Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant was closed on June 30th although we have booked a dinner several weeks ago. Also, there was no any early notification that restaurant will be closed on June 30th. You must compensate us for the waste of our time and the money spent to come to the restaurant."

  • "We arrived and it was a totally different menu as what was online. The food was actually wonderful but the place was empty and they told us they had changed the menu and that it was changing again soon to a totally new restaurant with belly dancers???? It just felt like we were in a transition phase and wish it had been what we expected."

  • "Please re-evaluate this restaurant---what it is does not match the description. It is not Italian and they will be serving Mediterranean next week. The night we were there menu was BBQ 6/20/14 with limited selections. The food was wonderful (tuna steak & skirt steak) and the view great looking out at the ocean. Food was hot; service really slow. The server left during our meal and we had to find another one (Thank You Andy) as we didn't know what happened. They have a great setting just need better servers and service. Also, they automatically put a 20% gratuity on the check."

  • "We arrived expecting an Italian restaurant. The sign out front said Italian, the waitstaff's uniforms said Italian, but the menu that was placed in front of us was for A & B barbecue and seafood. There wasn't so much as a pasta on the menu. They played it off as their "summer" menu instead of being honest and telling us the old restaurant was gone. We had appetizers and left"

  • "Pros: Great service: both our waiter and the other who was around were amazingly helpful, nice, friendly... every positive word you can think of. Guillermo, I'm looking at you! The food was perfect: even though they were out of something (I think it was a crab appetizer), they suggested the lobster sliders instead and they were great. As were our meal choices - they came as described on the menu, and were perfectly portioned and cooked. The sangria! The view: we only saw some of it before the sun set, but the view of the water was lovely until it got dark. No cons. Except for the fact that it's in Florida, and I don't live there."

  • "This was a first date. Place was almost empty at 7 pm Fri nite, although I think it is because the restaurant inside a building and outwardly not readily visible from the street. Worked to my advantage in that we could converse and not feel rushed. Staff was most accommodating and attentive. Waiter arranged for the chef to make me soup that was not longer on the menu. It was delicious. Both fish and chicken dishes were delicious. I recommend it."

  • "The food was great, the service was great and the ambiance was nice. It would have been nice to see more customers in the restaurant."

  • "Alfresco dining overlooking the ocean the view is unbeatable. Menu selection is limited in choices and pricey. My food was tasty and well prepared. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was a bit lacking and a bit dated looking. Their terrace on the ocean is their main asset."

  • "My friend and I took a friend to Alba as it is one of our favorite restaurants to show off the potential of Sunny Isles dining. The wind wasn't blowing too hard so we ate on the terrace. As usual the service was great, and the food greater! We started with the bacon wrapped figs, moved on to the chef's special, a wonderful version of a New England clam bake. The moon was full and glimmered on the relative flat sea, making it a wonderful night for all! Especially the special activities for the Full Moon Celebration including the club upstairs...,"

  • "We had never been to this restuarant befor and had a coupon so desided to try it we went on on Wednesday evening and they have this 6 course meal for $35. our waitress said it was all you can eat, so i thought yes, 6 courses is all i could eat. But we found out it was all you can eat and you could order refills of any of the courses, so since i am a desset person i ordered another dessert and my companion ordered a second on the shrimp dish. What a find. and on Wednesdays they even have a $15 all the wine you could drink. and the view was great. we go there for an early dinner so we can enjoy the ocean views before it go too dark and believe me we did we will definitely go back again and again. Our waitress Lucy was outstanding!"

  • "OK food, nothing extraordinary nor delicious.. Just plain OK. There's a great scenic view during the day, not worth going for during night time as it's pitch dark. Recommended for a 'normal' place in the neighborhood, nothin special."

