  • "We had a dinner reservation and were delayed by a rainstorm. They were waiting for us and we had a nice table by the window. While my husband parked the car, I ordered for him...since we were now in a hurry, no chips, guacamole or pre-dinner drinks. He had chicken suisa, which was not very good - too much chunky chicken in a dry tortilla. The suisa sauce was good, but the meal was listless because the enchilada was so full and dry. I had the true cod taco which was good. Beans and rice were delicious. Service was very attentive and fast. The menu is interesting and we will go back to try other entrees and specialty drinks. Hip and noisy atmosphere. Patio looks inviting. A good addition to SLC's downtown dining scene."

  • "Lived everything about this restaurant from the table side guacamole to the awesome chicken enchiladas. The shrimp cerviche with orange sauce was delicious as well. Service was awesome as was the atmosphere. Loved everything about this restaurant and would highly recommend to anyone looking for great southwestern good in Salt lake. Yum! Will go back again. "

  • "WOW!!! A MUST for anyone that appreciates good food of any kind much less Mexican. Everything from traditional to fancy options. Incredibly fresh and superb. We eat out often at what are considered all the local fine restaurants and I'm here to tell you Alamexo is as good or better than any of them. I had their halibut and it was by far the best I've had in this state - EVER! Highly - highly recommend you give it a try. I drove by several times and never really took it seriously due to what appeared to be a questionable location. Don't make the same mistake. Almost failed to mention the service was every bit as good as the food. From the server to the accommodating kitchen. "

  • "This is the third time I've been to this restaurant in a relatively short time, which is a testament to the fact that I really like it. Mainly, the food is very unusual in a really good way and nicely presented, so it feels like something special. This is a good thing because it's rather expensive. This isn't the place for the standard combo enchilada dinner. The service is a bit informal, but it's attentive and accessible, and the place is pleasant. There's a big array of different tequilas and special margaritas for people who like those, but no draft beer."

  • "This was my second time at this restaurant, and I think the food is very very good. The decor and atmosphere are nice, but not particularly elegant, and at least for Salt Lake City the prices are a bit high. They feature fancy margaritas which I personally don't like at all, but a small list of bottled beers that suited me. Draft beer would be nice. I'm not sure if I'd go back because it's too expensive to be a regular stop but not quite nice enough to be special."

There was some trouble with a dish being too spicy when our server said it had no spice, however they corrected it immediately with a new dish. I will definitely be going here again! "

Very good, it was a 2014 Salt Lake Magazine winner for best new restaurant and best Mexican spot and it was really good. It is 1/2 block down from the SLC Marriott on State St."

  • "After reading about Alamexo in Salt Lake Magazine, we were awaiting the right occasion to try the restaurant. We took a risk taking our two children (9 year old twins) not knowing exactly how spicy or "kid friendly" the food would be. Our kids are very adventurous, so the worry was small. Well, after seeing my twins devour a batch of fresh guacamole and then proceed to consume duck tacos, chicken tacos, and tres leches cake, our concerns were muted. The place is awesome. Anyone who loves good Mexican-style food with a bit of flare will love Alamexo. And, if you go, do try the Vida Rita for your beverage--truly enjoyable. Great place."

  • "My wife and I enjoy looking for good food. When we saw Alamexo won salt lake city's 2014 best Mexican restaurant we booked our table for the next weekend. Location is amazing but the food was way over-priced and nothing special. I'm pretty sure the suiza enchiladas had a caned green Chili's sauce. For two of us to eat this unoriginal food cost $60 (without any drinks). I'm okay paying that much if the food is something we enjoy, but not for this meal. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Totally disappointing best describes our experience at Alamexo."

  • "I happened to pick up SL Mag which said this Alemexo is a must try restaurant. My wife and I are always game to try new places. This restaurant is fit for any foodie. We started off with guac made tableside (which was a tough choice since the ceviche looked amazing) then I had the beef short enchiladas. They were amazing. I wish the salsa was better. It was missing something special. The only issue we had was because of the time of day we went the sun was shining right in my wife's eyes. I had to switch seats with her and the table next to us had to move. It can easily be solved with some shades! I recommend this place and I have told a lot of our friends about this unknown restaurant. Derrick"

Had the guacamole made tableside... was a little bland...probably should have asked her to add more jalapeno and cilantro...asked for some lemon wedges to perk it up. Food presentation was nice and tasty, but far from the best Mexican we've experienced. While pleasant, would probably not go again. And, glad we didn't have my Mexican husband with us!"
