy. So for two couples trying to catch up, it was a bit hard to hear one another. Other then that, the place is fantastic. Feels warm inside, music is great & not typical which I liked (playin' Lil Wayne in the men's bathroom), and the food, again, was awesome. Loved the lobster tamale!

This place is great, the bar staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and so are the waiters. The food is very interesting and diverse, not subtle but since I am a fan of strong flavors I thought this was a winner. The presentation of each dish was beautiful. The highlights were the Trenne Nero and the Corn Pancakes (very similar to Venezuelan cachapas).

Alden and Harlow is definitely fit for foodies. The food was fantastic and the service stellar, a bit over accommodating at times actually. The small plates were definitely big enough for sharing and everything was prepared well. It is definitely a loud restaurant and can be cozy with neighbors depending on where you're seated. Our first visit to this place was just after a show at the ART. It was a late-night menu of small tapas-sized plates. Everything that evening was delicious so we were excited to return. This time we treated ourselves to a mix of smaller appetizer plates as well as larger dinner-sized offerings. The food was very good, especially their so-called ubiquitous kale salad. However, the grilled shrimp was a disappointment: two of us received three pricey shrimp -- a lot of money for a little bit of food. And how are two people supposed to share three shrimp? In the end, we decided that although we had no complaints about the quality of the food, we were disappointed in the portion sizes & high prices and this will probably keep us from returning.

Don't be fooled: the server will tell you the menu is "small plates intended for sharing" but you could make an entree out of one of the more substantial offerings. So go with several people so you get to try many things on the menu. The cocktails are good but overly "busy" for my taste. Service was very good, knowledgeable and efficient. The restaurant is "romantic" i.e. mood lighting bordering on dark. That's ok, you get used to it. The space has a bit of a split personality, with a large, noisy room toward the back, and a more intimate, quieter area for grown-ups and smaller groups toward the front. Ask for a table in the front part of the restaurant.

This was the second time at A&H and I didn't like it as much. We sat across from the bar and it was dark, we need miners hats w lamps. It was also very loud, had to shout to be heard. The food was great and so was the service. Recommend the room where the kitchen is located. Larger and more airy w better light. The kale salad was excellent and the Lamb the same.

Every dish was excellent. The corn cakes with popcorn were fun and unique on a dinner menu. Coffee rubbed lamb steak was perfect. Probably my favorite was the cured Lanza ham on pistachio butter with cherries with the pork belly carbonara a close second. The wine we chose was a little iffy in terms of secondary fermentation even after returning the first bottle, but that's a minor blemish. Service was also friendly, attentive, and well timed.

Got the gnocchi, eggplant, kale salad, lamb and crispy rabbit. The first three were absolutely amazing. The lamb was also very good. The crispy rabbit was a bit overpriced for the size of the dish. The only let down of the night was the incredibly slow service. We had to ask someone besides our waitress to order our food and to take our check. It was like we did not exist! That was the only negative of the night.

Everything that we ordered was just too salty, which made it almost unenjoyable. They recommend that you get 2-3 plates per person, but we got 2 each and a snack and it was too much, so I would recommend getting a few plates to start and then ordering more later- they came out very quick. We went for the burger, of course, and they were already out of it at 8pm so go early or don't expect to get the burger!

The menu was daring enough for foodies but not so daring that less adventurous eaters can't find a few things to make them happy. Our table shared all of the dishes. (The waiter suggested 2-3 dishes per person but we were content with 6 dishes for 4 people plus 1 dessert.) Everything had a great flavor with complex seasoning although a few dishes were a bit overly salted for some of us. Dessert was great. Beer menu was terrific. Cocktail menu looked delish but we didn't indulge. The service was attentive and prompt. Our server was very knowledgable -- we had numerous questions -- although a bit snarky at times (I think in an attempt to be humorous.) Decor was clean and contemporary yet warm, inviting and comfortable. Reasonable prices.

Dined at A/H for the first time. We had a wonderful waitress who answered every question (and we had a lot) about the menu. We had 4 fabulous vegetarian dishes -- the charred broccoli with squash hummus, seared japanese eggplant, burrata and beets and kale salad. Dined on 8/19/2014
This was my second time here, and the drinks and the food were quite good. However, the service, which was so-so the first time was downright poor this time. Start with the fact that dishes 'come as the kitchen prepares them'. Sure this is part of the concept (easier for the kitchen, worse for the diners), but we had one dish that never came and one dish that came so late as to be irrelevant by that point. The server poured the wrong type of water not once but 3 times in a row. It took a long time to get drinks. Wine didn't come with the dish it was ordered for and I had to ask the waiter to bring it while the dish was getting cold. It's a shame that such good food is getting ruined by poor service that can be fixed with better training