  • "ON the way to the restaurant unless you are driving a car or one of the tenets who have access keys to the side door to go to elevator you can die going up the ramp shared by the cars coming up to the front door of building . Can not understand why it is difficult to get people walking from the area who prefer not to drive a short distance to risk their life to eat in there. Pleas make allowance to more people to come to your place and not only settle for the hotel for your business FOOD Short rib meatball was a good start and I loved the grilled spicy shrimp, it was deicious"

  • "I took my girlfriend to this restaurant for valentines day. When we walked in we were less than impressed with the decor of the restaurant, it seemed incomplete almost. The next thing that we noticed was that the menu was hardly Italian... There were a couple of dishes that were Italian, but overall I wouldn't call it an Italian restaurant. I ordered the chicken Milanese and my girlfriend order the fish tacos (not Italian, I know) and we ordered the garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus for sides. The mahi mahi in her tacos was not good at all, the Milanese was bland and tasteless, the asparagus was cold, and I'm pretty sure the mashed potatoes were instant and came from a box. We asked for the check with full meals still on the table."

  • "Arriving at Alba is a special treat, as you drove up a steep windy driveway, go up a glass staircase , and end up overlooking the ocean. The. Decor inside is lovely too, but marred by having TVs in the restaurant. There is a $5 charge for the valet parking, which seemed fair. Very nice salad offerings that can be topped with a variety of nice protein choices including crab or lobster. Their specialy meatballs are heavy and filling, but really great-tasting."

  • "Another hotel recommended it, got there and only one other party of 4 was in the restaurant. Ordered a few appetizers at bar that were ok, drinks were rather expensive, service was pretty basic so to our surprise an automatic 18% gratuity was added to every check but of course not mentioned."

  • ""I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The eggplant appetizer was amazing, also the Crab. Service was well-timed and friendly, and they have one of my favorite wines from New Zealand. Had a great birthday dinner at Alba's""

  • "First time was for the Miami Spice. The food and service was excellent. Sat indoors due to the heat. Second time around, our party sat outside in the nice breeze, enjoying the incredible ocean view. The service was equally excellent, but unlike the first time, the incredibly large shrimp were overcooked, tough and chewy. The lobster was cooked perfectly. But overall the entire experience was great."

  • "We celebrated a belated anniversary here, and we are so happy that we did. Everything - the food, the service, the ambiance was what we had hoped for. I had the Orecchiette, delicious and better than expected. I thought it would be all pasta and just a touch of lobster. However, there was more than enough lobster and just the right amount of crisp tender asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes. My husband had the fish Oscar. The Mahi was perfectly cooked and with the amount of lump crab that topped it off with the yummy Hollandaise sauce was incredible. We were touched that they acknowledged our anniversary by serving us a beautifully presented Tiramisu for dessert. We look forward to going back to try some other menu items."

  • "Expected much more from a restaurant ranked number one in the region by trip advisor. Food was ok not exceptional. Poor choices of wines by the glass, the one I ordered was almost not drinkable. Good salads. Seafood pasta recommended by the server was not notanle"

  • "Every review I read said "Go here for the Bucatini"; "You HAVE to try the Bucatini". Got there...wanted to try it...they have REMOVED it from the menu. What? Well...they ended up doing it for me anyway...so they have to get points for that...and it WAS fantastic! But...when are restaurants going to learn that YOU DON'T CHANGE A GOOD THING...ESPECIALLY A SIGNATURE DISH. They had a signature drink they also weren't doing any longer...the Southern Smoke. I asked them to do it for me...and it was one of the very best drinks I've had in a long, long time. I just don't get it. This restaurant won't be around for years longer. Their cheesybread is excellent...among the best I've ever had. Wonder if they're planning on removing that as well?"

  • "Good service overall however the food was fair at best. Bacon wrap dates for good however the calamari and mahi mahi were disappointing."

  • "Chose this place because of the Miami Spice experience, what a disappointment. The menu listed on the web site was not offered once onsite, of the choices chicken felt rubbery, vegetables tasteless. Greek salad was more cheese and huge chunks of tomato that needed to be cut several times just to eat. They include the tip on the bill automatically, probably feel that if left up to the client, they would receive less. Parking is also added to the bill according to them so that it is a convenience, then they base their tip percentage on that parking charge also. What is up with THAT. Have been to many restaurants on the Miami Spice program, have to say that this has been the worst, not worth the drive. Ladies beware of the glass staircase."

