A word from Al Bustan
Savory Lebanese cuisine served in a sophisticated atmosphere that captures the essence of Beirut's past as the Paris of the Middle East

My colleague and I were in the
city for business and wanted something a little different. Read the reviews which seemed positive. Walked in to see several large groups of bankers enjoying the food. Met Alias the owner / executive chef and asked him to take care of us. He was terrific and the food was even better. Highly recommend."

We had the prix fixe luncheon
which is such a great deal......5 delicious starters, choice of entree, and great desserts. The food is really superb....I had the Shish Taouk and it was so tender, moist and well-seasoned. The starters were excellent and the desserts, too. One of my favorite places for lunch as its so quiet, and fun for dinner."

We went to Al Bustan for a special
occasion dinner and were disappointed in the food which was just uninteresting. We expected exciting flavors and exotic combinations, and what we got was just boring and not too good, not to mention overpriced. There are, however, a number of vegetarian selections. The service was fine. The restaurant is gorgeous and beautifully appointed which raised our expectations for a terrific meal, but, alas, we were disapponted."

Excellent value for $19 lunch
special, however, $4 for a cup of coffee (not included with lunch) is overpriced."

This is not a big complaint but
here it is. We went for Valentine's day, having no idea that there was an obligatory 75/pp prix fixe going on. The food was fine for what it was but could have been better, perhaps with more choices. The price is good for those who like alcohol; that didn't apply to us. We might still go another time for regular prices but I'm a little bummed about not having been informed ahead of time that the prix fixe was "no choice.""

A little bit more expensive than
your average lebanese food restaurants"

We had only dairy items, all
delicious. From a cheese sembusac, to labne, falafel, and salads, all was fresh and tasty. NOTE: with a 1.5Hr notice they accommodated our 23 people group! That was amazing!"

Al Bustan is a wonderful Middle
Eastern restaurant in the East 50s, just off of 2nd Avenue. It goes a bit unnoticed since it's off the avenue, but it's a gem of a place that's worth finding. The food is authentic and delicious, the atmosphere is elegant and the service is attentive but not overbearing. I have eaten here several times now and always walk away thinking that I'll never be able to eat again. There's a great variety of dishes and I just can't seem restrain myself from trying a little of everything."

I have been enjoying Lebanese food
for years and am qualified to say that the Kibbeh Nayeh was just as good as my mother in law's, which is quite a complement. Staff was very attentive and happily brought out some spices for the table to enhance our dishes. Will go back soon."

Best Lebanese cuisine in NY. The
place is nice and the service was great. Loved it!"
Dined on 12/31/2013
Food was wonderful; the kind of
place you want to go with a group too so you can try everything... but be careful if they have an event in the lounge downstairs... noise was over the top!"
Dined on 12/20/2013
Wonderful spot for NYE. Great
atmosphere, food and ambiance. Servers we extremely inattentive; this may be because gratuity was already included in the prefix menu. I went hours without a refill for my water and had to get out of my seat several times to flag down a server i.e. wine refill etc. This was very off putting as the bill was over $400 for just two people. Also, hookah was advertised but they only had a few pipes so most guests couldn't get one. Belly dancer was advertised as well but didn't come out until nearly 1AM and only lasted a short while. There was only one dancer (intermediate skill) and no live instrumentation."

The food is excellent and the
ambiance is very relaxing. Would recommend to everyone!"

Weird dishes--too specialized to,
I guess a diet of the country of origin---??"
Dined on 12/22/2013
Atmosphere was great, very
relaxing. We got stuck in traffic and they held the reservation. Food was terrific. Highly recommend the lamb with yogurt sauce. Prices are reasonable. Staff very friendly. Would return to eat again. Would highly recommend!"
Dined on 12/21/2013
The food was good, but the service
not so much. We had to wait for 25 minutes to get water. and it seemed we did not have just one server dedicated to the table. whoever was passing by was taking our order or filling our water cups."
Dined on 12/19/2013
We were recently in NYC and my
Lebanese husband wanted some authentic Lebanese food. Al Bustan surpassed all of our expectations! Food and service were excellent. We felt like we were dining at one of the best Lebanese restaurants back home."

This is a great place to catch up
with friends. The decor is refined and sleek but to the point of stuffiness. There is an open bar area downstairs that is used for private parties and it can get quite loud for diners upstairs, but it is not a huge problem. You get a lot of food. Some dishes may not seem like a lot, but they are quite filling. Other dishes seem like double portions. The food was cooked very well. My girlfriend, who does not like Lebanese food, enjoyed her dish. My only complaint, and minor at that, is that the yogurt sauce is watery and not very original. Convenient location from the 6 or the E. I would come back."

we always enjoy dining at Al
Bustan. The middle-eastern food is excellent and the restaurant, elegantly appointed, is quiet enough to enjoy not just the food, but good conversation."

Was welcomed by name upon entering
front door. Fabulous Authentic Lebanese food. Attentive service with extremely prompt food from kitchen. Cannot wait to dine with them again. Already recommended to colleagues today."

