  • "an excellent varied menu, even though a little sparse. The wings appetizer were incredibly good!"

  • "we had a birthday celebration for my wife Jody and enjoyed a romantic, elegant, amazing supper. Chef Tom presented a glazed duck, and glazed swordfish entree that we shared and enjoyed to the max. the sides of wild rice mixed with vegetables was equally tasteful. We were delighted with the meal, friendly service, and even offered a complimentary dessert for Jody's birthday that was a joy. What a great meal and evening. thanks"

  • "To be completely honest, we had plans for another restaurant that night, but we soon found out they were not open on Tuesday nights. I had never been to Alberts, and wanted to treat my wife to something special for Valentines Day. We are of average income and social status and so a fine eatery such as Alberts is only for special occasions for us. We are though connoisseurs of food and dining and we were not disappointed. We were glad to be there, the atmosphere was right, the service was excellent and with smiles. We never waited too long, but also didn't feel as if we were rushed - it was just right. And the food was also very good - met our expectations for a place such as itself. Thank You."

  • "If you're passing through, don't miss the opportunity to eat here. Or send your kids to Luther. You won't regret either decision."

  • "It is hard to judge Albert's as our first visit was on Valentine's Day. The restaurant worked to accommodate a large number of customers which meant setting up tables in the hotel lobby and bar. The result was not very romantic. The service was friendly and the food was good."

  • "Our experience at Albert's was only fair, unfortunately, because of the wait time for our food. It was a holiday and we're quite sure that reservations had been made by everyone in the restaurant. They had set up extra tables in the hotel lobby, but apparently hadn't planned the kitchen or staff accordingly. We waited over an hour and a half after sitting at the table for our food to arrive. And we ended up going to the concert we had planned to attend afterwards over half an hour late. I will say that the food was quite good and it was nice to have a special meal deal for Valentine's day which was a fairly decent price."

  • "This is midwestern meat and potatoes, but it is hardly plain. The restaurant is set in the beautifully restored Hotel Winnishiek and features locally sourced meat and produce. Try the Iowa chop marinated with lemon and sage. Beers on tap feature a selection from the Toppling Goliath brewery. For breakfast I had the prosciutto and oyster mushroom benedict - very tasty!"

  • "Albert's offers a range of delicious and healthy meals for any age. I appreciate their many gluten-free options. Tough to decide if I like their dinner menu or the breakfast options (including homemade scones) better."

  • "We truly enjoyed our experience staying at the Hotel Winn and convenience of dining at Albert's. Very friendly staff, nice variety of entrees, and delicious food perfectly prepared - from appetizers and salads to desserts. We will definitely stay at the hotel again and dine at Albert's!"

  • "We had made the reservation several weeks in advance. Driving down from the Twin Cities we were held up in slow traffic and realized we would be a few minutes late. We attempted to phone the restaurant to let them know we would be there soon, but got a "message service" promising to call us back. When we arrived 10 minutes late our table had been given to someone else. Although the manager said he would make every effort to seat us in the bar so we could make it to our concert on time, he made no such effort. I went to the bar and ascertained there were 2 open tables, so I obtained permission to take one. Service was slow because they were quite busy and not adequately staffed. Food OK."

  • "They have the most amazing spinach artichoke dip. We had it two nights in a row on our girls weekend. As far as main courses go, all of us had the beef tenderloin......it was had an amazing blue cheese butter, along with devine garlic mashed potatoes and steemed broccoli. Great drinks too. The only thing I would change is ambiance. It was fine, but we asked them to dim the lights, and they could use candles on the tables. Brunch the next morning was wonderful too!"

  • "Both my friend and I were served waaaay too much food. We are small older people and each of us left half or more on the plate. Since we were going to a theater performance following dinner, it was not an option to take a "doggy bag". This happens to us at many restaurants. We are environmentalists who HATE to see such food waste."

  • "We were all happy with our choices, though a few of us were very unhappy that the ribs are no longer on the menu!"

  • "Albert's is a gem in N. Iowa now that Chef Tom Skold is at the helm. We started with the Iowa Grazer appetizer which highlights cheese and meat from Iowa. A favorite that is also available in the bar if you just care for apps. The beef and chimichurri was perfect! My husband was all about steak that night and his ribeye was very flavorful and one of three steak choices. It was hard to choose, so we left it up to the sous chef and were not disappointed. Chef Skold recommended the duck breast special with a spicy rub and golden raisins. Outstanding! The grilled flavor made it the best duck I've ordered and just the right balance with the vegetables and baby lentils. Who knew there was such a thing? And in little Decorah, IA.!?!?!?"
