  • "As always, the steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. Our waiter was great and didn't constantly interrupt us."

  • "This is the best steak I've ever had! Hands down and I've had some pretty good steaks in NYC. The steak marinate was out of the world. Not heavy at all. You can taste the meat and the quality of the meat just melts in your mouth. I'm raving about this restaurant once I get back to NYC. Our waiter was also just the best. He recommended me a good wine and was just a sweetheart!"

  • "great food, the service is exceptional, never a disappointment. Very expensive though for our budget these days. t bones have gone from28.00 to 42.00 in the last 5 yrs."

  • "My wife and I had ordered 6 oz. filets on previous visits. My wife likes hers medium-rare-plus, and she's always been satisfied by the result. I like mine medium, but they were sometimes overdone. That's not surprising, given the relatively small size of a 6 oz. filet. So we switched to the 10 oz. size, and I got a true medium -- thick, juicy, and done just right. My wife's 10 oz. filet was excellent, too. The best restaurant steaks we've had in many years."

  • "Came on a Sunday- prix fixe menu with good pricing. Service was great and accommodating of our kids to offer some off-menu options. We each had the ribeye and salmon. Both were well cooked but a bit salty. Parents bringing children for an occasion might like to know that my daughter didn't like her burger, and when I tried it before leaving, I found it too thick and undercooked on the inside. (In fairness to ALC, I will note that we didn't notify our waiter, as we were ready to leave when I noticed.)"

  • "Love this place. Must say the service was a little lacking this time, but all in all we are never disappointed. Can't even order anything other than the ribeye because it is so awesome. And thank you for the break basket!"

  • "Just realized on our last visit that this visit was the 4th birthday in a row we've celebrated here. We come at least once a month but any excuse will do. Love this place."

  • "We decided to come here on a whim, as we weren't looking to visit a sad chain of steakhouses, nor one that was overpriced. ALC seemed to fit the bill. Nice hostess, prompt seating, & good appetizers. We wished there was a steakhouse iceberg wedge salad option for salads. Steaks were generous, & cooked just fine. Delicious, even. Our server was professional and quick. Only complaint was the sad wine list & on an iPad. iPad wine lists are very diner-impersonal. This one was loaded with just ordinary, passe' wines. Wine list needs some freshness. If only Texas allowed patrons to bring their own fine wine, with a corkage fee, into a fully-licensed restaurant. Oh well, we'll have beer next time."

  • "ALC is an old Austin standby and didn't disappoint on this visit! excellent steaks, but our server-Brian-was even better! Brian guided us through the wine list and made excellent suggestions on the meal."

  • "We had friends in for XGames and they asked for a locally-owned special dinner spot. We immediately thought of ALC since our 2 guests work for two different food companies and sell steaks and other meats to high-end restaurants and hotels in their specific regions. In other words, they're steak snobs. We were greeted by the general manager and seated and later visited by the owner. Special service and ambience. After the obligatory mushroom appetizer, our friends ordered a bone-in ribeye and a petite filet. Everyone raved about their meals and the service. Home run for us and ALC as these guests were overwhelmed. Thank you!"

  • "My boyfriend and I went to ALC to celebrate his 25th birthday. We had an exceptional dining experience. ALC is not a place we can afford to eat at everyday, or even monthly, but it was perfect for this celebration. The service, food, and ambience were exactly what I was hoping for."

  • "We received our food 45 minutes after we sat down. Another table received their food before we did and were seated after us. Our waiter delivered bread for our table after several reminders. "

  • "Everything my girlfriend and I had was very well prepared and tasty, but we felt that, for what we got, the meal was overpriced. Their mixed drinks, however, were reasonable for what you got."

  • "Coming to Austin from out of town, we were looking for a high quality local steakhouse!! ALC was just that! What a great meal with great service. All of the staff were amazing! We could not have asked for anything more!!!"

  • "My wife, my daughter and her boy friend enjoyed an outstanding dinner. Steaks were cooked to perfection and garlic mashed potatoes were delicious. Excellent wine list. I chose a Spanish red (Las Rocas) Garnacha. The Texas Pecan tart was an excellent ending to a great meal. Staff is friendly, efficient and professional. A short distance from the hustle and bustle of downtown Austin, but well worth the trip."

  • "Service was really rushed and the flow of the meal was very weird. Also using ipads for a wine list and a samsung device for instantaneous user feedback is creepy. The waiter was forgetful. Forgot to give us our doggie bag. Food was great, but the service was really disappointing. "

  • "This was my first time at ALC. I enjoyed it as the food was good and it's is an Austin icon. However, I've had better steak and lobster elsewhere. And for $45, it should have been the best. "

  • "Everything was perfect for a 90th birthday celebration - - easy parking access, convenient location, well-prepared steak and shrimp, unique side dishes, and very warm and caring employees. They even brought my mother a little jacket because she gets chilled easily. It was my first visit, and I'll be back for sure."

