  • "Food was unbelievable and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for tapas. Mussels were amazing, the tomato sauce they were in had us sopping up the remains With our bread."

  • "My 3rd time to Aioli and had a wonderful time with friends. Our table was ready right on time, and our server was attentive and very helpful. Ordered tapas and the veggie paella, and for a vegetarian it was delicious! Great wine and sangria. Loud but fun atmosphere, and central to strolling around midtown to work off you meal! Their outdoor dining area is perfect in summer."

  • "This oldie but goodie is still going strong despite all the new competition ( many of which have already come & gone). The seafood entrees are particularly excellennt. The fish and shell fish all very fresh with a piquant tomato sauce. it is so hard to decide between the entrees and a bunch of tapas so we do split an entree and still order a bunch of tapas. The potatoes with spicy tomato sauce are one of my favorites. The night we were there we had an aparagus special and a shrimp special which were also excellent. We were there on a Wednesday night and it was packed. Sorry, I didn't ask our server's name but he has been around for a awhile and gives great attentive service and you can always trust his recommendations."

  • "I loved the tapas and the different selection. Perfect size to share and try out multiple different dishes. Their bread and dip is my favorite. I also enjoyed the privacy. Our server paid attention to us, but did not interrupt our conversation, which I appreciated very much! Very considerate. I will definitely return and recommend to anyone."

  • "Go to Aioli's with friends who are willing to try new flavors and willing to share. Together you can compose an excellent meal that is a combination of smaller portioned cold and hot dishes that can be pickled, grilled or sautéed . Add a glass a wine and after talking about how good the food is, you'll be talking about all the other good things in life. Salud!"

  • "I took my wife, her friend, and her friend's sister here for a fancy dinner that they could dress up for. We were seated right away and the service was outstanding all night long. the menu was very diverse. My wife had muscles, her friend had braised duck, the sister had ravioli (at a spanish restaurant?) and i had braised rabbit. all of the food was excellent. The waiter paired a wine for my rabbit and made my wife and her friend some crazy fruity wine tat they absolutely loved. We all had different deserts too which were also incredible. Easily one of the top five restaurants and dinning experience of my life."

  • "This is the fifth time we've been to Aioli in the past several months, and it definitely was not the charm. First, we were told that we didn''t have a reservation, but they would seat us "anyway" - obviously not true or we wouldn't have gotten this request for a review. After we were seated, getting service was sluggish, to be kind. When we were finally able to order, everything seemed OK, until the waiter re-appeared about 10 minutes later and told us the kitchen was "too busy" to prepare Paella (their SIGNATURE specialty!). Soooo, we ordered a mixed seafood grille, which we were assured would be "no problem" and quick - until 45 minutes later, when we canceled the order, paid up and left."

  • "I've been coming to Sacramento for business for many years. Aioli is consistently a great meal with wonderful, warm service run by an owner with a big heart."

  • "Upon arriving we were immediately whisked to a window seat for two in a quiet part of the restaurant (though near the end of our meal a party of eleven was seated next to us, making the atmosphere louder than we like.) Our courses included a white bean soup that was bursting with spices and flavor. The calamari Gitano, the short ribs and the vegetable platter were all top notch too. Four items was enough and our waiter didn't push us to overbuy. He recommended a Spanish wine which was priced OK (by restaurant standards), and which went perfectly with our selections. The service was just right: not to obtrusive, but we weren't ignored."

  • "The overall experience was very good and I would dine there again if I am in the area. It's a cute little neighborhood. The food was good but my short rib had a considerable amount of fat. That's the only negative. The ambiance was nice and it seems like it would be a great place for a date. I was there having dinner with a friend."

  • "Aioli Bodega Española may be a difficult name to learn but it is an eating experience that you will not forget. Dining in the patio, on a nice February evening, was romantic and fun. Sitting by the fountain, it felt like we were in Sevilla. The service was top flight, the wine list is worthy of many repeated visits and the food was original and healthy."

  • "I love this place. The food, ambiance, and company remind me of our vacation to Andalusia and Sevilla in particular. The only thing missing is the scent of the orange blossoms from the orchard in La Giralda."

  • "One of my favorite restaurants...a great atmosphere. We went on valentines and it was very busy...they did their best to get us seated and served despite the crowd. The food was amazing. Try the ravioli tapas...the best taste ever. I'll certainly be back!"

