This was not my first visit to Al Di La, and it most certainly will not be my last. The food my not be the fanciest, nor the most creative, everything is done well and with quality ingredients. From the olive oil on the tables to the aged balsamic on the bruschetta salad, no expense has been spared in picking great tasting food.

There was a nice sidewalk setup for outdoor dining. I had the scallops which were seared to perfection. Most places turn the outsides to rubber but these were tender and spiced just right. My wife had the salad with shrimp and raved about it. Crisp lettuce, tasty shrimp and paper thin cheese garnish.

We always visit Al Di La when we are in town. Food is always excellent and pretty authentic to what one would get in Northern Italy. There's not a lot that changes on the menu from season to season, but as a result, the perfection of the dishes is achieved. Homemade pastas are delicious--the pasta Bolognese is perfection. The rich, duck confit tagliatelle with mushroom--mouthwatering! My husband is a huge fan of tiramisu, and Al Di La's version is classic. Service is professional and efficient. All in all, a great choice when one is in the mood for Northern Italian cuisine.

Very good food and the service is great! The only downside is it can be very difficult to find parking - especially on the weekends. Be sure to get there a little earlier than your reservation to allow time to find parking.

My husband and I took another couple to Al Di La for dinner, it's near our home and we have been regular patrons for years. We were seated at our table at about 8:15-8:20. Had appetizers an entree and a nice bottle of wine with our meal. At 9:15 we were finishing our bottle of wine and chatting, after spending $300 or so, when the staff began cleaning up, we had the sense they were wanting us to hurry up and leave. We asked if we were the only people left (you cannot see into the adjoining bar room), we were told yes we were in an abrupt tone. We offered to finish our wine on the terrace outside and were told they had already stacked the chairs, we went out anyway and continued to be rushed. Again this was at 9:15.

our server, Bree, was outstanding. She had great patience, terrific attitude, and very knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list. Highly recommend Al Di La as a must visit restaurant and I feel that those lucky enough to have Bree serve them will have a memorable occasion. Our group enjoyed all the selections, from the carpaccio, to the perfectly braised short ribs paired with the Barolo. Mmmm, great memories!

I made reservations via Opentable, but still had to wait 40 minutes to get a table. I might have overlooked the wait had the hostess been more amicable. In contrast, the waitress was very pleasant as well as the bartenders. The food was wonderful. I'd still go back to eat there.

I have eaten at Al Di La numerous times over the years and it is always delicious. I have never once been disappointed. While everything I have eaten there has been tasty, my friends and I often have a friendly debate over which is our favorite...the light as air gnocchi or the creamy asparagus risotto. If you like good Italian food and want authenticity - not the Olive Garden variety Italian - then go to Al Di La. You WILL NOT be disappointed!

Made the mistake of going during restaurant week, they would not just plate a piece of their fish and mashed potatoes for my daughter. They just couldn't do that without putting the other ingredients under the fish.....HOW stupid is that? Not like the fish was cooked in the sauce. Would have saved them the time and effort of putting it on the plate... She got plain pasta, that was a chore to plate also.

Overall, I liked Al Di La, but with mixed reviews. It was restaurant week so the menu was limited and I was disappointed with the lack of more Italian type fare; however, the two dishes I ordered, Caprese salad and baked eggplant, were excellent. the Tiramisu dessert was somewhat disappointing as it was smothered with nuts. The retro 50's décor was fun with kitchy light fixtures and wall paper. It was bustling and our waiter was overworked and harried, but the service was excellent in spite of it. My biggest complaint was the noise level. My friend and I had to scream over the noise the whole night which put a damper on the evening and overall restaurant experience. Plus the air conditioner wasn't working well and it was hot and stuffy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Al Di La. I recommend requesting one of the banquettes inside - very comfy and away from foot traffic. The tomato basil soup was amazing and I highly recommend it. Our pasta meals were large, filling, and cooked perfectly. If I can recommend one thing over all others -- try the gnocchi!!! It is better than any gnocchi I have had in other restaurants or in Italy itself! It melts in your mouth and is just so good. I do not eat meat (it comes with shrimp) and they can make it without the shrimp. The tiramisu dessert is also good, although served in a martini glass more like scoops of ice cream than your typical layered rectangle. I would still recommend it although I do prefer other restaurant's tiramisu.

