a.kitchenGreat find, worth finding again! This cozy little place tucked into a low-ceilinged space at 18th and Walnut was a delight. My wife and I enjoyed two yummy meals. I have restrictions on my diet and the staff was very accommodating. The menu was not broad, but the food was so tasty. Staff was very friendly and warm. We dined inside and just thoroughly enjoyed omlettes biscuits and muffins. Go there. You will come back again!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMa.kitchenTHE.kitchen! wish mine wasGreat early or late, very easy bar and staff, one thinks it's going to be snooty but it's not, the dining room is very connected to the street but still warm. Be right on the walk and seen or nestled in the cafe, great views of the grande mansion. The kitchen bar is fun and a reason alone to see things cooked in sight, they must be right! Decor is modern and crisp with warmth of wood accents. Tables are close enough to promote connection but distant enough to remain silent. They can collect their tables to form a large one in a smart banquette setup that doesn't overtake the restaurant if a large group appears. I felt special here. The meals are nicely presented, and not huge American portions, so refreshing. Pleasant, no ego staff.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMYummI loved the service food and ambiance. The servers was attentive if one server was busy another would jump right in. The food was delish. The mushroom tart was amazing! The ambiance was wonderful. It was a slightly chilly night but we had great seats inside the resturant near the open doors. We were able to enjoy the fresh air and hustle and bustle of rittenhouse while warm inside romantic ambience of a.kitchen. I highly recommend this place.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe good and the middlingSome great food and some other that had potential but was overcooked. 2 out of three were fantastic.. Definitely try the octopus salad and the skirt steak5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great; this wasThe food was great; this was a perfect "after the Broad Street Run" recovery spot.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHad lunch at AKA Kitchen beforeHad lunch at AKA Kitchen before going to the Barnes Foundation. Both very enjoyable and the food, wine and atmosphere at this restaurant were great. Would defiantly go back.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMwarm friendly greetings atwarm friendly greetings at the door. Service that anticipated our needs yet was never formal or arch, they simply wanted to provide us with a memorable evening. the food was superb! unexpected & delicious pairings - well priced for the value. The menu was focused yet afforded a tempting range of options. I would return regularly if I live in the area. More impressive, it only improves & enhances the dining experience from it's inception years ago. Congratulations FORK!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe like a.kitchen every timeWe like a.kitchen every time we go but this past visit was particularly good. Try the new octopus menu item, very tasty. Tim always recommends a great bottle of wine to pair with your food choices. One of our Philadelphia favorites and always trustworthy to impress out-of-town guests.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner was such a welcomeDinner was such a welcome experience that we had to come back for brunch. Service was outstanding.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMhad a fantastic first visithad a fantastic first visit to a-kitchen! the menu is very unique with semi-small plates great for sharing. draft list was so-so, but the scotch/whiskey selection was a home-run. the drink list was fantastic, too.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was awesome! Brunch wasIt was awesome! Brunch was great! Friendly staff!!!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA surprise for those "manly" types.Food was TERRIFIC! Portions were a perfect size in order to be able to eat all courses and not feel like you are going to explode. Wine list is hard to beat. I took some friends who are used to the typical steak houses and for the first 30 min got my "chops busted" due to the non "manly" menu. They were absolutely raving about the place by the end of the night. Great atmosphere great drinks - just great.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBe sure to arrive right atBe sure to arrive right at the time of your reservation, as the bar area is very small and it seems to be an attraction. We were about 15 minutes early and found we were in the way of guests and the staff. That said, there were a number of folks there for the wine list. They do offer dining outdoors, which would have been nice on a warmer evening.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMreasonable amount of choicesreasonable amount of choices for a vegetarian; but one "main-course" veg entree would be nice.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWent with coworkers for lunch.Went with coworkers for lunch. The food is very creative and there is something for everyone. Only problem is that portions are small and if you're looking for an inexpensive meal that will fill you up, this isn't the place. I would recommend going, just don't bring a large appetite if you aren't willing to drop a few $'s.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food choice was greatThe food choice was great and delicious. It was a nice ambiance, though the music was a tad bit loud for lunch meeting discussions. The hostess and servers were all very attentive and pleasant. Would definitely visit them again.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful table by the windowWonderful table by the window provided the perfect people watching view for a Sunday brunch. Tthe eggs benedict were done to perfection, servicer was attentive & personable.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, but small portionsThe food is great. The beets were offered as a side veg but I had as an app and they were awesome. The pork ragu pasta was yummy and both hearty and delicate at the same time. It isn't a place to go, however, if you are starving. All dishes are small, so order a few and graze at your leisure. The service was perfect.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food... very small portionsGreat food... very small portions for the price though. There are other places around Rittenhouse Square that I would go to first - Parc, Alma de Cuba, Devon Seafood3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic anniversary experienceThis was our wedding anniversary dinner and they made us feel really special by being greeted with cava upon our arrival. We had also asked for some special accommodations with the dessert due to lactose issues but in fact their menu was pretty good as it was. We really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. We will be back!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe liked a.kitchen and wouldWe liked a.kitchen and would return. The flavors were vivid, all ingredients were impeccable and most of the flavors were to our liking. If we were to be able make any improvements it would have been to have a bit more variety on the menu. Note that the restaurant is small and you are relatively close to your neighbors and can hear their conversations.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique, creative and tantalizingDining at a.kitchen unleashes a unique sensory, if not sensual, experience: the deconstruction of the flavors in the small plates filled with creative and harmonious ingredients reaches one of the highest points of gustative experiences once you let them all explode on your palate. The sommelier advises on rarely found extraordinary vintages for exceptional pairings. Exploring unknown combinations with perfect execution, the chef and the sommelier indeed deserve compliments!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat findNice small place with an open kitchen. Good, creative food and eclectic wine list.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant on all counts.a.kitchen is one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia and environs. After you've savored the sweetbreads, try the lemon tart a leading candidate for the best dessert of 2013.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA+ kitchenI love this place. The food is always excellent and interesting. Really interesting wines. Great people behind the bar, as well serving tables. And it always feels very comfortable.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have come here for dinnerWe have come here for dinner and heard great things about brunch. Our food was fantastic. I was a biy dissapointed by the Bloody Mary cocktail - no olive or pickle. This would have made the experience perfect3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday brunch was very good.Sunday brunch was very good. Great service, superb coffee and a nice meal. This is a small but beautiful restaurant.2/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is somewhat unusualThe food is somewhat unusual but tasty. Good wine. Servers were attentive and courteous. Way too loud music. We sat at the counter in the corner away from the speakers. Overall it was enjoyable and I would go back but not often.1/25/2013 12:00:00 AMHits the mark each timea.kitchen has delighted my taste buds, expanded my wine repertoire, and entertained me with amazing food, super service and an energetic atmosphere. This time we has mushroom tart, mushroom risotto, salsify with salt cod, braised rabbit, and more, each with a delightful combination of tastes complemented by wines that I really would not consider if not recommended by our capable server. Highly recommend.1/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfully affordable fineWonderfully affordable fine dining. An intimate space with the kitchen in full view, tastefully decorated. Blue crab salad was a highlight, but everything we had was intriguing and delicious.1/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good but the small platesVery good but the small plates add up and it can be quite pricy. Expect to spend 150 plus a couple with drinks.12/1/2012 12:00:00 AM