  • "This is the second time for my husband and me, and we were even more impressed than before. We had previously had paella, which was very good, but not quite what I was used to in Spain. We decided on something different this time. I had the Zarzuela and my husband had the braised lamb shank. Both were incredibly flavorful. The roasted vegetable, and the hot calamari appetizers were awesome. Needless to say, we had way too much to eat. The waiter (I think it was the owner), would not let hubby choose a glass of wine to go with dinner. Instead, he chose one for him, which was fantastic! Service was slow in the beginning (we waited awhile, and weren't quite sure who our waiter was at first), but the food and subsequent service made up for it."

  • "Note - it is highly recommended to use OpenTable to snag a table here Friday and Saturday nights during prime time (6-9PM). It gets busy, but the service and doesn't suffer. Food cooked perfectly (excellent Ribeye, medium rare with even dark pink evenly cooked throughout, and great wines (most of the red European listings need about 15 minutes to breathe, but good selections and pricing for reserve wines from Spain and Italy)."

  • "We've been to Aioli Bodega Espanola three times now, and every one has been amazing. The small setting is very intimate, the colors and lighting are calm and romantic, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the food is top notch, and they usually have live spanish guitar music (at least on the weekends when we've gone). Our go to spot for special occasions or just craving some great food!"

  • "We went to this establishment for Valentines Day. We were greeted promptly and since we had made a reservation we were seated right away. All of the staff were friendly and our server Jacklyn was great. The food was good but unfortunately due to a sulphite allergy, i reacted to one of the dishes. The description didn't mention that the figs were sauteed with Port wine. The server said they use wine in many of their dishes and that next time they can recommend dishes without wine in them. overall it was a great experience and recommended."

  • "Service was less "Spanish" than expected, food and wine list were marvelous. If only the table next to ours hadn't been populated by five self-important political staff [it is Sacramento, after all] loudly braying their own proximity to persons of power...... Give Aioli a chance, but be selective about the table."

  • "Every dish we ordered was exceptional. Very well made and the service was outstanding. The scallops are mouth-watering. The entertainment on Valentines Day was festive and beautiful."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for valentines day. The resturant was beautiful, the service was outstanding and the food was delicious. The tapas are great for a slow and romantic dinner. We had no idea what to order so the waiter chose for us. I expected him to choose the five most expensive things on the menu but instead we were greated with things that he thought we would genuinely like based of what we had told him. Everything was delicious and I highly reccomend it."

  • "Excellent Tapa's restaurant.. The food was excellent, the service and waiter were great. He was friendly, energetic, and social. He showed up just the right amount of time. Only slight negative was that it was very loud inside. Made it difficult to have a conversation, but at least it was positive, fun noise."

  • "Great dining experience alll the way around. Took my niece and her bf there for a touch of a tad bit more upscale than what they are used to. The waiter was extremely patient with their "taco bell manners" and helped me teach them how to dine in style. The food was superb !!! I travel quite frequently and will not be embarrassed to bring my other traveling friends here."

  • "You can't go wrong at this restaurant. Four of us shared the beet and citrus salad, two orders of lamb skewers, and bourek de casa- wonderful fill triangles filled with fontina cheese. And of course, we finished with the paella valenciana. Everything was amazing."

  • "I took my friend out for his birthday (along with very picky eater girlfriend) and all of us love everything we ordered! I'll definitely go back there again!! The salmon, spinach salad, and even the desert (we had orange flan) were all delicious."

  • "We tried to get a reservation at Ella or Grange but they were booked up. I am glad we winded up here instead. Excellent food and service!! I recommend the puff pastry and grilled shrimp tapas. The kir royale was and excellent cocktail. The flan was smooth and creamy."

  • "Delightful place to grab a bite and a glass. They supplement the tapas style menu with paella for two and other full courses. Not a destination restaurant, but a solid choice when in the area."

  • "This place is nice, though the tables and chairs are cramped into small spaces, and the chairs are not the most comfortable things. The location is horrible for two reason - Impossible parking and HBID. You need to park four or five blocks away on a good day. Midtown needs more parking options. As for the HBID tax, when did this start? The locals want a nicer looking midtown, so what do they do? Tax the people that come there to spend money. It's not a large percentage, but the idea is insulting. If you want your area to look nice then pay for it yourself!! Don't hide it in a tax that gets tacked on at the end. It's insulting. I won't be back to that area of town to spend money simply for principle. Aren't we taxed enough already?"
