It's a small place, so you'll need to make a reservation, and please limit your party to about 6. This one particular time a very annoying group of about 12 promish-looking high schoolers held everything up so that the restaurant could make room for them at the cost of the other people waiting. Once I got in though, everything was perfect. The noise was noticeable (mostly the prom group) but manageable. The bread was amazing, the appetizers were delicious, and I nearly melted into my seat with my entree. Everything tasted as if it came from a native Italian kitchen, which it does. I'm doing it again. You should definitely give it a shot.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really love this restaurantWe really love this restaurant and have eaten here multiple times. It is just great, authentic Italian fare - not too fancy, not too expensive but really, really good. Service is also excellent - very friendly and efficient which means we are neither waiting around but the meal is alsways paced perfectly unlike many places where the entrees arrive before the appetizers are done. The chicken soup could be a meal by itself and all of the entrees have been consistently excellent. We had a 6:30 reservation and still had to wait, which while we were annoyed, shows just how popular this restaurant is! There was rarely an empty table. Food was awesome, chicken Milanese, swordfish and veal parm was on our menu that night. I had to stop myself from cleaning my plate, the food was so good! The tables were all so close together that I had to keep moving so people could get by. It was also very loud, my dad said he had trouble concentrating on the menu because it was so loud!
They don't have dessert, but that just gives you a chance to experience a North End Bakery.
All in all, a very good experience. Al Dente was high on the list...and almost sounded too good to be true - great food and fantastic service. My small group of 3 (2 colleagues and I) arrived for dinner with high expectations. Al Dente surpassed them all. Food was fantastic. Our server, Angela, was terrific. Not only attentive, but charming, warm, and welcoming. We made a friend that night...and not in the annoying TGIFridays server kind of way. Not fun. Once inside the food, decor and vibe of the place was fantastic. Wait staff extremely polite and efficient given the size of the crowd. Also ordered a mid level bottle (Berringer) of Cabernet waiter arrived at table with a much lower grade cab and proceeded to open and pour it. When asked he said " this is our Cabernet were out of the other one or I can get you a J Lohr for a little more".