This is a restaurant that I have
been to many times, and the food is always great, one of my favorite dishes is Falafel, I have tried Falfel at many restaurants and carts all over NY and Al Bustan hands down is the best, and everything they serve is very high quality, try their Arabic tea, it's really good if you are a tea drinker."
Dined on 11/24/2013
Having Lebanese family and growing
up eating home cooked Lebanese food, I'm very picky. This place couldn't have been more authentic unless my grandma Eva was in kitchen. I went with two Lebanese girlfriends and they ordered in Arabic from the waiters. Everything was exactly what we wanted and even had the warm grape leaves with meat that we never see at other middle eastern/Lebanese restaurants. I absolutely plan on going back."

The food was outstanding,
especially the Baba Gannoush and Fattoush salad. I love that the menu will delight all - from carnivores to vegans. Very nice atmosphere, great for personal or business. Service was great. Will definitely make this one of my regular spots."

Overpriced 4 tiny and I mean tiny
lamp chops with rice and vegetables for $38. Slow service- The dessert was better than both dishes and sides."
Dined on 11/2/2013
We love Lebanese food, but
especially the amazing, celebratory approach they seem to have to the meal experience; this place doesn't have that. The food was quite good (we picked our own mezes) and the Lebanese rose' was excellent, but the service was poor and inattentive and the atmosphere was absent. I expect the staff at any restaurant, but especially Lebanese, to take ownership of the meal experience; we never figured out which person was really our waiter, the food was brought to the table by busboys, and we had to hail people to order more wine. We'll look for a different place next time we're looking for Lebanese food."

we came to New York and looked
online for a middle eastern resturant. we booked this last minute and were pleasantly surprised. The food was great, so was the atmosphere and service was very friendly. We felt like we were treated like family. I would go back."
Dined on 10/19/2013
Good place to taste lebanese food
at fair price in a quiet restaurant."
Dined on 10/19/2013
An expensive and disappointing
evening. Though we asked for recommendations, the food by and large was mediocre. A few items such as hummus with lamb and lamb with pomegranate sauce were good, but the majority were so-so. Specifically, the mixed grill was over cooked and dry, dandelions sauteed in oil were overwhelmingly oily, dumplings stuffed with feta were all dumpling, barely warm. Accompaniments were uninspired - plain vegetables, dry pita. Restaurant did not have three out of six bottles of white Lebanese wine on the list - the one recommended was clearly the also-ran. I had specifically asked not to be seated by a serving area and that is where we were seated - why? I join the others online who say - go somewhere else."

My friend and I had a lunch
special which included an assortment of appetizers, meat and veggies. They all tasted wonderful and our waiter was friendly. I have dined at this restaurant in the past and I will do so again."
Dined on 10/8/2013
Selection of appetizers makes for
a great shared dinner, but do not miss the lamb tartare - truly exceptional!"

Very enjoyable evening with a
Argentina group. Great meze and kebabs. Good drinks. Good service in a really nice, comfortable setting. Looking forward to going back soon."

Went with a friend on a Monday
night. it was super quiet, but the servers are attentive and helpful. food was really good. room and ambience are beautiful. it could be a fun place if it's busy."
Dined on 9/9/2013
Their online menu showed express
lunch choices. We went there specifically for this. The waiter gave us a dinner menus. When I asked for the lunch menu we were given only the fixed price chef sampler which was $20 per person. We spent more and ate richer food than we came for. It tasted good, but it really ... Ticked me off!"
Dined on 8/14/2013
This was truely an outstanding
place. The atmosphere was very humble and fancy! The tables are ordered, the staff is very polite and helpful, the food was even better than home! I had my engagement dinner here and if I ever needed a special place to go to it would be this one for sure. The staff helped me design a perfect package to satisfy everyone's taste and in the end the prices were great! I did not expect this low of a price from a fancy place like this."
Dined on 8/18/2013
Few points i like to mentiond 1.
Stuff don't know the min eticate to check whwther the food is ok or not 2. Served cold food 3. Didn't understand what we are looking for and messed with the order 4. Worse compare to all other resturants and its a nightmare"

One on my dear friends from
Lebanon came into NYC and she raved about the Authentic Nature of the Food so much so she baegan telling stories of her Grandmothers Cooking. Only a Great Table of Food could have created that Dialogue..."
Dined on 7/28/2013
Overall good but I found it yo be
overpriced since the portions are small, especially starters. Dessert was too cold but service was friendly and helpful. If you never had Libanese it is worth a try, if you want something comparable try Persian Ravagh Grill at less costs and perfect quality."
Dined on 6/27/2013
The resturant is well put
together. I have been there several times and found the food and the service to be outstanding. The servers are willing to explain the menu and help with wine selection etc."
Dined on 6/25/2013
Food was as close to homemade
Lebanese food as you can find. It was like my grandmother was in the kitchen."
