Alba once was one of the gems of Boulder. A few years ago it moved around the block to its current location, but managed to maintain its quality. I have to say that my recent dining experience was greatly disappointing. The service, while never great, was extremely slow. (45+ minutes of waiting from ordering until food arrived -- in spite of a mostly empty restaurant.) Staff was fairly friendly. It was just slow, neglectful service. The food was fair. I had a breaded pork dish that was 80% breading. Cocktails were very good, if small. We ordered a Tuscan wine that was quite fabulous! I would not recommend this place now. However, based on strong history, I may give it another chance sometime in the future.

Food and service were great. Bread salad special and watermelon salad were terrific. Try the watermelon. Light and satisfying. Better than tomato salad in the summertime. My flank steak with Tuscan potatoes was excellent. My wife's branzino was perfectly prepared. Servings are not large, but enough to satisfy. Wine pairing suggestions were spot on.

Alba deserves more custom than it receives (at least on weekday nights). As one of five or six parties dining in their spacious outdoor patio (there seemed to be at least a dozen tables there), we enjoyed the peaceful ambience, which looks like it is ready for a photo spread in Sunset Magazine. Food and drinks were all excellent. I particularly commend the duck, which was delicate and succulent. My wife adored the roasted potatoes that came on the side of her dish; they were worthy of France or Belgium. Among the cocktails, there is a drink called something like Lemon Twist made with Aperol that is very nice on a summer night! The wines served by the glass (we tried three) were all delicious and unusual.

We were staying in Boulder for a wedding the previous evening and went to dinner the following evening at Alba for our 44th anniversary dinner. The choice of wines-by-the-glass was nicely varied. My wife had the pino blanco which she enjoyed as being nicely crisp and perfect with her Ligurian Seafood Stew. She is a connoisseur of cioppino and bouillabaisse which she has sampled in many cities and judged this among the best. The sauce for the stew was rich and flavorful with out overpowering the seafood itself. I had pork tenderloin that was wonderfully tender and tasty. We enjoyed creme broulee and a strawberry tart for dessert; both well prepared. The service was attentive but not intrusive.

My wife and I have eaten at Alba a number of times and it's the place we often go to when friends visit. The food is dependably good and the service is excellent. Unlike many fine-dining, but noisy, restaurants in Boulder, you can eat well at Alba and still carry on a comfortable conversation with your guests. Alba's patio is the best in Boulder - casual, comfortable, attractive and away from traffic. For dinner we ordered the lasagna (always a treat), the chicken special and the pork. All were well prepared and nicely presented. Rick always has a good selection of Italian wines, many that you don't see on other wine lists in town - and he'll help you select the right one to complement your meal(s). Go to Alba; I guarantee you'll like it.

They have a 'house' version of the Manhattan, which was quite good. I had the seafood stew, which was quite good. A couple of shrimp, some squid, and lots of mussels and clams in a tomato-based broth. Some bread would have been nice to sop up the broth with. The service was professional, without being snobbish. The patio was quite nice, considering they are in the middle of a busy parking lot. No charge for parking.

For some reason I'd not visited Alba in some time. We arrived in time for Happy Hr, which happily extends until 6:30, and it was such a bargain! Very interesting drinks using premium liquors for $5 included the Lemon Spritz ~ limoncello, prosecco and aperol...YUM-O! Also there's an Absolut Mandarin Cosmo I'd like to try. And the "Small Bites" for $4 & $5 were marvelous...roasted brussel sprouts w/pancetta; cheese & salumi plates. And pizza's for $6...my Fungi of forest mushrooms, fontina, carmelized onions & rosemary olive oil was divine! I'll be back soon!

We've dined at Alba a dozen or more times. Each has been a delight. It stumps us why it's never more crowded, since the food is so good, the service so friendly and professional. The space is charming, the bar is beautiful, and the menu very sophisticated and enticing. People who love Italian that goes beyond pasta and red sauce should try this. You'll come back!