I was really happy with my first trip to Al Di La. It's such a cute place, and the menu looked really yummy. Inside it's very nice and modern with an intimate feel. The food was all really good and fresh ingredients, but what really stood out was the service. We had a wonderful server who made recommendations, and joked along with us in a professional way. Since I had a couple gifts to open, she gave a us a couple minutes without interruption when we sat down to open my gifts without being pressured to order, which was really considerate. We were not rushed, but never had to wait for anything. Overall a really nice experience.

Ate the Duck pasta 3 weeks prior and it was the most awesome garlicky delicious dish ever. Told all my friends about it...went with them...not the same :( it was decent but not as mouth watering as it was the few weeks before...I didn't taste any garlic this time...my friend commented on how it was dry...I agreed...and proceeded to drizzle some Olive oil on it...it was better but was missing that garlic oil from the dish prior. All in all good but not as great as before. But we had a great time!

We had never been to this restaurant, but decided to go as part of Charleston restaurant week. Why did we wait so long to go? The food was excellent, I had the gnocchi and my husband had a fish special. Waiter was efficient and steered us in the right direction on things to order. I had read mixed reviews about this place previously, but they must not have been to the same restaurant that we were!

We have eaten there since it first opened. The interior has changed and it looks very chic. The restaurant has changed hands a few times and previously we have enjoyed our food, we love Italian food seasoned with fresh herbs and home made pastas. Now, the food is not as good as it use to be. The lemon gelato was so bland that I managed to eat 2 bites, my pasta dish was very tasteless. My husband had the fish and he complained that it was bland and the portion was way too small. In fact he was the one that wanted to write the review, which he never does.

We went to Al di La for restaurant week, we have been wanting to try it for a while. It was terrific, everything we had was delicious. I had beef carpaccio and fettucine bolognese with lemon gelato for dessert. The server was spazzing out a little though, he kept coming back and telling us the special, and had to ask our order again because "he forgot". I understand it's Restaurant Week, but he needed to pull it together. I would recommend.

I frequent Al Di La and never have less than a stellar experience. Delicious food: try the beef carpaccio, mussel app, or the nighly crudo app special. For main course, duck confit with house made pasta or the pork chop are my go-to choices, but anytime I stray, it's always a hit. Laid back, unpretentious but attentive staff. Ask for Nips.

I took them up on a LivingSocial offer. Food was great. We enjoy tapas, so we ordered two apps and two primis. The beef carpaccio was lemony and bright. A stuffed fig was succulent and a nice change of pace. The tagliatelle and duck confit was not heavy with sauce, and the tonnarelli with housemade sausage and fava beans showed off some charcuterie prowess. If we had room, we would have gone for a wood-roasted chicken dish, which was more interesting than the obligatory offering. Wines by the glass paired nicely. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. Valet parking was nice. The meal would have been worth it without the coupon. For tourists wondering if there's any reason to leave the peninsula, there is.

I’ve wanted to go to Al Di La for years and was excited to see what all of the hype was about. Unfortunately, I wasn’t that impressed. The ambience was perfect for a romantic evening with my man and I was pleased with our table. However, our server took forever and wasn’t very knowledgeable about the menu. He was nice, but it was clear he didn’t want to be there. I got the gnocchi which was okay, but found it strange that they cut up my shrimp in small pieces. The large portion was enough food for 2 people. My boyfriend had the pork chop, which looked amazing. We had talked about getting dessert, but our server disappeared (yet again) and took so long I wondered if he thought we had already paid him. Needless to say, we didn’t get dessert.
