  • "The atmosphere of this new restaurant is awesome. The service was wonderful!!! Our waiter was very attentive and personable. The appetizers were moderate, expensive and portions were small. We had the cheese tray with two cheeses and sausage. The sausage was sliced so thin that there was no taste. My husband had the halibut which he enjoyed and I had the short ribs which were excellent. Both of us had the grilled broccoli which was very good. For dessert we tried the chocolate gelato which was more like a thick soup. Since we did not eat this after we tried it, the waiter took it off our bill. The wine list was large but the prices were way overpriced. We enjoyed this new restaurant and will probably return and try the lunch menu. "

  • "My wife found AK thru OpenTable. I had not heard of it and I am always on the look out for new restaurants in the area. The place is beautiful, they did a great job. We started with Oysters and they were great. I had the Short Rib and my wife had a pasta dish and they were both very good."

  • "In a sleepy little town like Franklin, I never expected to find such a wonderful restaurant. From the decor to the service and of course - the food - everything about this place was top notch! We will be back for sure!"

  • "Not much reason to head to downtown Franktown until now. AK is a wonderful addition to the local dining scene. Somehow they turned an old karate studio and/or pizza place into a beautiful restaurant with a bar area, seating area, wonderful fireplace area and some other little nooks and crannies where you can sit on high stools, but not be at the actual bar. The menu is interesting, kind of limited, but the place is relatively small so you wouldn't expect a giant menu. We had beet salad and oysters for apps; short ribs and pasta Bolognese, wine, dessert, coffee. Service, food, presentation, ambience -- everything was first rate. I was very pleased to see that the place was crowded. Hope the community supports AK."

  • "AK Bistro stands out in a town filled with good, but predictable neighborhood restaurants. The interior is attractive and comfortable.. The service is attentive and professional. The menu is limited, but what they do, they do well. The restaurant faces two big challenges: lack of parking and poor location. They've got to get the word out to the local foodies that they exist, because no one goes to downtown Franklin for a fine dining experience."

  • "I absolutely adore this place. The cocktails are terrific and the ambience is a welcome and rare addition to the suburbs. I specifically really liked the cheese plate and the burger is terrific. I'm hoping that someday they might consider adding a tasting menu with something like a soup, foie gras, shrimp, duck, and cheese plate. Easily my new favorite in the area."

  • "Love this restaurant and so happy to have something like this in Franklin. Food was delicious...service was a little slow at the beginning as they were down a server but once we mentioned something, we had top notch service. Excellent drinks at the bar - and highly recommend as well for take out!!!"

  • "Just OK. There for a business lunch. Very slow. Food just OK, my chicken sandwich was burnt. Great fries though."

  • "We went on Sunday evening, so it was very quiet and perfect for a romantic dinner (in our case our 18th anniversary). Waitstaff was pleasant and service was good. Fish was fresh and perfectly cooked."

  • "Overall the food was good. The only downfall was my request for dressing on the side wasn't put through and the salad was very overdressed. I think overall the staff has improved since they first opened. Thanks!"

  • "First time dining at AK. My husband and I loved it! Unique menu, changes frequently. Cocktails were delicious. Wait staff was very friendly. Loved the ambience, very romantic."

  • "Our first time here. Certainly won't be our last. A fantastic spot that leaves you wondering why Franklin hasn't seen a restaurant like this sooner. Great food, fantastic service. Intimate setting. Took us a few tries to get a reservation at the time we wanted, but when we finally did it was worth the wait. We'll be back soon with friends!"

  • "Our first visit to AK - the food was truly outstanding. The combination of ingredients and preparation of our entrees really wowed us. The service and atmosphere were both a bit off. Our waiter seemed to forget us (he admitted to having had a long day), but most surprising was the seating arrangement: the only way to have privacy (because most tables are lined up side by side) was to sit in low and long lounge chairs - not the most comfortable way to enjoy a dinner. But the food was so darn good, we'll likely go back."

  • "I thought the overall appearance was very nice. The food portions were small and overpriced. Not much to choose from on the menu, which was also not vegetarian friendly. Sitting for two is not recommended as we were seated in an area that was cramped and not very private."