Have been to Boulder a lot over the years, since my daughter was at CU. So I've tried a lot of restaurants in Boulder and the last was the best. Alba was a real revelation. Being a bit of a food snob from San Francisco, Boulder was always ok, but never really a food town. Alba has changed my mind about that. The food at Alba would stand up just fine in SF. The pastas were authentic and very well prepared. Our boisterous, post-graduation party of six was treated very well and every dish looked amazing. Well done, Alba!

Our niece was in town and looking to have a great evening. We had not been to Alba before and the quality and service exceeded our expectations. Proportions were just right. A small yet high quality wine and drink list was a plus. I really appreciate the reasonable spacing of the tables. You did not feel jammed in and it really added to the ambience while keeping the noise lever reasonable. I highly recommend Alba - it would be great for a romantic evening.

Alba is one of our favorite restaurants in Boulder. The food is always dependable and tasty. The wine list features a large number of good, yet reasonably-priced wines that pair up well with the food. The wait staff is excellent, friendly and attentive. We often take visitors here because, unlike many places in Boulder that are very noisy, Alba is quiet enough to carry on a conversation, and you never feel like they are trying to "flip" your table. It's a very relaxed, comfortable place to enjoy a good meal with friends, which we do often. We particularly like to go to Alba in warmer weather because of the patio dining, probably the best in Boulder. Also, happy hour here offers great small plates at reasonable prices.

The food was excellent but the service was awful. I felt like our party of five was rushed through the meal. I wanted to enjoy a nice meal with my daughters and her college friends. The reviews said it was quiet and a good place for groups. Well, it was not quiet but not too noisy. As soon as we sat we were asked to drink order. Before the drinks came we were asked for our dinner order. I sent him away but within five minutes he was back. The restaurant was not crowded so there was no reason to rush us. We had our meals on the table within a twenty minutes of being seated and out in 45. Needless to say I was VERY DISAPPOINTED.

We went during Denver Restaurant Week and had a very pleasant meal, so we didn't see the full menu but the selection that was provided was very good. My wife had Alaskan Salmon and she enjoyed it, but enjoyed the polenta and pear appetizer more. I had the margharita pizza appetizer - the thin crust was excellent and ingredients balanced - and the lamb shank w/polenta was very good. I intend to return in the near future.

Execellent food and atmosphere. Don't let its location in a strip mall deter you. Step inside and it's wonderful. Best dish of the night was a poached pear with gorgonzola and pine nut cream and a small polenta cake. Perfect bite to put a little of each on your fork. Also loved the mushroom trofie which was handmade, small rolled pasta with mushrooms. Didn't look like much when served to me, but the flavors were outstanding and very rich. My husband had the hangar steak with pesto, Tuscany potatoes and arugula with lemon juice. Very good, but his favorite of the night was a lightly breaded mix of calamari, snapper and shrimp with a light vinegar tartar. We will definitely return.

We hadn't been to Alba for several years so we took advantage of restaurant week to return. The food was very good, we both had a warm pear and polenta 1st course and the boneless lambshank for the entree. For dessert I had the blood orange custard which I have to say tasted just like an orange dreamsicle so not my favorite part of the meal. We both had red wine flights suggested by the waiter which were very good. My only suggestion, not even a complaint about Alba is that they could probably do something with the dining room to make it a bit more cozy and romantic. Right now it is just one big space and you can pretty much touch elbows with the table next to you. Something to give you at least a little sense of privacy and intimacy

Denver Restaurant Week happily coincided with our wedding anniversary and so provided a great excuse to try somewhere new. We live in Estes Park and eat in Boulder only once or twice a month. We decided that Alba Ristorante would be worth a try and we were delighted with our experience. The fixed price three course dinner probably is an abbreviated menu, but offered an excellent variety of choices. The wine list is almost exclusively Italian and the Tuscan Le Pupille Morellino was an excellent accompaniment to the Mushroom Trofie (Handmade pasta twists with local organic mushrooms, shallot, thyme, pecorino Romano) I ordered. My wife was delighted with her Pan Roasted Canadian Salmon (Tomato, black olives, capers, garlic, pepperoncini, Ital