  • "We ate at ALC as a UT graduation celebration. I made the reservation 2 months in advance. We 6 arrived promptly at our reserved time to find our table was not ready. The people before us had not vacated it. We sat for at least 20 minutes waiting. Meanwhile a large party of 12 walked in, gathered, and were immediately seated. Inexcusable in my book. It was very busy and extremely noisy making it more like a Friday night in a chain like Pappasitos. I had a 10 oz ribeye, ALC styl,e encrusted in peppercorns with blue cheese. About 3 oz of blue cheese in a thick layer on the top-way too much, looked like mashed potatoes. At least 4 oz of my steak was fat and sinew. Inedible. Should have sent it back. Will not eat here again. Very disappointing. "

  • "This neighborhood gem never disappoints. Service, preparation, delivery are all spot on. No, this isn't the tony new kid on the block but if you want a quality meal, this is very hard to beat. "

  • "If you're hankering for a steak, you won't be disappointed by this old-fashioned meat and potatoes spot. You can almost see the 1976 state ledge sipping martinis and cutting into tender filets in the recessed seating that surrounds the floor. High points were the chimi sauce that came on the steak and the potato clam soup."

  • "Best steaks in Austin, good service, love the building."

  • "Absolutely delicious steaks, perfectly cooked! Best part is it's a local restaurant and not a chain. If you want steak in Austin, This is a must go"

  • "We would highly recommend ALC Steaks to friends and family. The food was cooked perfectly, the wine options were plentiful, and the service was excellent. This would be a great restaurant for a small intimate meal, or larger parties and business dinners."

  • "This was our first time to Austin and we wanted to try out some local beef. As it turns out their beef is supplied from a ranch in Colorado, which was disappointing, but it was still very tasty. Prices were a little high, even for a downtown location, but the service was the best we've had in quite some time. Clinton was very knowledgeable, attentive and had personality...fantastic experience! I ordered the pork chop, which had a very spicy coating and it was delicious. The bar was packed so the Happy Hour must have been a much better deal. Still good for a special occasion. Located in a strip mall and the interior wasn't exactly impressive either, but still worth the trip."

  • "Shiner bock mushroom appetizers, salad and bread -- all delicious, but already half-full by the time steaks come with baked potato with all the fixing ... only complaint is that I can't finish everything I want to try in one sitting. One more minor complaint -- when sharing a steak (which I never understood -- wife and mother-in-law) it doesn't come out quite the same as the regular steak."

  • "We were in a room w/ 4 tables. Table w/4 women were so loud they should have been in the Ft. Worth stockyard. They finally left halfway through our dinner. Not much one can do 'bout that!"

  • "We were out-of-towners looking for an authentic steak restaurant to represent Texas when we entertained a relative from New York City. Austin Land and Cattle was recommended by numerous friends as a great "non-chain" restaurant for a steak. We were not disappointed by choosing ALC. The steaks and accompaniments were cooked exactly as ordered and were really, really excellent. We plan to return as often as we are in Austin. Our New Yorker left saying, "now I've had a real Texas steak and pecan pie!""

  • "I had the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer and it was okay though Tuna is not a favorite of mine, I always find the texture a little too rough compared to salmon. Then for my meal I had the Top Sirloin cooked Medium Rare and it was done excellently. I also had the Shiner Bock Battered Gulf Shrimp which was my favorite part of the meal, crisp and fresh! For a side I had the Truffle Bacon Mac n' Cheese and it was also delicious though I think next time I'd like to try a different side."

  • "My husband and I were looking for a nicer steak restaurant to celebrate and this was definitely a good choice! Food was delicious! My husband had the 16oz ribeye with the matchstick fries and it was wonderful! Great flavor! I had the jumbo gulf shrimp with sautéed asparagus...also wonderful! The rolls they bring you before dinner were warm and delicious! The only part of the meal that wasn't stellar would be the Caesar salad...not much to brag about there, but it wasn't bad. Next time I plan to try the tomato salad! For dessert we had the chocolate caramel bundt cake and the brownie. I would recommend both! Our service was good. The restaurant was noisy...but what can you expect on a busy Saturday night?! We will be definitely going back!"

  • "My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner. We went a little later than we normally do; 7:30 pm instead of 6:30 or 7 pm. What a difference. Very loud and busy. The tile floors and being seated at a small table on the main floor by a pillar didn't help. We couldn't even hear each other talk. But the food was great as usual. "