  • "Too noisy,(loud music) for a relaxed dinner, unless one has dinner on the balcony, which unfortunately the hostess failed to offer."

  • "too expensive for what it is...trying to be too much. not south beach, can not charge south beach prices..."

  • "On the plus side, the food was very good and the waiter, Eric, was great. All of the staff were pleasant and professional. On the minus side: Very noisy, especially the music (although this may have been because there was a private party in the next room). The view can only be appreciated if you dine outside on the patio. I didn't like the narrow steep ramp you have to navigate to drive to the lobby, followed by the staircase to actually get into the restaurant. The 18% tip is included (and the waiter more than deserved it); however, the restaurant adds everything -- food, wine, $5 parking charge, and tax, and then the tip !"

  • "Alba Restaurant is a great find. We chose it based on their Miami Spice offering, but will be returning soon for the regular menu. The staff was INCREDIBLY nice, attentive & warm. The Miami Spice menu had some changes to it, but the waiter explained every single one (& they did provide comparable replacements to the menu). They have a bottomless wine/ sangria offer which was great! The meatball appetizer looks like a meal on its own. We had the sun-dried tomato penne and the chicken maltese off the Spice menu. The chicken was a little harder than I would have liked, but the spinach & sauce made up for it. Their penne had a bolognese which tasted like it had been simmering all day to perfection. Get the banana bread pudding for dessert!"

  • "Alba is a gem! From start to finish, there was not one thing missing. The wait staff, in particular our waiter, Sean, was outstanding, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was superior on all accounts. We ordered a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts to give the restaurant a fair judgement call. Not one dish disappointed and all exceeded what you might expect. By far, the portions were generous, beautifully appointed and delicious. The ambiance is so current & inviting overlooking the ocean. Alba is on our repeat list and if you haven't gotten there yet, be sure to. You will be treated to 5 star service and food. Cheers to Chef Ralph and his team."

  • "Very, very loud music made conversation difficult. Great beach/ocean view. Good food. Overly enthusiastic waiter confused us with description of specials, menu and possible combinations. Confusion extended back to him as final bill contained extra item and was itemized in a way that made it difficult to correlate to fixed-price combo's ordered by two of a party of four. Restaurant occupies space in Sunny Isles Beach hotel and offers stunning views. Think of it as a South Beach property moved some miles North."

  • "We were seated immediatley and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The waiter was very helpful and attentive. The food was amazing and the owner/ Chef Ralph Pagano himself came out and went table to table greeting everyone. I love this place!"

  • "The view was amazing, I would sit on the deck overlooking the ocean. Multiple seating arrangements, couches and nooks are cozy . The food was adequate, not the best Italian food, but when coupled with the atmosphere you will be fine. Pasta dishes seemed to be better. The bread w the cheese dip is the best thing that was offered. And you must play the Vinny D game, that is delightful. Overall, it makes for a fun evening. Ralph the chef comes around and is engaging. If you are looking for a pleasant evening, not too expensive, this is the place."

  • "Good food and service, Watch the bill as they charge the parking @ $5 taxing the parking fee ( even so outside the restaurant it was a flat $5) + the "Automatic " 18% tip was added to the parking fee as well !!!!!! If you don’t mind smoker's and a noisy music chose an outside table"

  • "Overall a great place for on the beach dining. Nice atmosphere but it was a little loud for a romantic date but still really enjoyed the entire experience. They give you a chance to win your meal at the end with a small lottery. 1 in 100 chance to win, pretty cool."

  • "Our first dinner choice for my b-day was Fish Fish in North Miami but they were closed for the Fourth of July. I found ALBA on OpenTable and read their reviews which were pretty good overall. Upon arriving, my wfie and I noticed that place was little empty with just a few people having dinner on the terrace. Our researvation was for 7:00pm so I assume that was pretty early for this place. Anyway, our waiter was very attentive and made sure we were aware of the all specials of the evening. Everything from the appetitizers, main course and dessert was very tasty and well prepared. The tiramesu was the BOMB! The oceanview was nice and ambience relaxing. I had a good time celebrating my 41st b-day that this establishment."