  • "I heard AK Bistro had opened a month ago. Decided to try it, loved the decor, food was so-so, menu selection was quite poor (lunch), asked to look at dinner menu, not much better. No iced tea, no lemonade, service was very slow. As I said, beautiful decor, almost like a kitchen from a design magazine. But the food leaves a lot to desire."

  • "This restaurant has it all--interior design, great food, and great drinks. Just like a South End restaurant. We had the wings, shrimp, steak, chicken, short ribs, and ginger creme brulee and everything was great!"

  • "Atmosphere was very nice, a little pricey, food was excellent but portions where a bit small-"

  • "Came her for dinner after work one night and was excited to try out this new place. The location is excellent and it's just the kind of restaurant downtown Franklin needs, but man was I disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. My burger was falling apart due to a miserable bun to burger to condiment ratio. It was dripping in butter and impossible to eat without a fork and a knife. I chalked this up to a bad first experience on the formal dining side and came back for lunch recently to check out the counter service. I ordered the turkey sandwich w/ cheddar and apple butter ... possibly the worst sandwich I've ever had. The combination of apple butter with lettuce, cold sliced turkey, and dry sourdough was horrible. I won't come back."

  • "There's a lot of potential here. We had a waiter that has a lot of learning/experience to gain as he was not comfortable in his position. He didn't have answers to many basic questions (i.e. what beers do you have on tap). However, the food was great!"

  • "Surprised that there are no vegan, vegetarian or designated gluten free entrees on the menu. Although, the kitchen is willing to modify entrees based on patrons' dietary needs it would be apppropriate to have a diverse selection of entrees on the menu and not have modifications be an after thought. Seems as though the servers are still learning the menu and training. AK Bistro has great potential!"

  • "Beautiful restaurant. Much needed addition to the metro west area. We started with the arugula beet salad which was very good. The homemade rolls were a hit. I had the arctic char which I pleased to see because you don't see this on any menus in the area. It was delicious. My husband had the pork chop which he said was perfectly cooked. The sides could be a little bigger. Wine by glass a bit pricey. Service was good not great maybe because the place is new and it was a busy Saturday night. We are happy to a new restaurant in the area"

  • "We just had bites and small plates- all 4 of us loved what we ordered. Pulled pork slider, crab cakes, wings were all very good, but the star of the table was the salumi board. This is a must order if you enjoy cured Italian meat. The only disappointment was the ginger creme brûlée. I love creme brûlée and like ginger, but I only took 1 bite of this because it was too gingery. I will definitely return, can't wait to try the marketplace and breakfast."

  • "Fantastic in every respect. Food is superb w great vegetable options for those that don't like to load up on carbs. Staff is friendly & kitchen more than willing to accom special requests. Even willing to make a dish to order for friend dining w us. They never say no. Wine list has good choices in mid price range. Watched as some diners walked in a few min after the kitchen was scheduled to close & they held the kitchen so the couple could stay & dine. Was great to see as lately it seems many restaurants have close early when business was slow. Nothing more disappointing than getting to a restaurant 20 min before closing & finding the doors locked. Only been open a few weeks & have been back multiple times. Will be a regular no doubt."

  • "We had dinner at AK on Friday night for the first time. It was absolutely incredible!! The ambiance is so well-done. It feels super upscale and cozy at the same time with beautiful details to take in everywhere. The food was outstanding. I got the Arctic char (kinda like salmon but even better) and my husband got the braised short ribs. I highly recommend the grilled shrimp appetizer. Service was unbelievable. They really did their homework before they opened this place, it shows. The only criticisms I have are that the soup could be a little bit hotter and there are no locks on the bathroom doors for some reason so be careful not to walk in on someone (like I did!) and their soup could be a little hotter. Enjoy, you'll LOVE it!"

  • "Had a nice dinner offering. Both specials where steak. I do wish they had a better seafood choice and better bread/oil for such a nice restaurant. Tasted like wonder bread and cheap oil. They apple crisp dessert was delicious. I think I will make AK a go to for a nice lunch and drink and apps. Dinner was good but not amazing."
